C17: Couch Confessions
A/N
I really don't know where I'm going with this story.

They sat in silence for a while. It wasn't an awkward kind of silence though. In fact, Kayla found it quite comforting. Usually, she would be terrified of silence because, like what happened before Jayden showed up, the voices come back. She found Jayden's presence comforting and, surprisingly, the voices didn't come back during those moments before Jayden broke the silence.
"You still look beautiful when you cry, you know?" His voice was so confident and straightforward that it cut through the silence like a knife. He caught her off guard. "Huh?" Her head snapped in his direction. "You still look beautiful when you cry," he repeated, this time looking her in the eyes. "Th-thank you." He scooted closer to her and gave her a hug. They stayed like that for a few minutes, listening to the pace of each other's breathing.
Suddenly, Jayden reached behind Kayla and pulled the lever on the side of the couch, causing it to recline. Kayla screamed into his chest and they both started laughing like crazy.
"Thank you for coming over, Jayden. Really."
"My pleasure, Kayls. Glad I did actually. God forbid anything happen to you if I didn't. Just tell me when you wanna talk about what happened." He lifted her chin so her eyes met his. "I'm right here."
Tears started to form in her eyes again. She grew cold so she snuggled closer to him and hid her face. "I don't think you'd get it. You probably already have a feeling that I'm insane. Why intensify it?" He pulled the hood off of her head. "If you're insane, then you're the best freaking kind. Just tell me. It'll be okay, I promise."
"Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you did things a little differently in the past? Like if you hadn't involved yourself with certain people? Or you hadn't been at a certain place at a certain time? I have these voices in my head that, when I don't have any distractions, scream at me. They tear me apart piece by piece, savoring each moment they get to break me even more. They claw at my mind and screech in ways that terrify me, telling me to do some horrific things to myself so I won't do it to anyone else. They scream terrible things at me and make me question myself. Do I really even belong here? Shouldn't I just be dead?"
By this time, tears were streaming down both of their faces. Kayla couldn't help but wonder what that look in his eyes meant. Was it rage? Pity? Guilt? She was trying to look deeper into his eyes whilst hiding her own when something magical happened.
He kissed her.
He wasn't filled with rage, pity nor guilt. That look in his eyes meant something more. It meant love. When they pulled away, it dawned on both of them that that shouldn't have happened.
