How to Deal With a Bunch of Aggravating, Overprotective Brothers

A/N: The guys of the team aren't actually the reader's brothers, they just act like it. This imagine was hard but fun to write. I had trouble finishing it, I still don't know how that worked out. (I really don't know what that ending is supposed to be. It's weird, kind of unexpected, I guess....) I hope you enjoy reading this imagine! PS. Full lines written in italics can be heard through to comms. The first few lines written in italics are lines that the reader can hear from the Avengers HQ and the rest of the team can hear the latter lines from the bar. Sorry if that's super confusing! I just wanted to emphasize the use of comms (Also, the title sucks, what's new?)

Warning(s): avengers being overprotective and endorsing violence on a harmless guy who's trying to flirt with the reader (i'm making this sound way more dramatic than it actually is, they're not like trying to get the guy all beaten up)

You were getting ready in your room, dolling yourself up for an undercover mission. You finished applying your makeup and walked over to the bed where you had lain your gun and its holster. You moved the hem of your dress out of the way, took the holster and wrapped it around your left thigh, making sure it was tight enough.

"Look at you," you heard Steve say from behind you and you let out a quiet laugh. You took the gun and placed it in its holster on the inside of your thigh while turning around to face him. "All ready for the mission?" He asked, leaning against doorway with his arms crossed on his chest.

"Well, I could use some help with the zipper." You said, pointing at your back, smiling. "Do you mind?"

Steve nodded and made his way to you. You turned around away from him and almost immediately felt his fingers make their way slowly up your back, pulling the zipper up while he did. Steve rested his hand on your shoulder and you lifted up your hand on top of his, looking at him over your shoulder with a smile.

"You're not going to try and stop me, right?" You asked and turned around, lifting your hands up to the back of his neck, your fingers winding up in his short blonde hair.

Steve shook his head, smiling slightly. "It wouldn't change anything anyway." He said and you agreed with a hum. "And there's no reason to stop you. You'll be fine."

You pulled him down by the neck to press your lips on his softly. You then let one of your hands travel down his arm to his hand which you took in yours before heading out of the room, not without grabbing a small clutch you had put on the bedside table.

You heard wolf whistles as you stepped in the common room. Everyone turned their heads towards you and you laughed.

"Y/N, you look gorgeous."

"Thank you." You smiled and twirled.

"There's a car waiting for you downstairs. It will take you straight to the bar." Tony told you and you nodded. "We'll have a visual on you at all times just in case something goes wrong."

"Understood," you nodded once again. You turned to look at Steve and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before saying goodbye to everyone.

"I'm in." You say as you step inside the bar, staying still for a while as you take a look at your surroundings.

"Great. The guy you're looking for is in the second booth from the window," Tony said as you turned to look in the direction. "Do you see him?"

"The guy in a dark green, silk button up?" You asked and got a affirmative hum, telling you it was him, "I have a visual." You said and walked over to the bar, ordering a drink. You sit down on the stool and turn around, taking another quick glance at your surroundings.

"Now wait for further instructions, have fun, have a drink—"

"I'm already ahead of you on that." You said as the bartender handed you your drink. You thanked him with a smile and looked at the guy who was your target through the mirror that was behind the bar. You heard Tony chuckle on the other side of the line and you took a sip of your drink.

At the same time, in the Avenger headquarters, the men of the team had gathered together to sit in front of the monitor that showed them the bar. They were all ready to gear up and come to your help if you needed it.

"I brought some popcorn." Clint said as he took a seat next to Thor, offering him the bowl. Thor didn't hesitate to take a handful of the salty treat and pass the bowl on for the rest. "So what's going on?"

"Y/N's keeping a low profile for now." Steve said as he brought his hand over his lips, looking at the monitor in concentration, frown upon his face.

"The guy is in the far back, the guy in the green shirt." Tony said as he pointed at the guy. "Seems to be having a conversation with someone."

