Isla stood in front of the couch where Sans was sleeping. She poked his cheek. Once. Twice. Three times. He finally awoke with a snort. "What? Huh?" he hummed comfusedly until he spotted Isla. "Oh. Hey kiddo." Sans said with an amused smile. "I'm hungry, Sans." Isla told him. "Well, straight to the point I see..." Sans notes out loud as he sighed and stood up.
He was still wearing the same clothes from yesterday. Isla frowned. "Get dressed first!" Isla declared, sticking a finger up into the air. "I'm already dressed ki-" He was paused in speaking as Isla grabbed his hand and tried to pull him upstairs. Sans didn't move an inch, since he was too heavy for her to pull. He chuckled, amused at her struggle as she groaned with effort, only for her bare feet to slide on the carpet since she herself wasn't moving either. Then she fell forward when his hand popped off. She sat up and shook her head as if to clear it and then saw his hand in her grip. Only his hand. She gasped and looked at Sans now handless arm. She sniffled and started crying. Sans's eyes widened and he kneeled next to the girl. "Hey, hey, it's ok..." Sans said, and patted her back. He took his hand and popped it back into it's socket. "See? All better!" Sans smiled. Isla paused in her tears and sniffled. "I gave you an owie though..." she sniffed. Sans sighed and took off his whole arm. "Look, see? I'm fine." Sans said, and then popped it back in. Then he took off his whole head. "I'm still fine."
Isla giggled as Sans crossed his eyes and did a silly face. Then she took his skull into her hands. He was surprised at how gentle she was. "Hi Sans." she said with a smile. The she gently kissed his cheek-bone and then stood up and set his head back on top of his spine. It was a little crooked but Sans easily adjusted it. Sans was smiling as usual, but it was more gentle.
"Now dressed!" Isla cheered. His smile dropped. "I thought you forgot about that."
---~---
Not only has Isla forced him to dress the both of them, but also for him to actually wash his jacket. Papyrus had come down and made them spaghetti for breakfast. Surprisingly he made it edible. And Isla was ok with it.
Sans figured she wasn't picky. The only thing was that she refused to eat the carrots placed in front of her. She squealed 'eww' and hid behind Sans's chair.
Ok, so she didn't like carrots. Sans wrote a mental note and put it on a mental fridge.
"SANS! CAN I TAKE THE HUMAN TO DO PUZZLES?" Papyrus asked. Sans nodded. He trusted his brother enough to do that. He trusted his brother with his life, however fragile it was.
Papyrus squealed happily and picked up Isla.
However, would he trust Papyrus with Isla's life?
---~---
Sans followed behind Papyrus (after getting his jacket and giving it to Isla). Since they did Puzzles near the sentry stations, it would be easy to keep watch over the both of them. The reason it was near the sentry stations was because Papyrus had many materials for puzzles. Mainly for puzzles like a giant tic-tac-toe and stuff. He kept it pretty simple for the five-year-old. "SMALL HUMAN! YOU ARE VERY GOOD AT PUZZLES!" Papyrus said to the girl. She giggled. "You too Papy!"
Papyrus gasped, his eyes watering and sparkling with happiness. Sans chuckled. He always found his brother's very expressive expressions amusing.
Paps is so cool. Sans thought to himself.
Isla smiled widely at Papyrus as she was practically tackled in a hug. She giggled and hugged the tall skeleton back.
Sans could only find himself smiling at the two.
---~---
Papyrus was showing Isla all his action figures while Sans was at Grillby's. He specifically told Papyrus to play with her.
Isla was looking at a small human figure. The others were all monsters.
The figure was a male, and it was a little beat up from use. "Daddy?" Isla asked, pointing at the action figure. "NO, THAT'S NOT YOUR FATHER. AT LEAST I DON'T THINK IT IS..." Isla frowned. "Daddy is mean." she said. Papyrus was confused but continued to show her his other figurines. "I GOT THIS ONE FROM SANS, AND THIS ONE FROM SANTA." Papyrus said. Isla smiled widely at the mention of Santa. "Santa!" she cheered. "YOU HAVE SANTA ON THE SURFACE, TOO?" Papyrus asked, getting Excited. Isla nodded eagerly. "Santa comes every Christmas at mommy's house, but not at daddy's." Isla said, ending with a pout. "I think it's because Daddy is naughty for lying. He says Santa isn't real."
Papyrus gasped. "HOW DARE HE SAY THAT?! I SEE SANTA ALMOST EVERY YEAR!" "Really?" Isla's eyes see sparkling. "YES! I ALWAYS TELL HIM TO HAVE HAPPY HOLIDAYS." he said. "Woah... I want to do that..." Isla murmured.
