Onyx: Do I have to do this...?

Garnet: If we are going to mantain this truce between us then yes, you have.

Thanks to the battle against Jasper, the hand shaped space ship ended up crashing into the beach of Beach City. Because of that, the entire city had a bunch of space junk scattered all over the place.
Right now, The Crystal gems were helping to clean the mess by picking up the leftovers of the ship that were on the beach. Amethyst was digging out pieces of steel from the sand like a dog, Steven was using a shovel to dig out the smaller pieces to avoid cutting his hands, you and Garnet were picking up the much larger and heavier pieces of steel while Pearl and Ash...

Ash: No, no, no! We need to pile up the pieces by placing the larger pieces at the bottom and the smaller pieces at the top!

Pearl: You call that efficiency? We need to separate the smaller pieces from the bigger ones, making two different piles.

They were just arguing with each other to decide how thing should be handled.

Steven: Do we have to pick all of this pieces?

Steven asked while struggling to dig out a chunk of steel from the sand with his shovel. Garnet slowly turned around and dropped a big pieces of steel on the floor, making it tremble briefly for a moment.

Garnet: Yes. Having a wrecked gem ship laying around is dangerous.

Onyx: Dangerous for us since Homeworld might spot it or dangerous for curious humans?

Garnet: Yes.

You rolled your eyes in annoyance while Pearl walked towards the group carrying a few pieces of gem ship, dropping them on top of a larger piece, agreeing to use Ash's method.

Pearl: And we also have to find Peridot's escape pod... You two wouldn't happen to know how to find her, right?

Pearl asked both you and Ash. 

Onyx: How in the blazes am I suppose to know where she landed? I don't have psychic powers like Jean Grey... Maybe we should call her to help us find Lapis.

Almost everyone was confused with that answer... Well, besides Amethyst who was doing her best to not burst into laughter.
You spent the whole night reading Marvel comics with Amethyst, going from a few Ghost Rider numbers to X-Men and even everyone's favorite... Civil War.

Pearl: Um... Okay?

Pearl decided to not pay much attention to that and instead she went back to work. You, Garnet and Ash started to follow her while moving pieces of the space ship. Steven decided to stay back for a moment to have a small talk with Amethyst.

Steven: Amethyst... You told Onyx that comics aren't real, right?

Steven asked with a bith of concern.

Amethyst: I thought he was going to figure it out on his own.

Amethyst confessed while shrugging.

Steven: Well, maybe you tell him before he actually starts to go around Beach City asking for people about where to find the X-Men's mansion.

Amethyst: Ugh... Fine, I'll tell him later.

Amethyst starts to walk to catch up with the others while carrying more fragments of the gem ship.

Amethyst: If I don't forget about it.

Amethyst said to herself while growing an evil smile once she was far away for Steven to hear her.

(Time Skip)

The sunset was coming after a long day of work. The sun was slowly hiding and the color of the sky was changing from blue to orange and the group managed to clean most of the beach, with only a few leftovers to deal with.
Right now you were sitting on the stairs of Steven's house next to Ash.

Onyx: I can't believe we spent most of the day cleaning this beach for the humans instead of searching for Lapis.

You complained while crossing your arms in anger.

Ash: Well... It was kinda our fault that the beach ended up like this and we also need to put a bit of effort from our part in this truce.

Onyx: Ugh! I know... I just wanted to look for Lapis as fast as possible to get out of this planet. Besides, can't humans clean this mess on their own?

Garnet: They can.

Both you and Ash made a small jump like reaction thanks to Garnet appearing out of nowhere. She was standing behind the two of you on the stairs with her hands behind her back and with her regular serious facial expression.

Garnet: But because the pieces of the ship are heavy and have gem technology on them, it's both hard and dangerous for humans.

Onyx: Stop doing that! I will burn you!

You warned Garnet but she was not phased by your words at all.

Ash: S-So... What are we going to do now? What are the orders for the team?

Garnet: Hmm... Do anything you want.

Ash was a bit taken back by those words. Since she was a Pearl, she spent a large chunk of her life following orders given to her. The few times Ash had a bit of freedom to do things she wanted to do on her own was back in the day during the gem war and recently when she acted against Jasper.

Garnet: I believe Onyx said "screw titles" right? Well, you are on Earth right now. Just because you are a Pearl it doesn't mean you have to do everything others tell you to do.

Ash was thinking about Garnet's words, meditating about this new possible aspect for her life. Meanwhile, you had a raised eyebrow.

Onyx: Wait... How did you know I said that? You weren't with us when I said those words.

Garnet: Future vision.

You facepalmed and pinched your forehead. For some reason you totally forgot that Garnet is half sapphire.

Onyx: Right... Of course...

Garnet: Anyway, me and the others are going to take a break for what is left of the day. We worked hard cleaning the beach. You two should probably do the same.

Onyx: Oh? And what happened with that "Do anything you want"?

Garnet: It was a suggestion, not an order.

