Murthy Mansion

" Nandini! Nandini! Nan..."

" What happened Kunal? Why are you shouting like this? Is everything okay?", Nandini said coming to the living room followed by others.

" Nothing is okay Murthy. Vivek Murthy is missing. ", Kunal said panting for breath. " Police have searched for him everywhere. But there's no trace of him. Its as if he just vanished in thin air. ", he added making everyone tensed. Nandini was thinking hard.

" But where can he go like this?", Yug asked perplexed by the happenings.

" I don't get it. He was in his office. Then how did he vanish when the police reached there?", asked Abhi, sitting beside Vishal.

" Maybe he escaped from the back gate.", Manik said and everyone nodded at this possibility.

" But where can he go? He is not at his office. He is not at home. He is not at any of his flats or even in his farmhouse? Then where can he be?", Viren asked while all just shook their heads not knowing what to answer.

" Niharika Aunty. Do you know from where his illegal bussinesses are operated?", Nandini asked and Niharika started thinking hard if she had heard of it somewhere. But finally not getting anything from her memories, she shook her head in no making all sigh in frustration. Nandini was thinking hard to get some clue, but she just couldn't.

"Have you got what I asked you to?", a man in his late 50s asked, sitting on the boss's chair. Another man in his early 30s was sitting on the sofa nearby with a lady of his age. There stood 3 people black masks covering their faces. The first man removed his mask and greeted the three people sitting.

" I got some of my men infiltrate Vivek Murthy's bussiness. We tried to get information about Vikram Khanna. But its really difficult to get to him. He remains underground all the time. And with all the chaos of Vivek Murthy going bankrupt, it has become more difficult.", he said making the rest three persons release frustrated sighs.

"We have to get to him at any cost Papa. We need to catch Vivek Murthy with all proofs. Otherwise this time too, Nanhi will fail.", said the lady and the old man nodded.

" I know Khushi. We have to find some other way now. Vikram Khanna is out of reach.", said Khushi Kumari Gupta Chatterjee's father, the owner of Gupta Private Investigators, Mr. Rajesh Gupta.

" Did you get something else Max?", Arnav asked to the detective head who nodded.

" We have got some information. The main leader of the underground illegal bussiness is neither Vikram, nor Vivek.",he said shocking all the three.

" What! But how can this be possible. Last time when Nanhi got the information, it was all under Vivek Murthy. ", Arnav asked completely perplexed.

" Sir. Vivek Murthy is just a name. He is just a pawn. The real person is hidden from the whole world. Also, whatever information Nandini Ma'am got earlier is just half of what is actually there. "The Chatterjee's and Rajesh were shocked. If Vivek Murthy was just a pawn, then who was the real culprit behind all this?

" Sir. There's one more thing.", Max started and Rajesh urged him to continue. " Although Vivek Murthy works under the main person, he is unaware of many things. When we tried to dig in deeper, we got to know that the Drugs, Opium-rich fake medicines and Adultered food items and materials for construction are the things that Vivek knows about. But there's more to it.
There's more illegal and dangerous bussiness going on behind Vivek Murthy's back about which he is completely unaware.", Max said leaving the three trying to grasp all the information.

" What are those Max?", Arnav asked and Max continued, " Human trafficking, Child trafficking, Sex rackets and Illegal Weapons smuggling. Its a complete mafia bussiness going on behind Vivek's back. But everything is under his name. The person is very clever. He has made Vivek forward. If ever anything happens, Vivek will be the one caught and he will escape easily. "

The three were beyond shocked to know how dangerous it actually is. They started pondering over all this information.

" Who is it Max?", Arnav finally asked.

" Its quiet shocking Sir. But it is......"

" Ya ya. Get the ot ready. I'll be there soon. ", Nandini spoke on phone while rushing downstairs with her apron and bag.

" Where are you going Shia?", Yug asked immediately after she hung up.

" There's an emergency Bhai. I have to leave now. ", Nandini said hurrying towards the door with her car keys 

" No no no. You aren't going anywhere. I won't allow you. Vivek Murthy is on loose and no one knows where he is or what he is doing. I can't take any risks with your life. ", Manik said immediately blocking her path.

