Found Part Two

Now Steve was the one who was silent. He hadn't spoken since he said she was a friend. He held her close, and his eyes never looked in any direction but the sleeping lady.

Bruce quietly walked over coughing to get Steve's attention. "Can you take her with me to the medical area? I need to see if she has any injuries that need tending to."

Steve nodded getting up and carrying her to the medical table. He didn't want to leave her side, but he felt he needed to give Bruce some space. Steve quietly walked back to his seat and stared at his hands once he sat down. He only looked up when he felt someone touching his arm.

"Look. I don't know how you're feeling, but if you want to talk, I'll be right here." Natasha offered trying to comfort her friend.

He looked back down shaking his head. Then he looked in the direction of the small medical area. His mind wondered if he should tell anything or not. He decided he didn't feel like telling. He assumed that Natasha or someone would find out for themselves if they really wanted to know. All he wanted was to have y/n in his arms again.

"Steve, she doesn't have any injuries. It's almost as if she self heals. When we get back, I'll have to see what all she's capable of. I'll also need to see what she remembers." Bruce spoke, and Steve looked up again. "She's still asleep, and I think she should stay in the medical area until we get back."

"Can I stay with her?" Steve got up with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

"Sure. If anything happens, I'll be checking on everyone." Bruce left as Steve pulled up a chair.

He held one of y/n's hands and smiled fondly at her. He hummed softly and momentarily closed his eyes.

"Steve, were back." Natasha gently nudged him.

He nodded and carried y/n bridal style to the medical wing of the compound. He stayed out of the medical area, but he waited nearby incase y/n woke up. Steve was so drained, but he tried to stay awake for y/n.

Her head rested on the little blonde boy's shoulder. She watched as he drew on the edges of her book.

"Why do you want me to draw on the sides of your book?"

"Cause I love your drawings Stevie. Besides, I can look at them and think of you, especially when you aren't around."

Steve stopped drawing and looked to her. His face was tinted red as he smiled. Then a question popped in his head. "Y/n... Do you think we'll get married one day?"

"Stevie... Were only six years old. We don't need to think of that stuff." She giggled taking her book standing up. "I'll see you tomorrow Stevie."

Steve opened his eyes realizing he fell asleep. He got up and walked to the room she was in. He remembered hearing Bruce at one point saying it was okay to visit her. He assumed that her appearance now would be how she would look. It didn't bother him, but the way she got her looks and powers did.

He shut the door and walked closer to her. He pulled up a chair beside her bed. "I've missed you y/n.... You're still my radiant Sunshine. Always were. Still are."

He took her hand and kissed the top. Then she sat up. Steve still held her hand, but he realized that might have not been the best idea. Y/n's eyes widened, and her hands started to glow.

She turned to face him noticing Steve holding her hand. Then she looked back at him.

"Y/n... It's me... It's your Steve." He whispered wondering if saying anything would help.

"Stevie. I'll be right back. I'm gonna go get you some more water and crackers." Y/n softly spoke.

"I can get.."

"No Steve. Your mama told me to keep you in bed. She doesn't want you to get anymore sick, and I promised to take care of you while she was at work." Y/n sternly spoke.

She came back bringing the water and crackers. Then she sat beside him and held his hand.

"Look Stevie, I know you can take care of yourself, but I promised your mom. Your mama is like a second mom to me. Besides, I don't know what I'd do if you were to get hurt in my care." She frowned.

Steve reached out and grabbed her hand. "I know. It's all okay. Y/n you're my best friend ... You're my Sunshine."

The little girl blushed looking at the hand intertwined with the little boy's.

"You sure you don't wanna get married to me one day."

She looked up to him then pulled away her hand. She got up to go close his curtains when she noticed a vehicle with boxes.

"I think we have new neighbors."

Steve opened his eyes and realized he was in bed. He looked to see Nat and Clint sitting beside him.

"You okay Captain?" Nat asked.

"I... I think so." Steve slowly sat up wondering who took him to his room.

"The lady.... She somehow made you pass out. It's a good thing Bruce was fixing to check on her, otherwise you might still be in there with her." Clint worriedly replied.

Steve clenched and unclenched his hands trying to control his breathing. "Y/n is not bad. What was she doing, and is she okay?"

"Bruce still doesn't understand the full extent of her powers, but it seems a lot of them are mind based. I think that's how she got you to pass out. Clint carried you back to your room."

"She was panicking when I left, and things were floating all across the room. After we got you to your room, we went back to see she had also passed out." Clint finished Nat's statement.

"Is she okay?"

"We think so."

Steve had already gotten up and began to walk to her room. Clint and Natasha tried catch up with him, but they let him go.

Steve walked back with urgency, and when he walked in, her eyes had open. Her eyes were their actual color, and her hair was also her actual color.

He was about to say something when his eyes went hazy.

"That Bucky is something isn't he? I can't believe he's leaving for summer vacation." Y/n blushed as she finished her book.

"He's our friend. But..." Steve looked down trying to control his breathing.

"But what Stevie?" She turned to him concerned.

"Ever since he's come, he's all you can talk about. Bucky this, Bucky that. I miss when it was just us." Steve frustratedly remarked.

"How could you say that Steven? James is amazing. He's helped you so much, and he's helped me through a lot." She fired back walking closer to him.

"Well it's been years. We're almost out of high school and I feel like a stranger. What happened? Was it me? What did he help you with that I couldn't have?"

"It was mostly things about you Steve. I know you are capable, and yet I get so worried about you sometimes. It's something I've always had to work on. Not only that, but I've been having a lot of anxiety, and I've been very very sad. Neither of you have seen much of me lately, but I'm so sorry if spending more time with Bucky has upset you." She yelled as tears escaped her eyes.

Steve felt horrible. He slowly approached her wrapping his arms around her. She leaned her head on his shoulder, and her crying began to dwindle.

"I'm so sorry Sunshine. I really am. Will you forgive me?"

"Of course Stevie. I forgive you." She whispered not letting go of him.

"Will you marry me then?" He whispered in return.

She laughed never letting him go. "You'll always ask me that. Thanks for making me feel better."

Steve sighed rubbing her back wishing that one day she'd answer with a yes.

"Steve..."

"Yeah..."

"I... Nevermind."

His vision returned, and she was staring at the ceiling. She didn't look back at him when he sat beside her.

"Y/n... Do you remember me?"

She didn't respond, but she looked back to Steve. A few tears pooled from her eyes.

"No. I don't remember you, but I know you were important."

At this point, Steve knew he was going to try and do anything he could to get his Sunshine's memory back. He wasn't planning on losing her this time around.
