Dhruv's pov

We reach the court where Buddy's hearing is scheduled at 3. Buddy being a big celebrity and Kunal being a higher grade lawyer managed to schedule the hearing same day only. I don't know how did they get proves so soon.

Anyways, we reach there to find media surrounding the whole place making it difficult for us to move. Some NGO women have started demonstrations against Manik. What is their problem? Can't they wait for the truth to come out first? They just know how to defame someone. Huh!

I see Buddy being brought there by the police. He looks towards us and smiles. His face doesn't even have a frown. I know why.
He knows he hasn't done anything wrong. So why should he fear?
Moreover he has full faith in Nandini. Well, we all have.

We enter inside to find Soha coming with Vivek and Niharika. That other lawyer is also with them. I guess he is that Dixit about whom Kunal told us. That bastard!

Finally the judge enters and gestures for the hearing to start. Dixit being the lawyer of the victim is given the first chance and he spits out all kinds of lies.

I mean what the fuck! He says my buddy asked Soha to sleep with him to take back case on Vivek. How disgusting!

Dixit: Your Honour! I would like to call my client and the victim Ms. Soha Murthy to come to the witness box.

Judge: Granted.

That bitch walks to the witness box with a fake sad face. For God's sake anyone who sees her can tell its all fake.

Dixit: So Ms Murthy. Can you please tell us what exactly happened last night?

Soha: Last night I went to meet Manik to ask him to take back the case as we all know my father is innocent. (Innocent! My foot!) I mean all the chaos that Nandini was creating was just affecting my Dad's health and I couldn't see that happen. I thought Manik was manipulated by Nandini so I went there to tell him the truth and ask him to support me. (God! How can someone speak such white lies? ) When I got there and told him everything, he didn't react. Then he looked at me and smiled. I thought that he was agreeing to me, but I was wrong.
Suddenly he called someone and told something that I couldn't hear. I next few minutes before I could comprehend anything, his watchman came and locked the door from outside and went away. I became scared. ( My Buddy would never do such a thing. God! She is even shedding fake tears! Where from is she getting it? Does glisterine really produce so many tears?) The...enn h..he.. he asked me t..to sl...slee. ( For God's sake girl why are you stammering? I mean hiccuping? I mean....whatever! ) He asked me to sleep with him. He said if I sleep with him, he will help me in winning the case. And when I refused, he tried to force himself on me. Thats when I picked up the vase and hit him on his forehead and he fell unconscious.

SHE HIT HIM WITH A VASE! THIS BLOODY BITCH. MY BUDDY FELL UNCONSCIOUS! I..I WILL... calm down Dhruv. What's happening to you? Remember you are a good boy. And good boys don't swear so much or get violent. BUT IT WOULD HAVE PAINED HIM SO MUCH! Calm down calm down.

As soon as she completed her speech, Soha burst into sobs. Some were looking at her with sympathy while some were looking at her with such an angry face as if they will kill her with their gazes only.

But Nandini sat there unaffected. Yug and Cabir who were sitting beside her were surprised to see her not at all reacting to what Soha said.

Manik after listening to all the allegations, just looked at Nandini to find her reaction. It was only her reaction that mattered to him. He was afraid of what was going on in her mind. He was afraid for himself.

But seeing her sitting there unaffected, made his priorities change. The fear that he had for himself was transfered to the Father- Daughter duo. Coz from the look on her face he could make out that now, they are gone. Thinking about it just gave him an urge to laugh at Soha's fake sobs, which he very efficiently suppressed.

Dixit: So now its clear Your Honour that Manik Malhotra is the culprit. But for more proofs, I have got a witness. ( All except Kunal and Nandini became tensed. Where from did they get a witness now?) I would like call the watchman of Malhotra Heights, Mukund Mishra to come to the witness box.

The Malhotra men were shocked. They always thought that Mukund was loyal. His father had been a loyal driver to Raj always and before his death when Raj went to meet him, he had only put forward his wish to give Mukund a job in Malhotra Heights. But they never had imagined that the son of such a loyal and righteous man will turn out like this.

Mukund walked up to the witness box. While going his gaze met Manik's and something in his eyes told Manik that he was highly guilty of what he was doing. But still, what he was doing could cost The Malhotras, their everything.

Dixit: So Mr.Mukund Mishra. What do you have to say about last night's incident?

