Pearl drives in the front of the van at the steering wheel, focusing on getting Rose and the other Gems to safety away from Greg. Steven, as a baby, starts crying behind her as she hears something glow nearby.

"I'm here! You know me! You know them too! I don't understand." Garnet sniffs and Pearl looks back at the road. She pulls the van to a stop near a cliff. She turns the ignition key to stop the engine and she steps into the back of the van to join the others.

"Everyone, calm down." Pearl takes Steven away from his blanket and Amethyst. Steven stops crying as Pearl holds him in her arms. She sits down in between the Gems and she puts her hand out. "Look, we can all see her. She's right there!"

Garnet and Amethyst move in to gaze at Rose's gem. "She just can't reform because she has this...baby around her." Pearl looks down at Steven. "Rose, I know you're in there." Pearl smiles, putting her hand up. "I can let you out."

Pearl reaches out to the gem on Steven's stomache with her free hand. "We'll be...together..." Pearl grabs the gem with a firm grip of her fingers. "Again." With a pull, Pearl carefully removes the gem from Steven.

The next moment, the Gems, except Pearl, start screaming. Blood pours out of Steven from the hole in which his gem once was. Pearl gazes into the gem that she took, ignoring the dying baby behind it.

"Rose, can come out now." She grits her teeth. "Rose?" She waits expectantly as the Gems continue to scream at her. "Rose?!" She tears up. "ROSE!" Something slaps her cheek. She turns to face Amethyst.

"PEARL! BABY ROSE IS DYING!" Pearl finally looks away from the gem and she covers her mouth the minute she sees Steven bleeding all over her form. "Oh my stars. What have I done?!"

She shivers, haunted by the action she just committed. "PEARL!" Pearl turns to Garnet who is glaring right at her. "DO SOMETHING! SHE'S DYING!" Tears stream down on Garnet's cheeks as Pearl stares at Steven, flabbergasted. "I-uh-don't-know. Uh-um-I'M-SORRY!"

A tear drops from her cheeks into Steven's stomache where the hole is. "Rose! I'm so sorry!" The Gems watch helplessly as Steven continues to bleed. His wailing starts to calm down due to the dramatic amount of blood loss he's taking.

Pearl looks at the gem in her other hand. "Uh IT'S GOING TO BE OKAY, ROSE!" She places the gem back into the stomache hole...but the blood only continues to pour from the edges of his gem. "WAIT! MAYBE...I...CAN...
JUST...GET IT...TO WORK!"

Pearl helplessly pushes the gem into Steven's stomache, only to make him bleed faster. Seconds later the baby's crying ceases as the last bits of his blood pour down onto his killer. Steven closes his eyes and his body shuts down forever.

Back in the temple, Pearl covers her face as Steven, Greg, Garnet and Amethyst stare at her. "I'm so sorry." She sulks over her story as she heads to the counter. "Wait, if that happened, then why am I still here?"

"That last part was exaggerated." Pearl sighs. "I just have nothing good to tell you know?" Steven exhales in relief. "Thank goodness."
"It was just..." Pearl's voice shakes as she grabs the cooking pot handle.

"Something that I could've done to you had it not been for your disturbance. I just couldn't handle the fact that Rose was really gone." She carries the pot over to the living room.

"Huh." Pearl takes the teabag out the cup she gives Greg. She bends down to give it to Amethyst. "Here you go, Amethyst." She smiles a sad smile. "Thanks, Pearl." She takes the whole thing into her mouth and she swallows it in one big gulp.

Pearl gets up and she heads back to the counter to put the pot back on the stove. She sighs as Steven frowns at her. "Uh...why don't just uh...I don't know." She looks down at the ground. "I'm...gonna go." She heads to the temple door.

Her gem on her forehead glows and the door opens. "Bye." She steps into her room and the door closes. Steven pulls up his sweater to stare down at his gem. Everyone else looks from his gem to the window and the snow storm beyond it.