The guys were just chatting before T'Challa raised his voice to get everyone's attention. "Who's that?" He asked while pointing at the screen, someone was walking over to you.

Tony tapped the keyboard and soon the camera was scanning his face to make sure if he was a threat or not, if he was working with the man that was your target.

"No recognition." Said FRIDAY.

"Not a threat, I assume." Said Tony and leaned back in his chair, relaxing a bit.

"What is he doing?" Steve wondered out loud while staring intently at the screen.

Everyone quieted down as they kept on eye on the man who sat down on a stool beside you. He minded his business for a while until he turned to you and said, "Hi."

You turned to see the man smiling at you. "Hi?"

"I don't want to bother you but you might be asked to leave soon." He said and you furrowed your brows. "You're making all the women in here look bad."

Clint dropped the popcorn he just took out from the bowl and the others were deadly silent.

"What?" Steve asked, as if he wasn't sure whether he heard correctly or not. "Did he just—"

"Oh, he's going down." Sam grumbled and stood up, making his way to Tony and pushed the button that turned on the microphone so you could hear him. "Punch him!" Sam said loudly.

You furrowed your brows at this and tried not to give away the confusion too much. You continued to listen as the man next to you introduced himself and asked you some harmless, everyday questions.

"Is she just going to let him hit on her?" Scott wondered out loud as he leaned over Thor to grab some popcorn from the bowl that Clint was still holding.

"Wow, Steve. Are you okay with this?" Bucky asked as he placed his hand on Steve's shoulder.

Steve had a frown on his face as he gazed up at the monitor. "She's just doing her job." He knew you were faithful to him but he also knew you were ready to do anything to complete a mission.

Bucky noticed the frown on Steve's face and knew he wasn't happy about what was going on but he also knew Steve trusted you so he let it slide. He then turned around to grab the bowl from Clint who had been hogging to himself for most of the time. Clint protested but Bucky ignored him.

"Y/N," Tony said and you immediately turned to face the bar again to get a good look of the guy you were in the bar for. "Look under the table."

You grabbed your clutch and dropped it on the floor. "Oops." You smiled at the man sitting beside you. You jumped off the seat and bent down to pick up the clutch, also staying down for a while to see that the man in the silk button up was pointing a gun at the person sitting opposite him.

While you were bent down, the man that was hitting on you didn't even try to hide the fact that he was checking out your behind. The guys in the headquarters were either looking at the screen in surprise, in disgust or in anger.

"T'Challa." Tony said in a low voice. "Get your claws out." He commanded while staring intently at the man still checking you out.

T'Challa chuckled but stayed still. Yet he was ready to get up to get his suit if needed.

You finally stood up and sat back down on the stool.

"You saw the gun, right?" Tony asked. "He hasn't made a move to actually use it but keep an eye on him. We wouldn't want anyone to get shot, would we?"

You shook your head and swallowed a sip of your drink, keeping your eyes on the target, turning to look at the man next to you every once in a while to maintain the conversation.

After a while Natasha and Wanda decided to check up on the guys since they hadn't seen any of them in a while. They were just chatting as they entered the room. "Hi," Natasha greeted but the men shushed her. She gave Wanda a questioning look before she made her way to Clint, sitting down on the armrest and grabbing some popcorn. "What's going on?"

"Y/N's on a mission." Steve said simply, never taking his eyes off the screen.

"And you're all here?"

Pietro shrugged, zooming to Nat and taking the bowl from her before going back to his seat. "We didn't have anything better to do." He said as he popped some popcorn in his mouth before passing the bowl to the others.

"We could go watch a movie?" Wanda suggested as she sat next to Vision, sending a smile in his direction.

"I could watch a movie." Vision answered.

"Well, you two lovebirds can go watch a movie. We're not going anywhere."

Wanda rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to the monitor. Everyone was looking at the screen in silence, listening to the conversation you were having. Sam stood up from his seat abruptly as he saw the man's hand land on yours. "Okay, I think she needs some back up."

"What?" Natasha asked with a laugh. "Just because some random loser is hitting on her? You've got to be kidding me."