Mukund: Last night when everyone had left the office, Ms. Soha was in there in Manik Sir's cabin. Manik Sir called me and asked me to come lock his cabin from outside. When I tried to ask him why, he threatened me to do as he says. When I went to lock his cabin, I saw Soha was sitting there and she was shocked to see what was happening and Manik Sir was standing there with a smirk. After that I don't know what happened. When in the morning Mr. Vivek came there with police, I was very scared and ran away from there.

Mukund's statement shocked everyone except a few. That included offcourse Vivek, Soha, Dixit and our very own Kunal and Nandini.

Dixit: So Your Honour, this proves how cheap a man Manik Malhotra is. He tried to force himself on my client. He tried to cage her in his cabin. I request you to give strict puni...

Kunal: (raising from his seat with a cool attitude and cutting Dixit in the middle) Objection You Honour.

Everyone were surprised to see Kunal so unaffected. Kunal was a lawyer who even if he had enough proofs, would worry about every little thing. Inside the courtroom he always had a tensed face. Even the Judge was shocked today to see his ever- tensed Kunal being so cool about everything. It seemed as if he already knew that this would happen.

Kunal: Hearing just one side can't prove Manik Malhotra guilty Mr. Dixit. It is absolutely against the law. And I being a very responsible lawyer, would never want it to happen. (Turning to the judge) So, Your Honour, I would like to put forward my side. For that I would again like to call Ms. Poh...uhhmm..pardon me, Ms. Soha to the witness box.

Everyone supressed their smiles and laughs at Kunal's intentionally done, unintentional mistake. Soha was fuming at him as he had royally insulted her inside a courtroom, and then royally ignored it. She stomped up to the witness box again.

Kunal: So, Ms. Soha Murthy. You said you had gone to ask Manik Malhotra to withdraw the case and support you. Right? (She nodded) But why did you need it?I mean in the last hearing of the case, it was clear that we didn't have enough proofs to prove our side. So you were anyways going to win the case in the next few days. So what was the need to go to Manik to ask for his support? Or did you have some other intentions?

Manik and others were looking at her keenly. Yes this was a valid question.

Soha: Ummm...actually it was taking long and my Dad's health was deteriorating because of it. And also I feared Nandini to take any unfair means to win the case and put my Dad in trouble. Thats why I went to Manik.

Manik was gritting his teeth. Even his family had their hands fisted. But surprisingly Nandini was having a smirk.

Kunal: Ok. Let us assume that you wanted it all to get sorted as soon as possible, so went to ask for Mr. Malhotra's support. (Soha: Yes.) But why did you choose to go there so late at night. I mean, almost everyone had left. How did you actually know that Manik will be in his office and not at home like his father and brother?

This question of Kunal put everyone in question. Yes. How did she know that he would be there?

Soha stiffened. But seems like she had been trained well. She tried answering.

Soha: I went there as soon as Dad had a stroke and fell unconscious. I couldn't see him in that state so I decided to go and meet Manik asap and so I went at that time.

Kunal: Okay, we accept this that you were very concerned for your father so you didn't waste a minute. But you didn't answer my second question. How did you come to know that Manik was there at office that late last night?

This question made Soha stammer a bit. But later composing herself she tried to answer back.

Soha: I had heard that Manik is so serious about his bussiness that he often spent late hours at office. So I decided to go there.

Kunal:(smirking) Please note this Your Honour. What Ms. Soha said now is completely baseless. Because my client Mr. Manik Malhotra never spent late hours at office. It was very rare that he was found in office after 8. He and Mr. Cabir Malhotra used to leave the office at sharp 8 and they used go to their Music room to focus on their albums. It was only last night that my client got a call from one of his foreign clients to wait for their video conference at 11 in the night in India, and thats what compelled him to stay back. (Turning to Soha) So Ms. Soha. From where did you get this baseless information?

Soha went pale. Her statement had been swiftly altered by Kunal and she was left speechless. Manik and the others were smirking now. But she was also not someone to give up so early. So gathering courage she said

Soha: Its just that I heard it. How am I supposed to know what I heard is wrong.

Kunal: Well but still you timed it so well. I mean you actually came to meet him when he was waiting for video conference at late.

Soha: It was coincidence.

Kunal: (raising his voice) It was not a coincidence Ms. Soha but you had yourself planned all this to defame my client.

Soha: (shouting) No!

