It's Over, Isn't It (Mr. Greg)

Pearl detaches her hands from the balcony wall and she she sighs as she heads into the bedroom where Steven and Greg have been listening and watching Pearl sing her agressive love song.

She looks up from the ground and she gasps and blushes in shock and embarrassment. She clutches her top hat firmly against her chest. "Greg!" Steven quickly turns his head around to see Greg getting up from the bed he's sitting against.

Pearl's voice shakes, still flabbergasted. "You were...awake." Greg puts on a white robe and he pushes his hair out of it. "Nothing's gonna fix this, isn't it?" He doesn't turn his head to face her as he heads for the door.

"GREG!" Greg opens the door. "I'm sorry you had to be around me." He steps out of the room as closes the door a crack behind him. "Dad!" Pearl looks down, feeling guilty for the performance she just pulled off. "I shouldn't have come along."

Steven clutches the bedsheets as he glares at the door. "Maybe..." He turns his glare towards Pearl. "You shouldn't have come on this trip in the first place." Pearl grits her teeth. "I'm sorry! It's just that Greg...and Rose! Ugh!"

She glares down at the hat.
"Why did you do that, Pearl?"
"What? The singing?!" She blushes once more. "That was just-!"
"No. I mean...why?"
Pearl turns to face the balcony.

"I always thought that Rose and I...had something. We were inseparable back during the war. She really did see me the way she saw HIM!" Her grip on the hat tightens. "But when that happened, I felt...like she was already gone even though she is now."

She looks up at the sky. "The Rose that I knew never came back. She became you and I just feel so left out! Like I didn't matter that much to her anymore. And today, today wasn't like anything I could've ever thought of being a part of." She chuckles.

"We were having so much fun...
singing and dancing as if nothing else mattered. But whenever it comes to him, I feel as if...he ruined my life. Which he did!" Pearl steps out onto the balcony. "She's gone because of him!"

Steven steps out onto the balcony as Pearl heads over to the wall. "You came and...now she's gone. Forever. What did she ever see in a dope such as himself that she couldn't see in me?! I'm a Gem! A Pearl! We can actually fuse and not just...dance the night away!"

Pearl presses both hands against her face. "It wasn't supposed to be this way. None of this was. Steven, just do me a favor and-!" She turns around to see that Steven has left. Her eyes widen as she drops the hat. She rushes for the door, panting. "Steven!"

She hurries down the elevator and towards the entrance of the hotel. She reaches the rotating door and she pushes through. She steps out just in time to see Greg's van pulling away. "GREG! STEVEN!" The van drives off into the distance, leaving Pearl behind.

"I'm sorry, Rose." She looks down at the red carpet she's standing on. "I guess it really is over now, isn't it?" She starts walking down the sidewalk. "Well Pearl, you've really done it this time! You just had to go in there and sing a song just like you do with every chance you've been given just to blow it all up!"

She groans in her anguish. "Why did I have to come to this party? I just shouldn't have come along this whole time! Things would've been much better off with me!" She puts her hands in her pockets. "I just don't understand."

She heads out of the city and she makes her way back to the temple. "Rose, if you can hear me, please." She looks up at the sky. "Please help Greg forgive me for what I've done and...
no. It's over. It's over...for good." She glares at the path ahead of her as she heads back home.