"YOU CAN DO IT ON CHRISTMAS! IT IS REALLY SOON..." Papyrus suggested. The small girl lit up the room with a smile. She stood up, throwing her fists into the air and cheering loudly.
Sans stood outside the door to the room listening to the two interacting with a calm smile.
Looks like he would have to bring them to meet Asgore again this year. He could also dress up himself to put the presents under the tree..
Guess you could call me Sans-ta. The skeleton thought to himself. He chuckled a little under his breath before knocking on the door and opening it, Silencing their conversation. "I'm home. Papyrus, it's almost time to go to your station." Sans said. Papyrus's face lit up at the thought of working.
It was obvious he adored his job, knowing that someday he might get promoted to the royal guard. "Isla is going with you. I have to man Waterfall." Sans sighed. Papyrus gasped and smiled. "HERE THAT ISLA? LOOKS LIKE YOUR SPENDING THE WHOLE DAY WITH THE GREAT PAPYRUS! NYEHEHEH!"
Isla giggled as Sans started taking off his coat. She let out a small 'oof' as he dropped it on her head. She peeked out from under his warm jacket. "Stay warm Kiddo. I'm out of here." Then Sans walked out of the house and towards Waterfall. Papyrus grabbed Isla and put her on her shoulders. "COME ISLA! TO MY SENTRY STATION!" he cheered. "To Papy's station!"
Then Papyrus started running towards his home-made station. "Weeeee!" Isla cheered, throwing her arms in the air as She rode on Papyrus's shoulders. The townspeople chuckled as they ran through town, and the loitering monsters simply glanced from afar in the snowy forest.
They made it to the cardboard hut and Papyrus set Isla down. "ALRIGHT SMALL HUMAN! IF YOU ARE TO TAKE WATCH WITH ME, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN SENTRY STATION!" Papyrus said animatedly. He used many handmotions while speaking.
"WORRY NOT, TINY HUMAN! I HAVE SUPPLIES BEHIND MY OWN STATION!" Papyrus then dropped a huge box of random things beside his own.
Isla hopped up to grab the edge of the box and scrambled up so she was able to book her arm around the top.
Inside was cardboard, markers, and some wood. Isla grabbed a bunch of cardboard and three it into the snow beside Papyrus's station.
"Papy! Wood!" she cried, pointing at the wooden squares she couldn't quite reach, plus it was too heavy for her to lift anyways.
Papyrus grabbed the wood saying something about Isla not having to worry since the Great Papyrus is helping her.
---~---
Isla stood proudly in her cardboard sentry station with a wooden roof. On the front said 'Isla's Station' in childish handwriting with heart's and smiley faces on it. She also drew an outline of her hand on the side of it. Then Papyrus also outlined his hand. Which was very boney and it looked wierd but oh Well.
"OH! OUR SHIFT IS DONE ALREADY... HOW SURPRISING!" "Mommy always said time flies when you're having fun." Isla chirped. "I don't get it." She ended bluntly. "HMMM... I THINK BY 'FLYING' SHE MAY HAVE MEANT GOING REALLY FAST." Papyrus said. "Like how when I go really fast they say I flew?" "... I SUPPOSE SO HUMAN!"
The pair started walking back to the Skeleton brother's house. Isla was wrapped snugly in Sans's coat. "HMM... YOU REALLY LIKE THAT COAT DON'T YOU?" Papyrus mused. Isla nodded. "Sans's coat is warm and soft. It has fur on the inside!!" she said exitedly, unzippering it just enough to show Papyrus.
"And it smells Like him." Isla said. "WHAT EXACTLY DOES HE SMELL LIKE?" Papyrus asked. The girl wrinkled her nose in thought. In the small moment of silence only the crunching snow was heard as they walked. "He smells like Ketchup and... Like boys." Isla said.
Of course, she meant ketchup and Cologne. As a small child, she still had yet to learn about Deodorant and Cologne. "You smell like boy too. Especially in the mornings. But Sans doesn't smell as much as boy like you." she said.
Sans was too lazy to put it on everyday, is why. But Isla didn't know that.
"OH. LOOKS LIKE WE ARE HERE!" Papyrus said. Isla walked through the door, which was kindly held by Papyrus. Sans was inside on the couch, sleeping. "Aww! Sans is sleeping." Isla whispered. Then she shushed Papyrus as he was about to wake up Sans. Papyrus looked at Sans, debating on whether to wake him or not. Isla clambered into the couch as well, taking off the coat and laying it on Sans like a blanket. Then she hugged his arm and closed her eyes as well.
Papyrus couldn't bring himself to disturb Isla's bonding time sith Sans. So he sat with them and turned on the TV to a show.
He ended up falling asleep while leaning on Isla as well.
