Chapter 13 ( Life of the party)

(Y/n)'s P.O.V.

Towards the second when the last sliver of sunlight disappeared as the moon became visible in the sky, we had caught word of Sour Cream hosting a big party on the beach and that everyone would be there. I promised him I'd go see him DJ and this was the perfect time. It seemed the night time was bringing out everyone's partying mood, even Pearl admitted that a party sounded fun and so Greg even wanted to attend also. Even though he was older than us, I always loved how Greg wanted to hang out with us instead of staying in like other middle aged people.

Greg and I had gotten into our vehicles ready to drive down towards the beach where the party would already be underway. However, we would meet him there later after a few stops. Steven thought it was a good idea to go pick up a few friends of his who were also gems and who's names were Peridot and Lapis. From what I've been told, Lapis didn't seem like the partying type but who knows, maybe she is. Peridot on the other hand looked like she was always curious to try something new. They both lived in a barn out in the country that was a good distance away from the temple. When we reached the barn, they were confused as to who's vehicle was pulling up in front of their home but upon seeing Amethyst and Steven's familiar faces, they were happy to come along. I expected that Lapis preferred flying to the beach on her own but as Peridot climbed into the truck, she saw that there was room for everyone and followed her inside. I had learned a lot about them in the little time we spent together in the car.

Time skip.....

We had arrived at the beach party moments later as I slowly drove threw while everyone slowly stepped aside to give way. Their awes and questions of curiously peaked as the car came to a complete stop. They had no idea it was me behind the wheel, other than those who may have saw me this morning when I was driving like a bat out of hell. The windows were tinted but soon enough when we all left the car, I saw everyone was here such as the Fryman's and even Vidalia and her family. It seemed like we were the life of the party and since I was sort of making a big debut, people were surrounding me in disbelief of my presence. Others were checking out my car.

Sour Cream: Glad you could make it.

Sour Cream shouted at me from his mic at the DJ stand while he was spinning some really catchy tunes. I waved at him before a gave a thumbs up my way. I admit that this crowd was making me a little nervous but at the same time, I knew all of these people, it would have been even more awkward if I was among strangers. On the other hand, seeing Vidalia made everything all ok. Vidalia, Barbara and Sadie were all going crazy and dancing with a glow stick in each of their hands. It really warmed me to see everyone having fun like one big family. Pearl and Garnet were hanging together and even Steven and Connie were dancing. Connie's parents were waltzing even though this wasn't the kind of music you waltz too but at least they were happy. Greg and Mayor Dewey had started grilling food for everyone such as hamburgers and hotdogs. Lion's eyes never left the grill and was waiting for Greg and Mayor Dewey to turn away so he could sneak some meat. Oddly enough, Mayor Dewey was staring at Pearl the entire time. Jamie and Lars were having a volley ball game with Kiki and Jenny with their grandma and dad debating on who was going to keep score. I also so Onion and Peedee playing in the sand.

Seeing everyone together almost made me feel like I was alone but that's when remembered I had Amethyst who had never left myside. I looked down at her upon feeling her hand grasp mine. She had managed to change her outfit without me noticing. Like the other gems, she was wearing the perfect attire fit for a beach party like this. I tried to hold my blush before se suddenly pulled me along towards the ocean. She had let go of my hand temporarily before cannon balling into the ocean. The fact that I wasn't the strongest swimmer and also didn't want to get myself, my phone or my shoes wet, made me stop in front of the waves momentarily. I took off my shoes as well as sticking my phone into the sand before pondering whether or not I should go into the water.

Amethyst soon emerged from the water with a laugh before eyeing me.

Amethyst: Don't worry about getting wet (Y/n), you can always dry off, I can turn into a towel if you want.

She teased as she splashed me before disappearing underneath the water again. I held up my hands to block the water she flung my way. The cool night temperature made the water a bit cold and before I decided not to go in, Amethyst suddenly burst out of the water shapeshifted into a shark and grabbed for me. She had gently picked me up in her mouth of jagged teeth and dunked me into the ocean. The sound of voices and music were muffled as water flooded my ears. I tried to remember my swimming lessons and kicked my legs and arms to push myself to the surface. I was unprepared for Amethyst's sudden attack and got a mouth full of salty sea water which I hurriedly spat out. Meanwhile, Amethyst laughed in delight as I smiled at her. My long (hair color) were now sticking to my face. My now wet hair was blinding my view but I turned around upon hearing Peridot's voice who was running towards the water with a pool float and jumping in.

Peridot: This is actually very soothing.

She said as she closed her eyes and let the ocean gently push her around. Lapis on the other hand, was lingering above her and used her power of the water to create works of art out of the water. I was having a really good time up until the point I heard a voice that I thought was long forgotten.

Kevin: Look who finally decided to crawl out of their hole.

My head whipped around towards the familiar voice as I held my hair out of my face with my hands.

(Y/n): Kevin. -_-

I said with a bitter tone.
