Childish!Peridot x Reader

(Y/n). P.O.V

"I don't know what's wrong! He's not sick, quite healthy on the contrary and yet he complains of a 'burning head'!" Pearl fretted.

"Uh Pearl, we found blood!" Amethyst's voice was heard in the background.

"BLOOD?!" Pearl yelled into my ear. "Oh please hurry (y/n), we have no idea what to do!" I sighed.

"I'll be there in a second."

I raced down the stairs and pulled on my shoes before jogging towards the home of the Crystal Gems.

"STEVEN STOP TOUCHING YOUR HEAD!" Pearl screeched like the bird mom she was.

I pushed open the door and entered the building to find Pearl jump at me. My smaller frame struggled to keep balance.

"Please help! Is he going to die?!" She cried.

"I highly doubt that." Peridot's voice called.

"Hello Peridot, why are you here?" I asked puzzled.

"Same reason as you- Pearl's overreaction to this." She dragged Steven over.

I walked towards him and knelt down. "Hey Steven, how's your head?" I asked him.

"Annoying." He mumbled. I frowned.

"Why so-" I looked at Peridot who was scratching her head then turned to Steven who did the same then revealed his bloody finger tips.

"AGH STEVEN!" Pearl fretted.

"Ok Steven, is your head itchy?" I asked, standing up.

"Yeah..." he mumbled.

"Ok that explains the blood." I pointed out.

"What? How?" Pearl asked.

"He's been scratching his head a lot, therefore he scratched the scalp." I said.

"But why?" Amethyst said. Peridot walked over.

"I fear the scratching is contagious." She mumbled.

"I'm afraid you're right..." Garnet walked over and handed me an elastic hair tie, probably knowing where we were headed.

I tied my hair up and retrieved Steven's phone. "All of you tie your hair back except Peridot and Steven... I need to call Connie's mom."

"STEVEN'S SICK?!" Pearl freaked out.

"I'm here to." Peridot added.

"And Peridot." Pearl said.

I flipped through Steven's contacts as Garnet placed two stools in the middle of the floor. The floor was covered with a plastic sheet and two buckets where filled with water.

"Garnet?" Amethyst asked.

"It's ok you two... Peridot, Steven, sit on these." Garnet instructed as Connie answered the phone.

"Hello? Connie speaking!" She chirped.

"Connie? It's me, (y/n)." I said.

"(Y/n)? Why are you on Steven's phone? Is he okay?" She asked.

"Yeah he's fine but uh... we may need to borrow your mom... Steven has lice. And Peridot I suspect."

"Nasty... i'll tell my mom to being the lice kit to." She said before bidding me good bye.

"Lice? What's lice?" Pearl asked.

"A pest that lives in human hair, causes itching when they bite and are hard to get rid of especially when they lay more eggs."

"And Peridot has them to." Amethyst stared.

"Unfortunately, which will be harder than Steven's to remove." I mumbled.

"Why?" Peridot asked.

"One, your hair is thick and two, it's got a shape which I'm sure will be annoying to deal with." I pointed out.

"Ok I'm here, who has the lice?!" Connie's mom burst into the house. Everyone pointed to the two in chairs.

"Oh heavens, the ones with the most difficult of hair." Dr Maheswaren sighed.

"This is why you should be cautious about touching heads with other people." She said, handing me a nit comb.

"You do her's and I'll do Steven's." She said, tying up her own hair.

"You guys should treat your own hair to, for safety measures." I offered, passing a bottle of lice removal shampoo.

"Uh... do we eat it?" Amethyst asked.

"No you put it in your heads like this." I demonstrated, running it through the pony tail part of my hair. "But do it on the roots to."

Dr Maheswarn began to tend to Steven while being careful of the scratches.

"Sorry bout this Peridot." I said, wetting her entire hair until it fell flat.

"AGH!" She screeched. "CLODS DAMN IT CLOD!"

I split her hair which was surprisingly smooth and began to mix in the shampoo, using a nit comb to take out any of the eggs and lice.

"Thankfully you only just got them so you shouldn't have many." I said, trying my best to gently pull the comb through.

"OWW!" She yelled, squeezing my hand tightly.

"I'm so sorry about this." I said, rubbing her arm reassuringly. She grumbled some unheard words as I continued to split her hair.

Eventually I reached the front but struggled to get to the hair behind the visors. I sighed, embracing the struggle.

"I know you won't like this but... you'll need to take off your visors." I waited for her to yell, bite, scream and kick.

I was sure everyone embraced it to. "Ok." She said uncertainly, allowing me to remove the screen. Everyone looked in surprise before retiring to their rooms to do their own hair as Peridot opened her eyes.

"Aw what a pretty blue." I cooed, pulling the comb through.

"... Thanks." She said. After a few more minutes, I gather her hair and pulled it into a pony tail like mine.

"We leave this in for a couple hours and then rinse it out." I explained as Steven squeaked.

By then the gems had returned from treating their own hair, each with ponytails to.

Garnets was surprisingly square.

"How much longer will Steven take?" Pearl asked.

"A little longer since he has thick curly hair. Surprisingly I figured he'd be quicker." Dr Maheswaren explained, continuing to create multiple pig tails.

"After a while Steven's was done and running around with Peridot as the rest of us rinsed and washed.

"Where did Steven get these pests from anyways?" Pearls asked, neatly pulling her hair back.

"Probably someone with lice, that's how they spread." Dr Maheswaren said.

"Well I sure as heck never want to experience that again." Amethyst said. "Do you have any idea how long it takes."

