Talking to Connie

Bull breathed in and knocked on the door. Less than a minute later, Connie's father Doug Maheswaran opened the door. He looked at the two people at his porch in surprise. "Bull Dane? What are you doing here?" He asked in surprise, "oh, hello Steven." Bull waved and said, "hello, you must be Connie's father. Nice to meet you." Doug sheepishly chuckled and said, "nice to meet you too, Mr. Dane. My daughter told me that she met you, but I didn't expect to see you at my front porch. Wow, you are tall even in real life." He kindly shook his hand. "May we please come in?" Bull kindly asked. "Why certainly," said Doug as he allowed Steven and Bull to come into their home. "Mr. Maheswaran, is Connie home?" Steven nervously asked.

"Of course she is," said Doug as he then called up, "Connie! We have some guests who want to speak to you!" Connie then said while walking down the stairs, "coming!" Once she was downstairs, she was surprised to see Steven. Bull then faced Doug and said, "uh, Mr. Maheswaran...?" He then jerked his head the other way as an indication to him to leave Steven and his daughter alone so that the young boy could talk to her. Doug immediately got the gist of it. As the two men left, Bull gave an encouraging nod and wink to Steven. The two stared at each other awkwardly. "Hey..." Steven said, scared. "Hi..." Connie replied awkwardly. "Nice weather you're wearing..." Steven said, causing Doug and Bull to give a look of chagrin. "Ugh, I can tell this is going to go worse than the time I played that old Mongrel dog in that play to Of Mice and Men," grumbled Bull. "I, uh, got your texts..." Connie acknowledged. "Oh, yeah; I forgot about those, because I've been living," said Steven, trying to act cool. "Well that's good I guess," said Connie, "there's just one thing I don't understand... How did you meet Bull Dane?"

"It's kind of a funny story..." Steven chuckled, "I was handing out missing posters for Lion, and I found Bull relaxing at the beach. I totally didn't expect him to be occupying your neighbor's airbnb." Bull and Doug overheard and Bull whispered, "I mean, what were the odds right? Talk about crazy coincidences." Doug couldn't help but snort from laughter. "Yeah, guess so," said Connie, "anyway, glad you're doing well... that's all I really wanted to know. Glad you made a new friend..." Steven was unsure what to say next. "Connie...?" She sighed and said, "Steven, I wasn't trying to ignore you... I was going to text you back... I wrote, I can't talk to you right now... but then I realized if I sent that, that would be talking to you... And it didn't make any sense, I wasn't making any sense! If we were going to talk, it's gotta be in person. So I rode Lion to your house but there was a note that said gone vacationing. Now you're here with actor Bull Dane of all people, and I still don't know what to say to you... I'm angry? I miss you? I feel like I'm out of my mind!"

"No, you're not," said Steven, surprising Connie, "I surrendered myself to Homeworld. I let them take me away; maybe forever, and then, I came back and I tried to act like it was no big deal... But it was a big deal. I couldn't stand the thought of you being taken on that ship... But then I did that to you! I promised you we'd always be a team, and... I let you down. I'm sorry." He tearfully looked at her. "Jam Buds?" Steven asked. Connie tearfully smiled and said, "Jam Buds." The two smiled and hugged each other, fully reconciled. Even Bull was moved to tears. "It's so good to talk to you," said Connie, "I've been wanting to see you really badly... Hey, nice shirt." Steven chuckled and said, "Nice hair." Connie giggled and said, "thank you." Bull casually knocked on the wall and asked, "mind if I chime in?" Steven and Connie looked at Bull, and Steven happily said, "Bull, thanks for helping us revive our friendship." They then hugged Bull. He hugged back and said, "ay, no problem. I'm just glad I could help. Gotta say, this has been an interesting vacation so far."
