Pink Diamond was a very strange character, to say the least.

Earth is very unusual. It has life already living on it, so why bother? There must be other planets just like earth within their range, since it's shown multiple times in the show how far away Homeworld is. There's no telling how far they could travel. But why choose earth? And why did Pink Diamond choose earth?

I feel like Pink Diamond was creative, kind, and very unique. Of course every Diamond that we have met so far is unique, with Yellow Diamond as a authority figure (and meme) and Blue Diamond as a intelligent and caring Diamond.

And I have a feeling that Pink Diamond was the one that came up with ideas. Not really battle plans, like Yellow, or strategies, like Blue, but plans. And when she saw this planet with life already on it, she would have wanted it.

She would have been curious. She would have wanted it under her power, as her first planet.

So what might explain why they had to go to the point of shattering her to keep the planet safe. After all, I have a feeling that the other Diamonds would have destroyed the planet and left to find another. But not Pink.

Curiosity killed the cat and shattered the Diamond.
