[ORIGINAL CHAPTER]

I have been a firefighter since I was 18 when I joined the fire academy just like my father who had been a battalion Cheif for 25 years and my older brother a Captain it became our family tradition of sorts. I have been a battalion Cheif for years I loved my job but I always felt as if something was missing. I had always been smart when I was younger my mother had me tested and found that I had a 188 IQ. I hated high school because I found it easy and my mother wanted to take me out of high school and send me to college however my father had other ideas, it was his dream that both of his sons join the fire department which irritated me so I spent a lot of my time reading books and I found myself interested in books about profiling.

It made me realise I had a lot of similar traits of one which often annoyed my family. I had been profiling them since I could talk which often annoyed my family and often got me in trouble at school. By the end of high school I had offers from the most prestigious colleges in America however to please my father I turned them all down. As I was sat in my office I heard the alarm ring which meant it was time to go to work, so I got up from my desk grabbing my coat and helmet putting them on as I walked "all right guys let's go" I said as I arrived as everyone jumped into there trucks and I jumped into my car before heading to the scene in the distance however we could see the scene a apartment block in flames as all the trucks began to park I parked up before getting out.

"What happened" i said as I walked up to a man in a suit which I assumed he was the manager from the way he was dressed because he stood out in the crowd of people running out of the building, he stood out as the manager as well due to the look of guilt on his face "I don't know" the man said in shock "do you know which floor the fire started on" I asked hoping to get some information. "The 12th floor" the man said before I turned around to my guys "right Wilson and Jackson start on the bottom floors get everyone out" i said before looking to the next fire fighters "myself and Marshall will head to floor 11, where the fire started, everyone else make your way up the apartment building" i said as everyone nodded.

Before myself and Marshall began to suit up, even though I was a battalion Chief I was still a fire fighter which meant I went into the fire the same as everyone else. As we ran up the stairs residents of the building came running down with looks of fear on there faces as we headed up we noticed that it began to get hotter as we reached the 11th floor I was about to open the door before I noticed something under the door "get down" I said before shoving Marshall out of the way. Before the door came flying towards us as well as the fire as I got up I noticed Marshall was unconscious "man down man down" I shouted over the radio I waited by his side until 2 fire fighters arrived "get him out of here I'm gonna continue" I said before the both of them nodded before picking up Marshall and taking him down the stairs.

Before I began to walk through the corridor I was boiling hot the hottest I had ever felt "fire department call out" I said as i knocked on each door "fire department call out" I shouted once more but as I began to walk to the next door I heard a mumble which caused me to stop "hello" I shouted at the door "help" I heard a woman shouted behind the door. "Get back" I shouted before getting out my haligan and forcing the hinges off the door and kicking it in as I arrived the room was engulfed in flames and covered in smoke I made my way around until I saw a woman laid on the floor "hey I'm here I've got you" I said before taking off my mask and placing it over her face.

Before lifting her up into my arms and heading out of the room before making my way down the stairs which I found hard because the building was hot and I was wearing all my gear as well as carrying the victim down the stairs eventually I made it outside as I made it outside I car speed over and stopped "Baby girl" I heard a man shout before I walked over to the paramedics and placed her down "are you the fire Chief on scene"  a man in a suit said to me "yes I am" I replied. "I'm SSA Aaron Hotchner I work for the FBI's BAU the woman you just saved is out analyst" Aaron said as he placed out his hand "Thankyou" Aaron said before I shook his hand "I was just doing my job sir" I said before smiling at him as I watched the ambulance drive away. After we put out the fire I decided to head to the hospital to check on the woman I had saved.

As I walked in, I walked over for reception desk "hi I'm Alec I was just wondering how the FBI agent that was brought in here earlier is doing?" I asked before she began to type "she's just come out of surgery" the nurse said as I smiled "thanks" I said before walking away as I was just about to walk outside I was stopped "she'd like to thank you" I heard the male voice from earlier say before I turned around to see Agent Hotchner  before I smiled and followed him until we reached a room I stood outside and looked in before walking in "hey" I said as I walked in as she looked at me.

"How are you feeling" I asked as I looked at her "better and that's thanks to you" she said as she smiled at me "I'm Alec" i said as i smiled back at her before walking over to her bed "Penelope" I said before I shook her hand "unfortunately I brought you here in a selfless reason" Aaron said which made me turn to face him "I heard that you worked for the office of fire and investigations" Aaron said "yeah for a couple of months while I recovered from a injury" I said "well your boss told me that your the best to walk through those doors and we need your help" Aaron said which confused me "why do you need my help?" I asked "there's a serial killer trapping people in there apartments or houses before setting them on fire and I think that you could help us find our unsub" Aaron said as Penelope smiled at me which made me blurt out "yeah sure".
