Peace at Last

Steven's POV.

The leader quickly went over to his troops and demanded them to leave the premises. Not wanting to get fired, they obliged and started to pack up. I watched them bring all their materials to the trucks scattered on the beach. He called his supervisor telling them the report was a farce and he looked happy and they left with no worry. When the last car left and all the men left I returned to my body. I woke up to have the gems, Dad, and Connie surrounding me.

"You did it!" Amethyst shouted.

"Yeah, I was able to trick him to think that I was a ghost," I replied.

"So, are they gone for good?" Pearl asked.

"I'm pretty sure they will be gone for a while," I replied.

"Garnet what do you think? Will they be gone for a while?" Pearl asked.

"They most likely won't come back for a long time," She replied.

"I'm going to call my Mom and see how it is going," Connie explained. She quickly pulled out her phone and called her mom.

"Hey Connie, is it true what I heard? If so I am sorry," her mom shouted into the phone.

"Mom where are you right now?" Connie asked.

"I'm in my car. There is no one around me," she replied.

"Ok, Mom what all did you hear?" Connie asked.

"The leader said that Steven was killed and there was no point in continuing the mission," she replied.

"It's okay Mom he is still alive. Thankfully he was able to deceive the officer with his powers," Connie explained.

"Thank goodness you two are okay. I will come and pick you up at Steven's place," she replied. Connie hung up the phone and looked at peace. Eventually Connie's mom made it to the temple and she knocked on the front door.

"Hi Mrs. Mahashwaren," I greeted as I opened the door.

"Are you okay Steven I heard you got shot?" she asked in a motherly tone.

"What you heard was true. I was shot, but thankfully I was able to heal," I replied.

"Did you successfully remove the bullet?" she asked.

"Yeah it disappeared," I replied.

"That is good to hear. I would suggest that you all be careful. The government rarely drops things like this. You must be vigilant," she suggested.

"Thank you Mrs. Mahashwaren," I replied.

"At least we have beach city on our side. It will be easy to blend in with our friends," Amethyst said.

"Yeah, if they come back we will make them look stupid for ever attempting to find us," I claimed.

"Thank goodness we are all safe," Pearl said.

"Pearl I will not be returning to school. Back to home school for me," I claimed.

"Yeah I'm starting to believe K-12 is a good option," Garnet replied.

"Connie, I'm sorry for putting you in danger. If I knew the outcome I would have never gone to your school," I apologized.

"Steven it is alright, you were protecting yourself. Some dumb rich kid is not going to change my mind. I love you Steven and I will always be by your side," she replied as she ran over to hug me.

"I love you too Connie," I replied as I hugged her back. She let go as her phone buzzed. There is news on the school board.

"Levi has been expelled for causing a false investigation that ended in the death of a child," Connie read.

"Thank god, karma got him. I lost my humanity to that kids actions," I growled.

"That is great news. Without him the school is a great place. I will be safe with my return," Connie shouted.

"His dad will leave beach city. That means that I will be safe," I claimed.

"Well it is getting late. I should take Connie home," Mrs. Mahashwaren explained.

"Alright, goodbye Connie," I said as I gave her a hug.

"Goodbye Steven," she replied as she grabbed my face and kissed me while blushing. She walked over to her mom and started to head out. It was finally normal again and I felt a since of peace for the first time in forever. I was thankful to be able to live with my family in peace again.
