Peridot x Reader (Pt 3)

"The first time I asked questions about Peridot, made me realise what kind of person she was."

(Y/n) averted her gaze from the alien she stood beside. "Where are you going to go now?" She asked.

"I'm not so sure." For the first time since their encounter with one another, (Y/n) could hear the pain and fear in the alien's voice. She felt bad for her, not only had her mission of a job going horribly wrong, she was deserted on a planet light years away from her real one all alone.

"You could stay with me...until you figure something out of course." (Y/n) offered. The alien went silent.

"I'm not THAT desperate." She huffed, "I do not need protection in your basic, primitive structures." She said, causing (Y/n) to forget why she felt sorry for her.

"Nonsense, your pride is one thing but your attitude is completely appalling. You'd rather keep your pride by refusing a place to stay to seem tough when in reality you act like a moron because even you know, logically, you've got nowhere else to go." (Y/n) argued, forgetting the stain she had on her clothes. The alien girl looked at (Y/n) in surprise. "So please," (Y/n) sighed, "Do yourself a favour and don't be stupid, come back to my place where you will actually be safe."

The alien girl looked at her in disbelief. "Fine, but if anything goes wrong, don't blame me." (Y/n) shrugged.

"I can deal with that."

So the two walked off through the bushes, (Y/n) using her phone as a navigation system while occasionally catching side glances at the alien. The silence between them soon became uncomfortable.

"What's your name?" (Y/n) asked abruptly.

"Why should I tell you?" She responded, her pride being heard clearly. (Y/n) groaned.

"Forget it, I was just trying to be nice." It went silent again.

"Human, where are we-"

"(Y/n)." (Y/n) cut her off.

"What?" The alien asked.

"That's my name, don't call me "human."... Got it?"

"I can call you whatever I like." The alien said.

"No, you can't." (Y/n) responded fiercely, eyeing the green girl.

"Ok then, (Y/n)." the annoyed emphasis to her name made it obvious that the alien had given up. "Where are we headed?"

"Not much farther, we are going to my home." (Y/n) responded. The two continued to walk, occasionally the phone would speak and tell the pair what direction they were in need of moving. Apart from that and the still annoying crickets, no words where mentioned between them.

It wasn't until they were half way though their bushwalk back, that the girl spoke up.

"Peridot."

"Huh?" (Y/n) hummed in confusion.

"Specifically Peridot Facet-2F5L Cut-5XG, you asked about my name." The so called 'Peridot' replied.

"Peridot." (Y/n) repeated, letting the word roll off her tongue, "I'll just call you Peridot... and what's with all the letters and numbers?"

Peridot looked at her, "There are many more of me... it's solely to help identify which Peridot I am." She said the word with distaste, adding something curious to her character.

"You say it like it's a bad thing." (Y/n) spoke up.

"Well, it's not." The snobbish attitude was back. "Are there any other (Y/n)s on Earth?"

"Well, possibly but it's unlikely they would share my surname and even then it's impossible they'd look like me, not one person looks the same here..." The thought of other Peridots from wherever Peridot had come from confused her.

Was it possible that all Peridots looked the same then? She studied Peridot's face closely before eyeing the jewel on her forehead. "Peridot..." She mumbled.

"Yes?... (Y/n)?" She hesitated at the name.

"Oh nothing it's just... there's a Peridot lodged in your forehead, am I right to presume that the reason of your name is the gem?" Peridot nodded.

"Yes, that's...surprisingly accurate for you to hypothesise that." She answered.

"Why is it there? The gem I mean?" she asked. Peridot frowned. "If you don't want to answer it's ok-"

"That's me." (Y/n) paused in confusion.

"That's you." she repeated.

"Correct, your hearing seems flawless." Peridot deadpanned sarcastically.

"I don't understand..." (Y/n) looked at the gem. "The Peridot on your forehead is you? Elaborate." Peridot sighed.

"This body that you are currently talking to is nothing more than a hologram with mass as you could say. The source of my energy, power and form is the gem, hence the name of my species, Gems." (Y/n) went silent.

"So theoretically, there are other... as you say, Gems... like Rubies and Pearls and Amethysts?" Peridot nodded. "And if I'm right... all these gems... there are multiples of them that all look identical apart from their name identification code?" Peridot tensed up. "And if I am correct again... this makes you feel unimportant-"

"Shut it!" a nerve was obviously hit. Peridot was gritting her sharp teeth in anger as (Y/n) bit her lip. She knew she was right, there was no way that Peridot could give a reaction otherwise. She decided to be quiet about that however.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean-"

"You stupid, sympathetic human! You should stop throwing your face where it doesn't concern you!" Peridot seethed, looking once more, menacing and terrifying. (Y/n) went silent, angry sharp breaths from Peridot made it obvious she wasn't happy, if the outburst hadn't already clued (Y/n) in.

