verena returned home, hoping nick told matt that she wasn't coming back to their place. she just hoped. she walked into her cold, empty house. no one was ever here when she was.

i mean she was always at the sturniolo's, but on the rare occasions she went home. only if something rare happened. which happened to be that her parents both work, never bothering to come home. always on work trips.

verena followed the same exact daily tasks. she warmed up dinner from last night, she watched some tv, and then did her daily night routine.

after she got into bed, and edited a youtube video. and then she fell asleep.

no one's pov

maverick sneaked up onto the property line, crossing the yard, and opened an unlocked window. he sneaked around her house, going up the stairs.

he accidentally stepped on a creaky step, and then he cursed to himself.

"who is that?" he heard verena's voice. he didn't move for a second and then he stepped up the stairs again, another creaky one, but much more louder.

"please don't hurt me!" her voice sounded. maverick tried his best to be quiet, but his mission failed.

he saw the door creak open and he flung himself quietly into the nearest room that was open. he went to the window, opening it, and jumping out.

verena looked around her house, going into every room, turning on every light. she swore that someone was in her house.

she went into the spare bedroom, the window was open. she peered outside, and no one was out there.

throughout the rest of the night, the lights were all off. she wasn't just spooked yet, she was still confused.

the next day as she made her way to ashley's place, she saw a figure in the distance. this figure watched her every movements, and as verena passed by the spot, a chill went up her spine. she turned around, but there was no one there.

she hurried the rest of the way to ashley's house and was let in easily.

later in the night, verena told ashley of what she's been feeling, of what she experienced last night.

"are you feeling okay verena?" ashley asked, after she heard the experience of the night before.

"i'm sure ashley, i swear on it, there was someone in my house last night."

"are you sure? have you talked to matt about it?" ashley asked.

"no, he'd think i'm crazy, and i can't tell his brothers either."

"i really hope you're safe. are your parents home?" she asked.

"yeah, they'll be home tonight, finally."

"you should tell them, they deserve to know."

"hell no, ashley, my parents will send me to an asylum."

"well, you can't just not tell people, this is serious!" ashley's voice was getting louder.

an argument was starting, something that each girl hated.

"it's a coincidence." verena's voice was calm.

"how can you fucking be calm, when there is a murderer after you, vera!"

"i just am ashley! i'm not afraid like you are! i'll just leave!" verena yelled, and walked out the door, ashley calling out for her.

it was dark as verena walked back home. nothing scared her, she didn't care at all. soon, headlights were coming her way.

as it got closer, it was the triplets. they probably finished a car video. matt, the driver, stopped the car and ran to verena.

"where the fuck were you?" matt asked. "i was at ashley's but then we had a fight, i left." she told him.

"ashley told me that something might be following you." matt looked into her eyes.

"everything's fine matt, just take me home." she mumbled.

"is everything alright?" matt asked, looking around for injuries.

"someone broke in my house last night, and as i was going to ashley's, i saw a figure, following me with their eyes."

matt was in shock, not knowing what to say. behind the two of them, nick and chris came out of the van.

"who's that?" chris asked.