" But Manik. I have to go. My patient is in a very critical condition. I can't risk his life na. He needs me now. ", Nandu said trying to make him understand who looked at Navya for help. 

" But Nannu. You're on leave na. So why did they bother you? Its Dr.Sarkar or Dr. Avasthy who has got to handle any case in your absence. ", Navya asked trying to stop her.

" Dr. Sarkar is busy in a Tumour operation now. And Dr. Avasthy is inexperienced for such difficult situation. We can't take risk with patients life at any cost. Don't you remember your Hippocratic now Navu?", Nandu said sternly and Navya made a bad face at the last part.

" God! I'm bound with this oath again. I'm sorry Manik. I can't help you now. Huh! Iss Hippocrates ki toh main! Saale ne laga di Doctoron ki!", she said in a full annoyed tone making everyone chuckle.

" But you won't go alone. I'll come with you.", Manik said with finality in his voice, leaving no chance for argument, and Nandini nodded.

" We'll also come. ", Cabir and Abhi said in unison and all the four headed out of the mansion with their bodyguards following them.

" Das! Increase security around Murthy Mansion and especially Nandini. We need to protect everyone there. And....", Arnav barked orders at his security head.

" What happened beta? Why are getting so restless?" his Dadu asked in all concern. He turned to see his family standing there with worried faces.

" Nanhi's life is in danger Dadu."

And this slipped the floor beneath Parosh Chatterjee's feet.

" Neha. Which OT?", Nandini asked the nurse while wearing her robes.

" OT 4 Ma'am.", she said nervously and Nandini nodded. Being already busy and concerned about the patient, she didn't pay any attention to Neha's nervous fidgetting, thinking that it might be because it was going to be her first experience.

Getting ready in her operation robes, Nandini walked out of her cabin only to find the three men pacing there. They saw her and nodded before following her. Reaching the operation theatre, they saw another wardboy there. But surprisingly, there was no attendant.

" Is there no one with the patient?", Nandini questioned suspiciously.

" Ma'am w...wo ac..actually...", Neha stammered. But the wardboy Nitin was fast enough to cover up. " Ma'am its an accident case. The police are trying to search for his identity.", he said immediately and Nandini nodded, satisfied with the answer. She gestured ManBir and Abhi to sit outside and herself entered the OT with Neha and Nitin.

A black mercedes stopped outside Murthy Mansion and an old couple got down followed by a middle-aged one and then came a younger couple. The watchman was surprised to see the impossible happening. Neverthless, he opened the gate for the six people and they got in.

" Navya beta. Unlogon ka koi call aya kya? Kitna wakt lagega?", Neyonika asked impatiently.

" Cabir ka call aya tha Mom. Wo log abhi OT ke bahar hi baithe hain. Operation chal rahi hai. They can't tell anything now. Nannu hasn't stepped out yet. ", Navya informed her and Jeevika sat beside her holding her hand.

" Don't wory NeyoMaa. Kuch nahin hoga unhe. ", she said assuringly and Neyo nadded. All the ladies were sitting in the garden chatting while the men sat in the livingroom.

" Achha Jeevi wo......", Anjali couldn't complete her sentence as her eyes widened in shock. She stood up from her place making everyone else startled. All the ladies were connfused seeing her and followed her gaze, only to stand rooted at their places, except Neyo and MukLya who were still confused at the ladies' reaction.

" Nanu!", Navya wishpered in trance making all their doubts cleared.

Parosh Chatterjee was walking towards their main door with his family. A sight they had always longed to see but always thought that it was impossible.

Parosh Chatterjee walked towards the door of Murthy Mansion. He was about to step in, but suddenly stopped in his tracks.

" You all are responsible for my daughter's death. I trusted you Vinay. But you couldn't save my daughter and my Nanhi."

" I'll never step into this house again. "

" Its not their fault Nanu. "

" Okay. So listen to me. I'm not going to leave this family of mine. And I promise never to step into Chatterjee Badi, until you come to Murthy Mansion and forgive my Dadu and Pa. "

He closed his eyes remembering those dreadful memories. His steps faltered. He wanted to leave from there. But suddenly another voice was heard deep inside his heart.