They continued walking, the rest of the trip quiet. Not even the crickets chirped anymore, probably pitying (Y/n)'s previous actions. Peridot's breathing had calmed down significantly but (Y/n) hadn't expected her to treat her with kindness for a while. (Y/n) looked at their shadows that were casted upon the floor from the moonlight.

Peridot was rather tall compared to herself. She didn't know whether that was terrifying in the case she attacked her, or comforting for the chance they be attacked. Nothing appeared from the tall grass though, much to (Y/n)'s relief. They eventually discovered the dirt road, the same one (Y/n) had walked upon a while ago. It lead directly to her house, isolated from any other building.

Wordlessly, (Y/n) pulled the keys from a pocket in her bag, silently unlocking the door with a click and stepping aside, allowing Peridot to enter. She watched as the Gem hesitated, walking past the doorframe once she was certain it was safe.

(Y/n) followed in pursuit after her, shutting and locking the door once more before flicking the nearby light switch. The open plan home suddenly illuminated. The living room being the main feature with the kitchen slightly to the right. Directly across the room was a hallway which lead to a bathroom and a master bedroom, a spare room was waiting patiently right next to the bathroom.

(Y/n) sighed as she dumped her bag on the sofa that sat in the middle of the living room. She entered her bedroom and changed her clothes from the soiled ones before returning to the main quarters of the house. Across the sofa was a small coffee table on which she propped her feet with. Leaning over to the side of the chair, (Y/n) dug around for the TV remote, fiddling with a few buttons before finally executing the actions in order to turn the device on.

All attention from Peridot was removed and replaced on the TV, she flicked through the channels quickly, before settling in on one that was playing a movie. She frowned as the seen unfolded before her eyes, uncertain of the film that was playing.

A woman and a man were there. "You're a sadist?" She said. (Y/n) inspected the scene closely.

"I'm a dominant." The man replied.

"What does that mean?"

"It means that I want you to willingly surrender yourself to me."

(Y/n) blushed a deep scarlet as the thoughts of an uncleansed 19 year old brain spoke to her. Her hand grasped the remote quickly, her finger inching towards the arrow that would change the channel.

"Why would I do that?" the woman asked the man.

"To please me."

(Y/n) felt the pounding in her head as the sentences the actors had said, began to register in her mind. Meanwhile, Peridot, who wasn't far behind, had begun to direct her attention towards (Y/n).

At first Peridot was intrigued by the contraption she deemed to "be able to waste a human's life" but found that the electronically enhanced receptors at the tips of her floating digits raised high in numbers when closer to (Y/n).

Peridot stood behind (Y/n) in curiosity, the pain (Y/n) had brought on the trip home was pushed aside as she studied the girl's temperature. It was increasing. In fact, the more (Y/n) watched, as Peridot's results conducted, the warmer (Y/n)'s body seemed to be.

"Why would I do that?" The lady on the screen had spoken.

"To please me." Peridot's eyes widened when (Y/n)'s body seemed to get warmer, jumping up quickly.

"To please you? How?" the woman's voice was heard once more.

"I have rules." The male said, "If you follow them, I'll reward you. If you don't, I'll punish you."

"What can I get out of this?" the lady asked.

"Me."

(Y/n)'s eyes widened as she turned the TV to another channel, her breathing slightly faster as the blood continued to rush to her head. "Who in their right mind puts that on at..." she checked a digital clock that rested on the wall, "9:30?!" she rubbed her face as she flicked through the channels once more, coming across the movie she had begun to watch again before flicking the screen off. Peridot studied her posture.

"You humans waste your time in the most unbelievable of ways." (Y/n) jumped at Peridot's nasal voice, holding back the urge to point out that Peridot was meant to still be mad at her.

"Well, I was going to watch only a little...I didn't expect to find THAT on at this time..." she shuddered in despise.

"It appeared that whatever it is you were viewing on your vision screen had caused the temperature of your body to fluctuate, mainly going up. Although your heartrate increased dramatically." Peridot reported.

(Y/n) stared in disbelief. "Um did you not see what was going on...like at all?" Peridot frowned in confusion.

"Humans merely talking?" She guessed, slightly annoyed.

