Chapter 9 ( Beach bud bond)
Amethyst's P.O.V.
Amethyst: Are these.....your parents?
I asked (Y/n) before turning to him while still staring at his phone. (Y/n) reluctantly agreed that the two other humans in the photo was his Mom and Dad. He couldn't deny it even if he wanted to since the three of them looked so much alike.
Amethyst: Where are they anyway? You haven't been around long but I noticed your always looking this picture. If you miss them so much then go see them.
(Y/n): It's complicated.
That was all (Y/n) said before turning away from me. He walked a few feet towards the ocean before sitting down in the sand. He picked a spot that looked as if the ocean would scoop him up and drag him into the water but the waves only reached out so far onto the beach before it stop a few centimeters in front of (Y/n)'s feet before withdrawing. I found myself sitting beside him as his hair wavered in the wind.
Amethyst: You wanna talk about it? You know you can tell me anything. We're friends now. I wanna know more about you.
I said sincerely. (Y/n) only let out a sigh before speaking up.
(Y/n): When I was little, it was lonely growing up. My Mom was this popular real-estate agent and my Dad was this big time lawyer. I was happy they had these careers that they enjoyed but it was lonely. They were gone all the time and would leave me at Vidalia's house so much I began to think that she was my mom and sour cream was the brother I always wanted. I loved them both but I wanted my real Mom, my real Dad and my own sibling. As I grew up, they began putting a lot of pressure on me. I didn't know whether I wanted to take after my Mom's job or my Dad's I didn't want to let down either one but by the time I graduated high school, I had no idea what I wanted to be or do. I basically ended up how I am now. A clumped up recluse who's alone and who couldn't be the lawyer, the real estate or even the doctor I knew my parents want me to be. I know their ashamed of their only dead beat son.
I know I haven't been with (Y/n) long but he was so calm and laidback until now even if he was a bit odd. I didn't know what to say. He was standing up now in front of the ocean, breathing hard as he vented. He was only forced to stop when he needed air. I listened to every word (Y/n) was saying, I felt bad for him and understood his situation at the same time. More than anything I knew how it feels to be lonely.
(Y/n): I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to rant and just throw all of this stuff onto you.
He tried to apologize before calming down. He then slowly sat back down and dug for a small shell in the sand, throwing it into the ocean. I watched as it plot a good distance away into the ocean as it sunk, causing ripples on top of the water.
Amethyst: It's ok, I understand. You feel useless at times and deep inside, you know your not the greatest person you wish you were but you just want someone to be proud of you. I use to feel that way around the other gems especially when Jasper would just rub it in. Even when Steven is only a half gem, he seemed so much better than I was but he showed me that I was perfect just the way that I am.
(Y/n): You are perfect just the way you are. I'm a human 100%. Compared to you, I'm insignificant and useless.
Amethyst: Don't say that.
(Y/n): But it's true, I don't have any of your cool powers and can't really help you.
Amethyst: But your more unique than you know. I don't care if your normal. I like you because of your personality, the way you make me laugh and how I never know what your going to do next. As a human you experience things that I can't because I'm a gem. For instance you grow up. Sure gems may change over time but that's nothing compared to what you guys do. I've seen everything humans are capable of. I've been on Earth my entire life. We may not be what we want to be but if I can finally love and except who I am, so can you and so can your parents. I know what it feels like to lose someone forever (Y/n) and that's not a good feeling at all. I know your parents keep in contact with you, that shows that they really care about you. You should answer them before you lose them forever.
(Y/n): Do you really think they would want to talk to me after all this time? It's been a while....
(Y/n) said with an unsure tone.
Amethyst: Of course they would, they're your parents.
I told him with a smile.
(Y/n): Alright then.
(Y/n) said as he took in a breath of air. He turned on his phone with a click and I could see him opening up a text from a few days ago that was from his mom. I didn't want to look at what he was texting but I knew he really meant what he was sending before he put his phone back into his pocket.
Amethyst: She'll be happy to get that from you.
(Y/n) was silent as he looked into the endless ocean view. I did the same before suddenly braking the silence with a sudden curiosity.
Amethyst: What's it like having parents?
I asked.
(Y/n): Well, having parents is like having a someone who you know will always love you and be there for you when you need them, no matter how much you screw up.
Amethyst: That....sounds really nice.
I said before standing up and walking into the ocean.
(Y/n): Um, Amethyst...what are you doing-
I heard (Y/n) say before he burst into laughter.
(Y/n): Wait, don't tell me your peeing in the ocean! Why would you even want to be able to go to the bathroom , it's gross and we were supposed to be having a moment.
Amethyst: Yeah but nature calls. Besides, fish pee in the water all the time and no one really stops to think about that but when we do it, it's suddenly a big deal.
I said in a silly voice while (Y/n) was still laughing. Mostly because he didn't expect me to do something like this but I did all the time and truthfully, I really wanted to see him happy again.