" Will you promise me one thing Baba?"
" Tell me Bacha. I'll do anything for you. "
" If anything ever happens to me, promise me that you'll protect my daughter at any cost. "
" I promise. I'll never let any harm come to Nanhi. I'll protect her always. "

His promise to his daughter which he made just three days before her death was still fresh in his memory. He has never forgotten it.

And he kept his promise. Although he never came here to meet her, but he always ensured he was safe. He always had a watch on her every action. And today also he is here to protect his Nanhi.

" Nanhi's life is in danger Dadu."

Arnav's words again rang in his ears and he stepped inside the place, he had once promised never to set a foot on.

As he entered inside the living room, even the servants were surprised to see him as they very well knew that the Chatterjees never set foot in Murthy Mansion.

The men stood up in shock. Vinay was stilled at his place while Viren on seeing him just hung his head low. He had always felt the guilt in him of not being able to save the mother- daughter. He had always blamed himself for Sunaina's condition. Only if he had not helped Vivek in running off with Sunaina that day.......

Sujoy(Navya's father) was the first one to come out of the shock. He came forward to greet them followed by Sarthak(Abhi's father). " Baba! Tumi ēkhānē? ( You here?)", Sujoy asked but Parosh showed his hand to him to stop. The ladies had entered inside the livingroom by now.

" Baba! Tumi...Ēkhānē bāsunā.( Come sit here.)", Avantika asked her father, but he cut her off.

" Nanhi Kothāýā Avū?", he asked in a stern voice and Avantika shivered a bit.

" I asked where is Nandini!", he again asked this time in a much louder voice and Avantika tried to answer but stammered boiling up Parosh's anger. Before he could shout more, Pradeep( his son) came forward and kept a hand on his sister's shoulder. " Where is Nanhi, Avu?", he asked softly and Avantika composed a bit.

" She has gone to hospital. She got a call for some emergency.", Raj answered seeing the Murthys and Boses not in a state to react.

But this statement just paled the faces of the Chatterjees. Shit! Are they late?

" Whose call was it Cabir?", Abhi asked when Cabir came to them after cutting it.

" It was Navya. She was asking whats the status here. I told her that Bira is in there and we are sitting outside so no worries. ", he said and the other two nodded.

They were sitting there talking among themselves when the door opened and the nurse and wardboy came out pushing a stretcher. The body was covered fully with white cloth. It was evident that the person had died in the surgery.

" What happened?", Manik asked immediately standing up.

" The patient's condition was very critical. Dr. Nandini tried her best but she couldn't save him. The family members have not arrived yet, so we are shifting the body to the morgue.", Nitin said and the three boys had pity looks. They nodded their heads. " Where is Nandini then?", suddenly Abhi asked. If the body was being taken to the morgue, then surely there is no work for her.

" She is in there completing some procedures. The body has to be sent for postmortem so.... You wait here. She will be out soon. ", Nitin said and he and Neha rushed from there pushing the stretcher along. Not knowing anything about medical procedures, the boys sighed and again sat down waiting for her to come out.

" What the hell! How could you even allow her go out now?", Parosh growled and the others sensed something was wrong.

" She insisted on going. She said she can't take any risks with her patient's health. We.....But why are you all so worried? Is there something wrong?",Raj asked with worry lacing his voice while the Chatterjees were standing there with hell worried faces.

" Uncle. Nanhi's life is in danger. We can't leave her alone at any cost now. ", Arnav said and everyone became numb.

" But...but she isn't alone there. I mean, Manik, Cabir and Abhi have gone with her. ", Alya said and they released a sigh of relief.

" Yug. Call them and ask where is Nanhi. Ask them to check on her immediately. We can't take any risks.", Arnav said and Yug nodded. He immediately picked up his phone and dialed Manik's number and put it on speaker.

" Don't you think something's fishy?", Abhi said and the two looked at him with eyebrows raised. " I mean the person died, but still the police isn't here nor did they find his family. ", he added making ManBir fall into thought. Offcourse it was fishy.

" And its been so long she hasn't come out.", Cabir voiced out rising Manik's worries. He was about to say something when his phone rang. He saw the caller id. " Its Yug Bhai.", he said and picked up the call and put it on speaker.

" Manik! Where is Shia?", came Yug's highly worried voice and the three exchanged glances.

" She is still in there. The patient died. They took away the body to the morgue sometime back. ", Manik replied trying to keep calm. But the worry inside him was rising with each second.