Kunal: (raising his voice further) Yes Ms. Soha. You did plan all this.

Soha: (shouting) No! I didn't

Kunal: Yes yo...

Dixit:(cutting in) Objection Your Honour. Mr. Ahuja is trying to lead my client. It was just a mere coincidence.

Kunal:(smirking) Don't you think Mr. Dixit that this mere coincidence of yours is a bit too dramatic? (Some people giggled hearing him. Even the judge was trying to supress his smile.) I mean, Madame Soha, who never visited Malhotra Heights before, goes there late at night to meet Manik Malhotra, the same rare day when he had urgent work to stay back offcourse about which SHE had no idea, and then ends up getting almost molested?

Nandini's smirk was getting darker and darker and Manik's heart was coming outer and outer seeing her looking sexy as hell with the smirk. I mean he was paying less attention to the hearing and more to Nandini's face. Hehehe...

This question of Kunal made even The Great Naren Dixit falter. But being a crooked mind that he was he handled the situation.

Dixit: Mr Ahuja, the court wants proofs. If you don't have proofs then accept it rather than creating a drama over here.

Kunal: Oh ya....proofs.....well, I would like to ask the police why they have not collected any CCTV footages from Malhotra Heights. I mean the office has got so many CC cameras. And its important to collect as many proofs as possible.

Judge: Its a valid point. Inspector Bakshi, why has there been such a lag in the investigation?

Bakshi: Your Honour, there has been no lag in the investigation. We tried to get the CCTV footages as well. But some cameras of Malhotra Heights were not working last night and the others didn't have any images of Ms. Soha.

Kunal: Here is a very important point to note Your Honour. According to the security room computers, all the cameras were in a proper working condition till last evening. Then how come suddenly some of them stop working when Ms. Soha decides to come to the office and that too only those which could have captured her footage?

This made Soha shiver a bit. Even Dixit and Vivek fumbled. Niharika was looking at them in confusion. She was confused what to believe and what not.

Now even Manik smirked. He knew that Nandini and Kunal had it all planned.

Judge: Mr. Dixit. Please answer?

Dixit: Umm...Your Honour, it..it was just a coincidence.

Kunal: Don't you think Mr. Dixit aaj kal kuch jyada hi coincidences ho rahe hain?

Dixit: Its not like that Mr. Ahuja. It can be a coincidence. Moreover how can we know when the cameras were of Malhotra Heights?

Kunal: Okay. Okay. Leave it. ... But Your Honour, I have got something that can solve this problem. I am sorry Your Honour for not submitting it earlier but if I had, then this would have also vanished like my other evidences in the last hearing.

Everyone become curious while the Judge nodded Kunal handed something to the clerk who instantly played it on the screen.

It was the view of the entrance of Malhotra Heights along with the road in front of it.

Kunal: Your Honour this is the footage captured by a CCTV camera of building of Sethia constructions which is exactly opposite to that of Malhotra Heights. It has got a clear view of the entrance of Malhotra Heights.

This made Soha sweat. Dixit and Vivek were sitting there with tensed faces. Suddenly getting no other way Dixit rose to his feet.

Dixit: Objection Your Honour. There is no validification of this evidence. It cannot be presented.

Kunal: Well for that here is the official validification of the proof Your Honour which I had done beforehand only. And if you have got further doubts Mr. Dixit, then we also have Mr. Diwakar Sethia present over here who can confirm that the footage is of his camera only.

The judge looked at the man in his mid Fifties, who nodded, hence proving the evidence to be valid.

Dixit: But Your Hono...

Judge: Get back to your seat Mr. Dixit. Let Mr. Ahuja put forward his stand.

Having no other option, Dixit got back to his seat, but tension and fear could clearly be seen on his face.

Kunal: So Your Honour, here I present the first footage.

The video played. After some seconds all could see Soha getting out of a car and walking to the entrance. She stops there and speaks something to the watchman who nods and then she proceeds inside.

Kunal: Please note the time Your Honour. The time when Soha arrives is 10:14 at night whereas in her statement she has written that she went there at 9. Can you please explain this Ms. Soha? Or was it that your watch had slowed showing you the wrong time, which is yet another coincidence?

Everyone around the courtroom except a few were amused by the happenings. Soha shivered with sweat beads forming on her forehead.

