⚠ Pink Steven, accidental harming, angst ⚠

-Steven's POV-

Connie and I are face-timing each other right now, and that made me a bit happy.

"I can come over for a visit tomorrow if you want?" she says, with that beautiful smile of hers.
"That'd be great! The gems will be running Little Homeschool, so I'll have the house to myself." I tell her.

"Alright, well, it's getting late; I should get to bed. You should too, okay?" she says.
"Alright, alright. Goodnight, Connie!" I responded, smiling at her. "Goodnight Steven! Love you!" she says before hanging up.

I sigh. "Love you too..." I mumble. I don't get to see her so much anymore.. Maybe that's why I felt a little better face-timing her.
Forget it, Steven. Now is the time to (SEIZE THE DAY- sorry I love that song-) sleep.

I plug my phone in and go to bed, a little excited for tomorrow. Seeing Connie.. That'll be great.

I wake up to my alarm and groan a little. Why did I set that again? Oh right, Connie!!

I get up and get dressed, putting my shoes on and waiting outside. She said she'd be here around 9, and it was 8:30. Well, maybe I should eat.
Why did I wake up so late? Well, I had no early morning chores, so I thought I'd sleep in.

I get some breakfast, actually eating rather than drinking my breakfast today. When I was done, I was washing the plate just as Connie walks in.

"Connie!!" I say, setting the plate down and running over to her. "Hi Steven!!" she says back, hugging me. "I've missed you!" we say at the same time, causing both of us to laugh a little.

"What would you like to do?" I ask.

-Connie's POV-

I don't know how to tell Steven I'm moving for college. I mean, it isn't that far away.. But still.

"Actually, Steven, could we talk outside for a moment?" I ask, making him blink in slight surprise. "Uh, yeah. Sure."

He follows me outside, where I sit in the sand by the ocean and motion for him to join.

"There's... Something I have to tell you, Steven." I say, looking away. "What is it?" he asks in a gentle, almost worried way.
I look back at him. "I.. I have to move away for college-"

"Wh... Wh-what? Oh, nononononono-" he says, standing up and turning away from me. I frown and stand up with him.
"But it's not that far out of town, and we can still visit and call!" I say as he grips at his hair with an almost pained noise.

I frown more, getting worried. "Steven..? What's wrong...?" I ask, going around to look at him.
I was a little surprised; his cheeks were glowing pink. "Nothing!" he says through gritted teeth, taking his hand off his head and looking at me normally.

"It's nothing, Connie." He repeats, but his cheeks are still glowing. At that, he looks distressed.
"Steven, it's okay, breathe for me.." I say gently, but that only seems to make things worse.

He got somewhat of an angry expression. "I don't need to breathe!! I'm fine!!!" he shouts, turning completely pink.
I jump a little. Is this a new power if his?

"Steven please, you're not listening-" I say as he walks towards the water a little. "Oh, I'm listening!! You're leaving just like everybody else is!!!"
"Steven! It won't be that hard for you to keep in contact with me!" I say desperately, trying to calm him down.

"Why can't we go to college together, you know?! Then I could go with you!! You wouldn't have to leave me!!" he says, a desperate smile on his face.
"Steven, you don't know what I've been studying.. And besides that, you'd have to get the money for yourself to go..." I tell him.

-Third Person POV-

"Then fuse with me! We'll stay as Stevonnie and go to college together! Stevonnie would know what you've been studying!" Steven says, still desperate.
Connie got a nervous expression. "But Steven, I want to have people know me, not Stevonnie.."

"So you don't want me there..?" Steven says, shaking a little. Connie frowns. "I... Of course I want you with me, but Steven I-"
"Just can't bring yourself to do it the easy way, huh?!"

"Steven, you need to calm down!" Connie says worriedly. "What makes you think I'm not calm?!" Steven responds with a visibly forced laugh.
"For God sakes, Steven, you're glowing pink, okay?!!" She says, making it all go silent - save for the birds, the crashing of the waves, and the sound of Steven's glow.

He looks at his hands with slightly wide eyes. "That... That happens, okay?! I.. I'm fine!" Steven says, putting both hands to his head and trying to calm down.
Connie walks up to him. "We can still visit each other, talk to each other on the phone, all that.. It's not that far away. Besides, isn't it refreshing to be alone for once?" she says, trying to be comforting.

But Steven found it the opposite.

"NO!!" He shouts, his powers exploding outward and throwing Connie against a rock. It takes him a moment to realize after his glow dies down.

Once he does, his face pales and he runs over to her. "Connie!! Oh god, I'm so sorry!" he says, helping her up.
She winces, holding the back of her head and tearing up a little from pain. "It's... It's fine, Steven, but get me to my mother please..."

"R-right.. Um..." he picked her up and jumped into the air, heading to her mom's house.

Once there, he knocks on the door, and her mother answered. "Hello- What happened to Connie?!!" she says, taking her from Stevens grasp and going straight to fixing her.

"I.. It was an accident... I-i didn't mean to!" Steven says, tearing up.

Connie's mom bandages her head where it was bleeding before looking at Steven sternly. "What did you do to her?!"

"Mom, he didn't mean to!" Connie says frowning. "I'm calling your father!!" Her mom says.

Steven sighs and pulls out his phone. "What are you doing..?" Connie asks as her mom bandages her foot and arm while speaking to Greg.
"Calling Pearl..."

The gems and Greg get there, and Pearl covers her mouth in shock. "S-steven... You didn't really hurt Connie... Did you?" Greg says, pulling Steven out of the house, gems following.

Steven tears up again. "I didn't mean to! It... It was an accident I swear!!" he says. "How could you have been so careless?! You need to control your powers!" Pearl chides.

"Not helping!!" Steven shouts at her, cheeks turning pink again. She jumps back and backs away.
"Steven!" Greg says in surprise, looking at him. Steven pulls away from him and tries to run off, but is caught by Garnet.

He turns fully pink. "Ughhhhh LET ME GO!!!!" He shouts, pushing everyone back and creating a wall.
He drops to the floor, grunting but standing up. "Steven! Come back here! Steven!!!" Pearl calls, banging on the wall to no avail.

Steven runs off. "I can't hurt anyone if no one is around me."