You turned to Ash, waiting for her to share her thoughts about it.

Ash: Well... It's going to be hard to look for Lapis in the ocean during the night.

You let out a sigh of frustration.

Onyx: Fine... We'll stay here for what is left of the day and start a searching party tomorrow.

Suddenly, you felt the weight of a hand on top of your shoulder. Garnet placed her hand there, trying to comfort you a little.

Garnet: We'll find her, Onyx. I promise.

You just nodded silently in response. Garnet took her hand off your shoulder and walked into the house. Once she left, you couldn't help but to think why was Garnet being so calm about you and Ash.
You were very aware about Pearl's hate towards you for what happened in the war. Amethyst didn't held hostility towards you since, for what she told you and Ash in her room, she was born after the war ended. But Garnet... She was around when you were the general of the army of Homeworld and she knows about the gems you shattered. But even then, she wasn't acting like Pearl who was glaring at you with anger from the distance, judging your every step. 
It just made you feel confused how could Garnet just act normally around you even when she knows about the things you did... But at the very least, she and the rest of the gems were being nice with Ash. Well, outsided of Pearl who was a bit skeptical with her. 

Ash: Onyx?

Onyx: Hmm?

You woke up from your thougths when Ash called your name.

Onyx: Sorry, I spaced out... What do you need?

Ash: What should we do for now to kill time?

Onyx: Oh! We can-

Ash: Please don't say read comics...

You made an small pout and crossed your arms like an angry child.

Onyx: Hmph... Fine, how about we look around the terrains?

Pearl: ABSOLUTELY NO!!!

Both you and Ash quickly got up from the stairs and backed up a bit after hearing Pearl yelling at the two of you from behind.

Onyx: For the stars! You are gonna do that too?! Who is next?! Amethyst?!

Amethyst frowned since her turn to scaer you and Ash was now going to be predictable. She let out a sigh and walked back into the house while carrying her airhorn.

Pearl: I don't care what Garnet said, you two are not allowed to go anywhere without someone to supervising you!

Ash: Oh... You wanna come with us?

Pearl: No... I don't.

Pearl answered with a cold tone while you just glared at her with annoyance. But then, you grew a naughty smile on your face.

Onyx: Oh, you are right Pearl. We shouldn't leave without someone watching over us... How about you show us the insides of your "room" instead?~

Ash saw what you were doing and she started to follow your lead.

Ash: Oh, what a glorius idea! I can't wait to see how well you organize your things inside your room! Maybe we can even invite Amethyst to join us too!

Pearl was silently staring at the two of you with a twitching eye.

Pearl: ...

(One Hour Later)

Greg: W-Wait, what do you mean I have to-

Pearl: You are supervising them now.

Both Ash and you were inside Greg's van, with you staying in the back and with Ash staying in the front seat next to Greg. Pearl didn't wanted to deal with either you or Ash since she still didn't trusted the two of you. Saddly, Greg got caught in the middle of this and Pearl was just tossing the problem into someone else.

Greg: But I can't-

Pearl didn't even stayed to let Greg finish. He awkwardly turned towards both Ash and you while trying to hold a convincing smile on his face.

Greg: S-So... W-Where do you guys want to go?

Greg asked a bit nervous. He heard a few things about you that made him feel a bit uneasy. For example, your "explosive" personality when you get angry or how you could take on the other gems all at once in a fight.

Ash: Well, we wanted to see the surroundings. Would that be possible?

Ash asks Greg with an small smile. This made Greg calm down a bit and now grow a more genuine smile.

Greg: You two want to look around the city? Sure, no problem. It's been a while since I took a quiet stroll around the city. Anywhere in particular you want to go first?

Greg asks the two of them while turning on the engine of his van.

Onyx: Just show us around. We want to know a bit more about where we are going to be staying for a while.

Greg nodded and he started to drive his van, slowly getting away from Steven's house. Ash stared for a moment at Greg driving and it made him feel a bit awkward.

Greg: Uh... Something wrong?

Ash: No, by all means. I was just admiring your vehicle. It's primitive but you have good transport.

Ash said with a genuine smile on her face. Greg was slowly starting to see Ash as a much nicer and more friendly Pearl.

Greg: Jee, thanks... Would you like to learn how to drive?

Ash: M-Me? A pearl commanding a vehicle? I... I don't think I'm ready for that...

Ash had a bit of a blush of on her face. She was rubbing her shoulder in embarrasment while now looking away from Greg. She liked the idea but she still had some bad habbits of always acting as a servant.

Greg: Oh, well. There is always a next time.

Those words boosted a bit Ash's mood, making her feel less embarrased.

Onyx: Well, where are we going first?

Greg: Well, since you two don't have a fixed destination in mind, we'll just look around and check at what we can find in Beach City.

