Escapism

The next day while Bull and Lapis hung out, Peridot then regenerated, in a brand new appearance. Suddenly, Lion was carrying a rather large watermelon in his mouth. "Lion, is that a watermelon in your mouth?" Bull asked, surprised. The watermelon then looked at Bull. Bull's eyes widened in shock. "Did that watermelon just...?" he asked, slack jawed. "You get used to it." Lapis nonchalantly said. Bull looked at the watermelon, and noticed it had an uncanny resemblance to Steven. The watermelon started to make unintelligible noises, as if it was trying to say something. "Steven?" Bull asked, "is that you?" The watermelon that looked like Steven nodded in confirmation. Bull was at a loss for words. "I thought..." was what he could muster, "do you... Need help?" The sentient watermelon that looked like Steven nodded and pointed up at the sky. "I think he needs us to go to Homeworld," deduced Lapis. "It would appear things have gone south for Steven and the Gems," said Peridot. The sentient watermelon nodded in confirmation. "Don't worry little guy," promised Bismuth, "I've fixed Yellow Diamond's spaceship, so we'll be on our way." The sentient watermelon grew weak, but it managed to give a thumbs up as it lay limp on the ground. Then it became a lifeless watermelon. Bull was stumped.

"I gotta help them," said Lapis, "I'm going with Peridot and Bismuth to Homeworld." Bull nodded and said, "I understand. If you don't see me, it's probably because I'm back in Hollywood. Be safe out there, okay?" Lapis formed her water wings to lift up onto the ground and gave Bull a kiss on the cheek. "Don't worry, I'll be safe," she promised, "I'm a Crystal Gem." She smiled while waving goodbye at Bull as she followed Lion, Bismuth, and Peridot into the spaceship. The spaceship then flew out of Earth's orbit. Bull watched the spaceship fly away. Also watching with him was Greg. "Want to come in for a drink?" he offered.

Bull and Greg were inside the house having a drink of chocolate milk. One could say that Bull was a chocoholic. "You like her, don't you?" Greg deduced. Bull's ears perked up as he obliviously asked, "who?" Greg nodded and said, "ya know, Lapis. I've seen the way you two act towards each other." Bull realized what Greg was talking about, and blushed, rubbing his arm. "Yeah, I got a crush on her," he admitted. "Hey, it's no biggie," said Greg, "I honestly think it's cute. It reminds me of when I fell in love with Rose. So I can relate bud." He gave Bull a reassuring nod. "I just hope she'll be okay," said Bull as he got worried. "I know how you feel," related Greg, "I mean that's my son who's trying to talk to White Diamond. And I hear she ain't good news!"

"I bet," said Bull as the two of them silently drank their chocolate milk. "If things succeed, I hope I can convince the Gems to make a warp pad to Hollywood," said Bull. "Why's that?" Greg asked curiously. "Well if things are going to get serious between Lapis and I," explained Bull, "I want to be with her physically. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that long distant relationships ain't easy. I understand Lapis considers this place her home, and I don't want to force her to leave. I could easily buy a house here, but I still got a job... You know what I mean?" Greg nodded and said, "hey take it from the guy who gave up his music career to be with the woman he fell in love with. So I get it. And a warp pad to LA ain't a bad idea. I hear traffic there is a nightmare nowadays. My advice to you Bull, is don't make the same mistakes I did, trust me. I encourage you to follow your heart. And hey, you and Lapis would make a cute couple." Bull felt a sense of hope with Greg's words.