"You were faster than Peridot." Garnet pointed out.

"Well I still didn't like it." Amethyst brushed her locks as Garnet released the elastic band, bringing satisfaction as her hair literally popped into shape.

"Ok I think we should sort Peridot out now." Dr Maheswaren said, looking at me.

"Got it." I nodded, walking towards the green gem.

"Hello (y/n)." She cheered as I noted the messy hair.

"Come on, we have to go rinse out the soap." I said.

"Now? But Steven was showing me a new show!" She grumbled.

"Yes now." I said gently. She folded her arms like a bratty child and turned her head.

"I refuse!" She said. I rolled my eyes.

"Come on Peri." I said, scooping her up in my arms.

"Unhand me!" She cried although the struggle wasn't there.

"Your so funny." I said as we made or way towards the bathroom.

"It's torture!" She cried.

"Gee, aren't you some elite gem with a certified kindergarten thing?" I asked.

"Yes- so by the name of all my authority I DEMAND YOU RELEASE ME." She whined.

I only held her closer.

"How old are you? 3? Come on..." I said teasingly.

"573..." Peridot mumbled into my ear, I could feel her talk on my shoulder as she slouched over me.

"Well then start acting 573." I said, lowering her into the bath. I blushed and pinched her cheeks. She was the most adorable thing ever!

She clung to my side as I attempted to shake her off. "Come on cutie, we have to fix your abomination of what you call hair.

"Don't call me cute! Besides, it wouldn't be like this if you didn't touch it!"

"True but then you'd be scratching at your head." I pointed out, running the water. "Don't wet your body, just tilt your head down under the water."

She complied with my instructions as I helped to remove the soap from her hair. My fingers ran through the unknotted locks, it was so smooth I wasn't sure if I had gotten all the soap out or not.

While staring at the floor of the tub, peridot frowned. "Am I allowed to have my visors back?" She mumbled.

"Sure ya can." I said, "After this." She groaned for what ever reason as I continued to rinse her hair, her hand on top of mine the entire time.

"You know you look prettier without the visors right?" I asked.

"Is that sarcasm?" Peridot asked.

"What? No! I'm being honest! Your eyes are so pretty... it's hard not to get lost in them." I turned off the tap and grabbed the towel that Pearl had placed half an hour before.

"Come here." I said sweetly, wrapping the gem's entire body with the fluffy material. I giggled before kissing her nose lightly.

"What was that for?" She asked, blushing heavily.

"Sorry, you're just so-" I refrained from saying "CUTE", "ADORABLE! It's hard not to." I shrugged sheepishly as I rubbed the top of her head.

After two minutes of drying her hair, I placed the towel back on the rack and lifted Peridot out of the tub.

"You know I'm old enough to climb out myself right?" She said.

I kissed her gem. "I do but I don't want you running off. We aren't done." I said, picking up the hairdryer and quickly turning it on.

Sitting on the bathroom stool, I let Peridot sit on my lap as I began to blow dry her hair.

As the heat blew lightly across her head, the hairs in their roots began to pop back up into the Dorito shape it was.

"Are we done now?" Peridot groaned. I placed her on the ground and nodded.

"Let's get your visors hm?" I asked her. She nodded as she held my hand tightly, exiting the bathroom. Dr Maheswaren had already begun to direct Steven to the bathroom as Peridot and I greeted the others.

"Peridot, want your visors?" Amethyst handed the gem her eye ware as she looked up at me uncertainly like a child that was lost.

"Go on." I coaxed as she stared undecided. Then, with out warning, she snapped the plastic in half. The gems stared in disbelief as Pearl threw away the plastic Peridot had thrown.

Peridot blushed again before hugging the side of my body tightly. "You ok Peri?" I asked. She nodded and nuzzles her face against me.

"Well then, I guess no more visor huh?"Amethyst guessed as I picked Peridot up.

"Your like a child all cute like that you know that right?" I asked. Peridot only buried her face into my neck.

"Mmmm don't call me cute." She mumbled. I grinned.

"Nah... imma call you cutie pie cause your a little slice of pie." I said, adjusting my arms to hold her under her bottom. She wrapped her little legs around my waist and remained hidden by my hair.

Then it was my turn to blush. She wrapped her arms tightly around my shoulders as Amethyst let out a low whistle and Garnet gave us a thumbs up.

"What?" I asked as Steven exited the bathroom, covered in a towel with damp hair.

"Oh hey guys... aw Peridot gets to be carried and I don't? You said I was to old Pearl but Peridot is hundreds of years older!" Steven poured.

Pearl rolled her eyes. "Put your clothes on Steven." Dr Maheswaren entered the room as Steven slowly went back into the bathroom to change.

"At least he's clean for bed now." I pointed out.

"Alright I think all the lice are dead." Connie's mom handed me a lice prevention spray. "Just use this to prevent this situation... I'n going to go check Connie's head to be safe." She said, waving goodbye.

"Thank you!" Pearl called as Steven ran into the room.

"STEVEN BOMB!" He yelled, jumping into Pearl's arms.

"GAH! Steven!" Pearl stumbled at the surprise weight in her arms.

"Shh." Garnet said, pressing a finger to her lips. "Peridot is sleeping."

"She is?" Steven asked as I pet her head.

"Yup." I said, checking her, "she's out like a light."

"Strange." Pearl said, putting Steven down. "I at least expect her to be all 'don't touch me CLOD this and drop me now CLOD that'... yet she seems perfectly fine in your arms."

I shrugged. "Maybe she just likes clods like me."
