Sapphire x Ruby ANGST

hahhahaha.

have fun

~

The fight was getting out of hand. Ruby and Sapphire remained as Garnet, but it was just a matter of time before something went wrong and they split. They had to stay together. Garnet was the combination of Ruby and Sapphire, their best and worsts seem to fit together in a way that just made sense.

Without Ruby, Sapphire would panic. She would be afraid and confused in this kind of fight. She would be shattered almost instantly.

Without Sapphire, Ruby wouldn't know when to stop. She would fight until there was nothing left to fight, or she was shattered.

They needed each other. It was the only thing that made sense in this fight, but as they started to tire, and the blows and screams became harder and louder, it was difficult to keep it together.

It was difficult to remain a fusion until it was impossible.

The pieces were falling apart.

Suddenly all Sapphire could hear in her head was just Sapphire's thoughts. And Suddenly all Ruby could hear in her head was just Ruby's thoughts.

There was a vacuum in their minds, and no matter what they did, all it did was consume. It was dragging in all their thoughts, and every instinct was immediately erased.

They needed each other.

So they searched for each other. Sapphire tried to run towards wherever Ruby might be, and all her enemies were frozen in her panic-caused frost that crawled up their legs and suffocated them. Her future vision didn't work. Every variable, every step of hundreds of gems, every shatter and every weapon drawn. There was too many things happening at once, and the future looked more like a hundred tangled threads instead of a branching river.

Ruby tried to run towards wherever Sapphire might be. The ground grew hot and burnt gemstones to the point of shattering. Gemstones melted, and Ruby could barley stifle a flinch. Imagine the pain, your gemstone melting. Was it like falling apart? Was it painless? She couldn't imagine what it was like, but she didn't want to either way.

They just kept pushing through the crowd, and whatever blows landed on them didn't hurt and was so much more painful at the same time.

Without the other, pain didn't really seem to matter. But without the other, the pain seemed to be magnified so much more.

There was a flash of red in the corner of Sapphire's sight, and there was a flash of blue in the corner of Ruby's sight.

"Ruby?"

"Sapphire?"

They ran towards each other, and for a moment, safety was at their fingertips in this giant battle.

Ruby was knocked off to the side by a huge Quartz. It took Sapphire a moment to track her down again. Ruby was no match for a fully developed Quartz solider. It wasn't because the Quartz was stronger than her, but it was because the Quartz had no other goal than to shatter this rebel Ruby. Ruby's mind was set on two things, getting back to Sapphire and survive. It was two things too many.

"Sapphire behind you!"

Sapphire didn't even have to turn around to know what was going to happen. It was written all over Ruby's face.

There was a whistling sound as a weapon was brought down, a crack as the weapon hit her gem, and a pause.

Then the scattered clattering as five shards of sapphire hit the ground.
