There she was. There was something strangely familiar about her. About her, not who she looked like. Pearl understood perfectly that she looked like Rose, but she wasn't thinking about that. She recognized the person for who they were and not who they looked liked.

Pearl had seen this person before. There was something that faintly echoed to her, drawing her in. She didn't even mind the loud, blasting music or the crowd of people that were in desperate need of a shower.

 She was apart from everyone else, one her phone. There were two piercing on her bottom lip and her hair was dyed pink. She could hardly hear Amethyst and Steven telling her not to confront her. She could barely feel the ground under her feet as she walked towards the girl that paid no attention to her.

"Hello." The girl looked up, barely. She didn't have to look up much to maintain eye contact with Pearl. She was at least a foot taller than her, but she put her phone away in her pocket anyways. "My name is Pearl."

Pearl shifted her weight from foot to foot, and offered her hand. She took it and shook it. She was smiling now, and Pearl had only a vague idea of how to continue the conversation.

"Hey, my name's Mystery Girl." Pearl wasn't sure where she knew that name from. Maybe it was a TV show that Steven watched, or maybe an action figure that he kept near his bed.

"So Pearl," she smiled like she was sharing an inside joke. "Did the name come before or after the piercing?" Pearl was confused for just a moment before she burst out laughing. She was so much like Rose, but that wasn't the reason that she was drawn toward her.

"So what's up with you? You don't seem like the person that would come to places like these." Mystery Girl asked, crossing her arm. Pearl stuttered for a moment.

"Um... I saw you, back at the donut place? Remember?" Pearl was curious to see if she would remember.

"Oh yeah! You were wearing something different! Plus, you were driving like crazy back there! I thought you were going to crash!" Pearl laughed. The adrenaline that she felt then was nothing compared to what she felt like now.

"Yeah! I was...trying to keep up with you." Pearl paused for a moment. "And...I was trying to impress you."

This somehow made her laugh.

"Cute."