With those words started an interesting small adventure with the two gems from Homeworld and Mr. Universe.
First, the three of them ended up in the arcades since Ash got interested in the flashy lights and the music coming from the place. At that moment Greg felt like if Ash and you were kids since the two of you tried every single game inside the arcade. You pretty much owned every single one of the fighting games of the arcade while Ash broke records in Dance Dance Revolution. 
After the arcade, the three of you went to a T-Shirt shop. Why would the trio go to a T-Shirt shop? Well, you found a Ghost Rider shirt and it was pretty much like honeys and bees. You just couldn't resist even if you thought that the idea of wearing human accessories was a bit silly. Ash couldn't help but to giggle at your new looks with the shirt and Greg just gave a thumbs up.
Then, after that, Greg got hungry and he drove his van to Fish Stew Pizza. After getting his order, he drove the van and parked near the lighthouse of Beach City. Once there, the three of you just sat eating pizza (well, mostly just Greg) on the back of the van while staring at the sea under the dark sky of the night.
Each one of you had different thoughts. Greg was happy since he got to enjoy a nice afternoon with two new friends without anything weird happening, even when one of his new gem friends had some anger issues.
Ash was just relaxing. She spent far too much time serving Jasper... It was nice for Ash to have a day where she didn't had to work for anyone and instead she could have some time to entertain herself with anything she wanted to do.
You in the other hand... You were just staring at the ocean, thinking about Lapis. This made your facial expression take the shape of a sad one and the others noticed.

Greg: Everything okay, buddy?

Greg asks a bit concerned. You let out a sigh before turning towards in order to answer.

Onyx: Sorry. It's just... I was thinking about Lapis...

Ash: Onyx...

Greg: You must miss your friend a lot, huh?

Onyx: Yes, I do. I just... Even if I had a fun time today and we'll look for Lapis later, I still can't get her out of my head at all...

After hearing those words, Greg let out an small chuckle. This made you and Ash raise an eyebrow in confusion.

Ash: What is so funny?

Onyx: Did my words meant something else for humans?

Greg: No, it's not that. It's just that by the way you talk about how you can't stop thinking about Lapis, it really sounds like you are in love with her.

You froze for a moment after hearing those words. You have heard about the concepts of "love" in other planets back in the day but you never really thought to much about it before. Now, after hearing Greg mentioning that and how you couldn't stop thinking about Lapis, you started to think about the possibility... And it made you blush... A lot...

Ash: Onyx? Are you okay?

Greg: You are kinda steaming... Literally!

There was some steam coming out of the top of your head.

Onyx: I-I need to cool down...

You got up from the back of the van, only to then get behind the lighthouse. Both Greg and Ash chuckled at your reaction.

Greg: I guess he is trying to process it, huh?

Ash: You know? I always felt like there was a bit of a spark between him and Lapis to be honest. But I always kept those thoughts for myself.

Greg: Why?

Ash: Well, back during the war it was because I was his personal Pearl. Speak of something like that about your owner was like a sin... There is also the problem about how "romance" is a bit of a forbbiden subject in Homeworld.

Greg was a bit surprised to hear that since one of the gems he knew for the longest was literally a fusion between two gems that were deeply in love with each other.

Greg: How is being in love forbbiden in your Homeworld?

Ash: It's... Complicated...

Ash looked away for a moment.

Ash: Let's just say that everything that doesn't fit into the hierarchy of gems is not appreciated in Homeworld... Love is one of the things that doesn't fit and thus, it is not seen as a positive thing in Homeworld...

Greg didn't fully understood it. But he placed a supportive hand on top of Ash's shoulder.

Greg: Well, you two are now on Earth. You two can do anything you want on this planet or act like you feel more comfortable.

Ash gave Greg a warm smile in response to his nice gesture.

Ash: Thanks, Mr. Universe... You are a wise human.

Greg couldn't help but to laugh at Ash's statement. Most of the people that know Greg wouldn't exactly call him someone "wise".
After a few moments, you came back with the others with a much more relaxed mind.

Greg: Well, guys. It's kinda late. I should take you two back before Pearl starts to get worried.

Ash: Actually...

Ash interrupted Greg.

Ash: Would you mind if I drive us back home?

Greg: Heh, sure! I'm sure it will be a fun experience!

(A few moments later)

Greg: Slow down! SLOW DOWN!

Ash was driving Greg's van like if she was in a car race.

Ash: This is so much fun!

Onyx: Faster, Ash! FASTER!!!

The van was speeding away from the camera, heading back towards Steven's house. The day was over and so it was the chill time. The next day the crystal gems will start to look for Lapis in the ocean with the help of both you and Ash.
Until then, it was time to rest... There was still a lot more to be done in Earth and there were things creeping deep down, waiting for their day to come.

Well, sorry for the long delay... Again.
But things on Argentina have been complicated lately. Between my time in college, me losing my job and needing to find a new one and the whole deal with our current president it's making things a living hell for my personal life.
I have never been too worried about stuff like where I live, my economic situation, etc. But with things being unclear lately in Argentina, right now I'm focusing more in finding stability in my life and it's not a fun experience.

Anyway, sorry once more for the delay and I hope you guys liked this chapter.
