Chapter 3
It didn't take long before everyone knew Steve was the one who kept stuff for the girls. It was no secret that both Wanda and Natasha went to Steve when they were on their period, but Steve didn't mind. As his chocolate supply ran low every month, he had a better excuse to try different types of chocolate and see which ones Wanda favoured and which Natasha favoured. Fortunately, it was rarely the same.
The biggest downside they had found with the team knowing, however, was that everyone wanted in on Steve's chocolate supply. After Natasha had done a little tampering with FRIDAY to prevent even Tony from slipping past, they had no reason to worry about their beloved chocolate. Having such a great guard did have its disadvantages though.
"Steve's on a mission," Wanda said, walking into Natasha's room one day, but she knew Natasha already knew this. "FRIDAY has his door locked and no one is allowed to get in."
"Do you need tampons?" Natasha asked, setting aside her tablet.
Wanda nodded. It had been months since she'd had her period when Steve wasn't around and now, she didn't have anything to take care of it. Up until right now, it hadn't been a problem.
"I don't know who you could ask," Natasha murmured, "I only have enough for the rest of mine. Maybe one of the others could go get some for you."
Even as she said it, Natasha knew that Clint was the only one that would and he was at home. Rhodey might, but she wasn't sure how comfortable Wanda felt asking him.
"Okay," Wanda said, "I'll go ask."
Before Natasha could suggest asking Rhodey, Wanda walked out of her room.
As she turned into the living room, Wanda spotted Bucky on the couch reading a newspaper. She paused. Bucky was Steve's best friend. He would run to the store for her, right? The two were practically the same person in some ways of living. Maybe this was one of them.
"Did you need something, Wanda?" Bucky asked, setting down his newspaper.
"Would you mind running to the store to pick up some tampons?" she asked.
Bucky immediately paled and Wanda knew she'd messed up.
"Um, well, I don't really, um—" Bucky scratched the back of his neck and Wanda tried to take it back.
"You don't have to if you're comfortable with it," she said, trying to keep him from feeling even worse.
Bucky shook his head, though, and stood up.
"No," he said, nodding resolutely to himself. "I'll do it. Just tampons?"
"And chocolate, if that's okay?"
Bucky nodded and raced for the door before Wanda could say anything else.
Well, clearly Bucky was not the person to ask. Perhaps she should have asked Natasha for advice before wandering out on her own. Or maybe next time she would just ask Rhodey. Surely that wouldn't be as awkward as asking Bucky.