"No, I am not kidding."

Tony shushed him and everyone quieted down again.

"So tell me more about yourself." The man said and you mentally rolled your eyes and hoped that he'd just leave you alone.

"What do you want to know?"

"Like... What are you afraid of? For example, the letter 'X' scares me."

You furrowed your brows and narrowed your eyes slightly. "Why?" You asked, genuinely interested to know the reason for his fear of a letter.

The man looked down in his lap and a smile grew on his face. You were really waiting for the answer and so were your teammates.

The man turned to look at you and sent you a cocky smile. "Because I never want to be yours."

The team let out groans and booed as they threw some popcorn at the screen.

You heard them booing from the comm and thought how you felt the same about the pickup line.

"I really think we should go help her."

"Guys! She can take care of herself. She doesn't need you hovering over her like a bunch of overprotective big brothers." Wanda snapped

"Thank you, Wanda." You said and everyone turned their attention towards the screen again to see you sitting alone. "See, this is what best friends do. Respect one another and believe in one another." Before anyone could ask you how much of their conversation you had heard, you decided to just tell them, "I've heard everything ever since Sam told me to punch the guy. You idiots left the microphone on."

"Where did the douche go?"

"To the bathroom." You said, gulped down the rest of your drink and called the bartender for another one.

"Are you sure having another drink is a good idea?" You heard Bruce ask and you turned to look at the security camera above the bar not so subtly. You sent a glare and took the drink anyway.

"It's necessary if you asshats keep annoying me." You said as you lifted the glass up to your lips. "Nat, they're being way too protective, aren't they?"

"A minute ago I would have said yes but after that pickup line he deserves to be punched."

You rolled your eyes as Natasha turned against you.

"Yeah, hit him!" Bucky yelled and soon everyone was chanting for you to hit him.

"Steve?" You relied on your last hope for some support. You figured he'd be against the hitting part at least.

Everyone quieted down and turned their attention to the Captain. He looked at his teammates before turning back to look at the screen. "Either you punch him or I'll come and do it myself." He said calmly and you found yourself almost choking on your drink.

Your teammates cheered and Bucky and Sam both high fived Steve. "Steve? That is so not like you."

"Yeah, usually I'd say you should only use necessary force but if someone is trying to hit on my best girl, they—" Steve was cut short and he fell silent.

"Did she just turn off the comm?" Clint asked quietly.

Your actions made Steve fume with anger. "This could sacrifice the whole mission! She's supposed to listen to our instructions. What if—"

Steve was shushed by the others and he looked at the screen to see you walking towards the man in the back. The man left the table and you took the chance to kick the gun off his hand and elbow him in the chest.

The man was taken by surprise and you took a hold of him, hurled your body so you could wrap your thighs around his head and pull him down. The man fell to the floor harshly and everyone could see he was getting a bit hazy from the impact. You stood up, grabbed your gun from the holster that you had under your dress, pointed it at him and placed your heeled foot on his chest.

Steve and the others looked at the screen in awe. You did well on your own, without their help. They were all proud of you and at that moment they realised they were being overprotective. They had almost forgotten about the guy you were in the bar for. The big brother instincts kicked in and everything else was almost forgotten.

You waited for back up to come cuff him up and take him away. You huffed as you placed your gun back in its holster. You turned to look at the security camera where your teammates had a visual on you. You glared at the camera before flicking your hair with your hand and walking towards the exit.

"Well..." Clint sighed, breaking the silence. "She did it."

"See, she can handle herself." Natasha said and stood up. "You were being overly cautious for nothing."

"Hey, you wanted her to punch him too!" Sam exclaimed as he started following Nat out of the room.

"Yeah, not because he was a threat but because that line was so bad."

The others had started chatting but Steve still stood there, staring at the screen. He knew you were capable of taking care of yourself. Steve was just so surprised how annoyed he had gotten while watching the man, who had absolutely no shot with you, hit on you.