"They were being...suggestive." The word toppled right out of (Y/n)'s mouth as if it were tabooed.

"Suggestive about what exactly?" Peridot asked, unamused. (Y/n) shook her head.

"Don't worry about it..." She mumbled.

"Was what you were watching a live broadcast?" She asked.

"Heavens no! It's just a movie... 50 Shades of Grey to be exact." (Y/n) trembled. "A movie which I'm to uncomfortable watching." (Y/n) noted the confused look in Peridot's eyes. "A movie is a pre-recorded video about 1 and a half hours long on average, which has a story plot, it's usually created for entertainment."

"The sole purpose is entertainment." Peridot repeated. "What an absolute rubbish way to waste a life." She declared marching from her spot behind the sofa towards the stool next to it.

"Do you want to watch one?" (Y/n) offered in hopes of making a plausible relationship with the Gem.

"There are more?" Peridot asked in surprise.

"Hundreds upon hundreds." (Y/n) replied, "So, are you in?" Peridot debated within her mind on whether or not to take up the offer.

"Very well," She said, "I shall review the source of most human's amusement." She shifted her body to sit on the opposite end of the sofa (Y/n) was sitting on, as if (Y/n) had had a deadly virus that would spread to her if she got to close. (Y/n) grinned and pulled out a box of movies from under the sofa.

"Great! Now let's see here...." (Y/n) hummed, flicking her fingers through the many cases that held disks. "What interests you the most?" She turned towards the green gem, lifting a brow in the process.

"Uh...interests?" She questioned.

"Yeah, what do you like the most?" (Y/n) rephrased. Peridot went silent.

"If you refer to my personal choices then I'd have to say I neither have nor had the time for interests." Her response surprised (Y/n).

"None?! What is it that you do on your home planet?"

"Homeworld." Peridot corrected," I am simply a certified kindergartener and technician, just like the other Peridots." She grit her teeth as she spoke, the words seeming to be venom.

"Oh ok and uh...I get the technician part but what is a um..."Kindergartener?"... well, in Earth terms I know what it means but something tells me it's not the same for you on uh...Homeworld."

"I run the kindergarten, making sure that the gems are stable and growing at an efficient rate." Peridot paused, "To Earth, what IS a Kindergartener?"

"Well," (Y/n) began, "In different parts of the world there are other names for this term but the one meaning is still the same, it is a noun that refers to 5-6 year old humans that go to a place before school, the school before the actual school if you put."

"What's a school?" Peridot asked.

"A place where humans go to learn." (Y/n) replied.

"Learn? Pftt, as Gems, we know all the information we need when we emerge from the ground." Peridot bragged.

"Emerge?" (Y/n) asked.

"Yes, gems are created through the minerals in the ground, the place they are made in is called the Kindergarten and Kindergarteners check in on it." Peridot explained.

"I doubt you know EVERYTHING the moment you emerge." (Y/n) said quietly.

"What? Speak up Human." (Y/n) frowned as Peridot called her "Human", she probably was still too mad to call her by her name.

"How is it possible that you know everything the moment you existed?" (Y/n) asked again.

"That, is classified." Peridot said.

"No it's not." (Y/n) said, "Why would something like that be classified?"

"Yes, yes it is." Peridot argued, ignoring her question.

"No."

"Yes."

"You're lying."

"I am not."

"You are."

"No!"

"Yes!"

"BE QUIET HUAMN!" Peridot snapped in annoyance. She sighed and rubbed her floating fingers over her face. "For the human who is the most intelligent on this planet, you are so stupid." (Y/n) frowned.

"My name isn't Human, it's (Y/n), so start calling me that." She defended.

"I can call you what I want." Peridot sneered. (Y/n) looked at her sadly before nodding.

"Alright Peridot, be like that, we can watch a movie another time, I'm going to sleep." (Y/n) looked away as she stood up, making her way towards the bathroom. She walked towards the door but hesitated at the door knob. She turned around and looked the Gem dead in the eyes, daring to show her disappointment, "You know what Peridot?" She began. "I may be stupid to you, and I very well agree-"

"See? Finally you have some common sen-" (Y/n) held up a hand to shut Peridot up.

"But I, unlike you, have a heart-"

"Obviously- Gems don't need such organs when our energy comes from our Gem." (Y/n) gave her a look.

"I chose to let you stay, and if being stupid means being kind then so be it because I'd rather be a nice, stupid person than a smart, mean one." She turned to leave the room, pushing the door open and entering.

Peridot looked in surprise as she poked her head out one last time. "Welcome to Earth, Peridot."
