[3rd Person POV]
The Hub was quiet at night, Orange Steve having left to go back home for the night hours ago. However, there were still two people in the safehaven.
A tall, dark, starry mass erupted from the ground next to the house, gracefully stopping and doing a small spin as it changed form. Moving like water, its body changed until it resembled a person in a cloak, face nearly featureless save for white eyes radiating a soft light. It stood still and waited, staring at the ground it rose from. After a minute, it leaned down.
"Come on now, you can do it." It said in a soft, encouraging voice. "Just build up momentum, and rush to the surface."
There was nothing for a few moments, but as a dark spot began to form on the stone brick, it seemingly smiled and stepped back. The spot grew until it resembled a black puddle, and just like the being before it, a smaller dark mass erupted from the ground. However, it moved much more clumsily as it regained its form, forming the starry silhouette of a person after a few seconds of struggling.
Sabre stumbled as he tried to find his footing, not used to his limbs feeling like they were liquid a moment before, and suddenly being solid again. The tall personlike form reached out with its abyssal-toned arms, and helped him find his balance again. He shook for a moment as he held on, but after being given a few minutes, he could stand on his own again. He smiled up at the figure as it let go of him.
"See? Just like swimming." It smiled back. "You'll have to practice a bit more to get used to your form changing like that, but just be mindful of the environment you're practicing in and you should be fine."
"I'll remember that." Sabre replied. "Thanks for teaching me how to do this! It's going to make fights a lot easier when I can sneak up behind who I'm fighting."
"You can also use it for general travel, if you like. It's much faster than walking."
"Maybe. Could you teach me anything else?"
"Ah, I think this is enough for now... you're still quite new to this world, and I don't want you to be overwhelmed..." The Void says. "You haven't been experiencing any pain or discomfort with your new body, have you?"
"Nah, just... getting used to the new look." Sabre answers, staring down at his hands for a moment. "I keep scaring myself with my reflection..."
"That's understandable. You went through something horrible, and to survive you had to go through a lot of change. It's normal to need some time to adjust."
The Void moves over to the house, sitting on the porch. Sabre follows behind it and sits next to it as it looks up at the stars. There's a peaceful silence for a little while, until Sabre speaks up.
"Hey, uh..." Sabre says, getting the Void's attention. "I never actually thanked you for saving me back there, so... thanks for that. I... I'm really glad I still get to live. Even if it does mean learning how to function again."
"You're very welcome, Sabre." The Void smiled down at him. "I'm glad you think so... apologies if I'm not a very good teacher. It's been a very, very long time since I've given my power to someone."
"Nah, I think you're a great teacher. You've been explaining things pretty well, uh... hm."
"Is something wrong?"
"Oh, no. I just realized I never got your name."
"I don't really have a name. I am simply the Void." It replies, but hesitates for a moment before looking down at Sabre. "Although... you can give me a name to refer to me by, if you'd like. I don't mind."
"Really?"
"Mhm."
"...I'll think on that. And I'm gonna make sure you like it too, first."
"That's very thoughtful of you, Sabre."