He already knew you were going to scold him when you got home but he also knew he was going to scold you for disobeying orders and turning off the comm. What he also knew was that it wouldn't lead to a big fight. Everything was okay. The mission was successful and you were safe. Also, everyone learned something new.

The team learned that they didn't have to protect you from men. That didn't mean they'd stop, though. After all they saw you as their little sister. Of course they would always protect you.

You learned how protective the team actually was and although you were very annoyed, you appreciated their concern. Of course you had no plans to tell them that. You also learned that Steve might have gotten a bit jealous.

And so did Steve himself.

Thor noticed Steve to be deep in thought and being the warm, loving God of Thunder he is, he offered the bowl of popcorn only to have it being pushed away. Thor then moved the bowl right in front of Steve's face only to have it slapped off his hand. Steve glared at Thor and looked at everyone else in the room to see them looking at him in surprise. Only Bucky was smiling up at Steve with a grin that could have been mistaken for the Cheshire Cat's. "What?" Steve snapped as he looked down at his friend.

"You were jealous." Bucky says, the grin never leaving his lips.

"Oh, buzz off." Steve muttered under his breath and stormed out of the room, hearing Bucky snickering behind him. "Shut up!" He whined.

Steve made his way to his room only to be bumped into you as he walked in the lounge. "Y/N?" He asked in surprise. "W-what are you doing here?"

"The car was waiting for me at the bar." You explained. "It only took few minutes to get back." You let out a light laugh. "Why do you seem so surprised?"

"You just took care of that guy at the bar."

"Yes, I did." You said and crossed your arms. "Is there something you want to say to me?" You asked with a lift of a brow, referring to what happened earlier.

Steve looked down at the ground in guilt and scratch the back of his neck. "I'm sorry." He muttered almost inaudibly.

"What was that?" You asked with a smile. "I didn't quite catch that." You bit your lip, stifling a laugh.

"I said, I'm sorry." Steve said louder. He was almost pouting as he looked up at you, hoping you'd forgive him.

You wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him in for a hug. "It's okay, Stevie." You said and kissed his cheek. You placed your hands on the back of his neck and his hands found their way to your waist. "I just don't understand why you reacted that way."

"What do you mean?" Steve asked. "A guy tries to make a move on my girlfriend and you wonder why I reacted the way I did?"

"You have nothing to worry about." You said as you moved your hands to his chest. "I'm all yours..." You whispered and placed a few kisses on his jaw before moving your lips to his, kissing him slowly but passionately. This made Steve hum in approval.

You pulled away only slightly, your faces still very close. You sighed and opened your eyes to see his blue ones already looking at you. "Right after I've yelled at the others." You said, earning a laugh from him which made you smile. You patted his chest and pushed yourself off him. "Now tell me, should I act angry or sad?"

Steve sighed and shook his head, "That's a tough one." He said and pondered over it for a minute. "You know, if you slip a few tears, they'd probably freak out a little."

"Sad it is, then." You smiled, giving him a quick kiss. "But after that, I'm all yours. You sent him a wink before walking off.

Steve shook his head as he laughed silently, watching you walk away. He decided to follow after you and smiled as he heard you yelling at the others and even making your voice crack on purpose.

"Y/N, I'm sorry, we didn't—"

"No, no. I can't handle this right now." You said weakly as you rushed out of the room. You looked at Steve, who was waiting for you just next to the doorway and smiled brightly. You took his hand and pulled him towards your bedroom.

"Are you really going to let them drown in guilt?" He asked and you shook your head.

"For the night, yes. This will teach them a lesson."

"What about me?"

You shrugged, opening the door to your bedroom. "You had your reasons." You said and pushed him inside the room. "Or do you want me to teach you a lesson as well?"

Steve gulped, "No, ma'am."

"Then why are you still wearing clothes?" You asked while slamming the door closed.

Steve coughed awkwardly as his cheeks turned red. "Way to be discreet." He muttered under his breath.

"Oh, shut up."