" If the body is already taken then what is she doing in there?", it was Navya's voice this time and they frowned.

" That wardboy said that she has to look after some procedures for sending the body for postmortem.", Cabir said and they could here loud gasp of Navya from the other side.

" Oh My God! Cabir! There's no such procedure. They tricked you. Go in and check where she is. Hey Matarani!", Navya said and the three boys' face paled instantly. They rushed inside the OT only to find it completely empty. They searched all around the room but didn't find anything.

" Shit! She's not here!", Abhi shouted and everyone there in Murthy Mansion became stiff.

" But where did she go? We...we were all the time outside the door only na. ", Cabir said, trying to act sane but failing miserably. His whole body seemed to tingle with an unknown fear.

" The stretcher.", Manik wishpered and realisation hit them hard.

Nandini's pov

Why am I not able to open my eyes?

I try to move my hand to my eyes. But.....Shit! My hands are tied behind my back. My legs....Oh My God! Even they are tied.

Aah! I feel a sting pain on the side of my neck. What is it? Aah!

Where the hell am I?

I try to remember what had actually happened. I get some blurry images of me going to the hospital. Uh! There was some emergency. Ya.

Suddenly the pictures get clear in my mind. And realisation hits me hard. I am kidnapped. Because of my foolishness.

Flashback

I ask Manik, Abhi and Cabir to sit outside, and enter the OT followed by Neha and Nitin.

Neha and Nitin. They are new here. Why did the authorities allow them to accompany me in an emergency operation?

I enter inside to see that the OT is completely empty. There are no assisstant doctors. I thought they would be here taking details of the patient before starting the surgery.

Then my eyes fall on the bed. And I gasp in shock. There is no patient. What the hell is this!

I turn around to see Neha standing there with a very scared and nervous expression.

" What the hell is this Neha? Where is the patient? Whats going on here?", I shout at her and she flinches.

I was about to move out of the room but she blocked my path. I looked at her with a confused face but she just looked at me with teary eyes.

" I'm sorry ma'am.", she wishpers, but before I could understand anything, I feel a sting pain in the side of my neck. I hiss loudly and turn my head only to find Nitin standing there with an empty syringe. I realise what it was.

Shit! He gave me Midazolam! That too in the Carotids!

Its a drug to make one sleepy and unconscious. What the fuck!

Fears grips in me. I realise where this is leading me to.

The drug is given in the carotid. So it starts to act quickly. I try to move towards the door and call Manik. But Neha and Nitin block my way. I try to shove them off, but the drug has strarted its job. I don't have enough energy left to fight them. Nitin holds me and forcefully tries to take me towards the stretcher. I try to stop him. But fail.

" God will never forgive us for this Nitin.", I hear Neha speaking in a shaky voice. She is crying. But why?

" I know Neha. But if we don't do this, that Devil will finish us first.", Nitin says. Who are they talking about? Vivek Murthy?

My head starts spinning wildly. The surroundings start blurrying out. I try hard to keep my eyes open but fail.

" We're sorry Nandini Ma'am. I'll pray to God to save you from that Devil."

These words of Neha were the last I heard before darkness engulfed me turning everything BLANK.

Flashback over

Who were they talking about? Is it Vivek Murthy?

Shit! What am I gonna do now?

Manik! Manik must be so worried. All....all will be worried for me.

How will I escape?
I don't even know where I am.

I open my eyes slowly to find again................ DARKNESS. Shit! No no no! Nooooo!

Memories of that dreadful night start flowing into my head.

No no no no Stop!

Nandini you have to be strong. You are Manik's Nandini. You can't get scared.

I close my eyes shut tightly to get a grip on my thoughts. I can't let those old memories bother me again.

Suddenly, the sound of the door opening catches my attention. I open my eyes to see some figure standing at the door.

Some switch is pressed and light floods the room. I close my eyes again because of the sudden bright light. I hear a chuckle from the door.

" How are you Baby Girl? I hope you are enjoying our special treatment?", I hear the voice snickering at me.

But wait! Why does the voice seem familiar?

I open my eyes to see the person standing in front of me and my eyes threaten to come out of it's sockets in shock.

" You! "

Hehehe! Cliffhanger!