Soha: Wo..umm.. actually.....I..I was no..not in a right state of mind when the statement was taken. So I...I...it was a mistake.

Kunal: Hmmm.....okay, we can consider that, but what were you talking to the watchman? I mean, I don't think you need the support of the watchman of Malhotra Heights to save your father.....UNLESS , you needed his help in some other thing.

Soha stiffened. She really didn't know what to answer. Her truth was threatening to come out which was making her hell restless. She looked at Dixit and her father who were also restless. She turned back to Kunal and gulping hard, she tried to make up something.

Soha: I..I was just....just asking him not to lock the office.

Kunal: But Ms Soha it was actually not required. I mean with his boss already inside, he very well must be knowing that he shouldn't lock the office. Comeon Ms. Soha. You can make something better than this I believe.

Soha: (stammering hard) N...no.. I..I ju..

Kunal: You just what Madame Soha?

Dixit: Objection Your Honour. My client is a victim of molestation. She is not in a right state of mind. And Mr. Ahuja is making her restless.

Kunal: First of all Mr. Dixit. Whether she is a victim or not will be decided by the court and not you. So stop calling her that. And next, if Ms. Soha is getting restless then she can go back to her seat.

Soha breathed a sigh of relief and descended down the witness box and proceeded towards her seat. But in her way she gave a hard glare to Nandini who did nothing but smiled at her with such a deadly smirk that made her shiver for a moment.

Kunal: Your Honour, now I would like to call Mr. Mukund Mishra to come up to the witness box.

Judge: Granted.

Mukund walked up to the witness box.

Kunal: So, Mr. Mukund, you said Manik called you and asked you to lock his cabin.

Mukund: Yes.

Kunal: Ok then.

He gestured the clerk to play another video. In the video, Mukund is seen sitting on his seat at the entrance and continuously looking at his watch. After a few moments, he gets up and walks in. Again after a few moments he comes out and runs away from there.

This shocked everyone. The video just proved every sentence of Mukund as false.

Kunal: Here you can clearly see Your Honour, that Mukund never got any call from Manik. He himself got up and went to lock the cabin exactly at 10: 30, which is exactly 15 minutes after Soha went in. This means that it was pre- planned. He had been already told to lock the cabin and run away at exactly 10:30 pm. And since Ms. Soha said that her arrival at Malhotra Heights was unplanned and unannounced, as she went there when her father got a stroke, it is clear that my client Manik Malhotra had no hand in it.
Here are the call details of both Mr. Malhotra's phone and his cabin's landline.(he said handing over some papers to the clerk who handed it to the judge) Both the call details clear it that there has been no call from Mr. Malhotra's side after 9:30, which was his last call to his brother.

It was clear now that Manik was not the actual culprit. But there was obviously something more to prove.

Judge: This clearly states that Mr. Malhotra is no where involved in this. So who did ask Mr. Mukund to do this?(This made everyone curious.)

Kunal: For that I have something else. (Another video is played. It shows Mukund standing somewhere with a tensed face when suddenly a man arrives there and hands him a bundle of notes. They both nod at each other and then disperse from there.) Your Honour this is a video taken by one of our private detectives who was actually following Mukund. And here is the validification. (He handed the paper) In this video you can clearly see someone bribing Mukund. And offcourse it is for having done the job of locking the cabin in time.( Everyone became curious now to know who it was while the Malhotras were constantly glaring at Mukund for his treachery) And the person in this video is none other than Prayash Mehta who is Ms. Soha's PA.

This statement left everyone shocked. Nandini was happy now that her plan has worked. And Soha was now sweating profusely. Dixit was desperately trying to find some escape but failing. Mukund was shivering.

Kunal: Mukund. It is clear now what the truth is. So you don't have any other choice other than confessing. Confess it. May be you may get some relaxation in your punishment.

Mukund:(brealing into tears) I am sorry Manik Sir. I am so sorry. I was helpless.

This made everyone look at him curiously. Even Nandini, coz till now she was thinking that he did this only for money.

Kunal: Why were you helpless? You were getting money for it.

Mukund: I did not want to do this. But Soha Murthy threatened me. She had got my wife and mother on gunpoint, and was threatening me to do this.(Everyone was shocked to the core. How can someone stoop to this level?) She said if I agree to her, she will give me money for my mother's treatment, but if I don't, then she will kill both of them. I had no other choice. Please forgive me Manik Sir. Give me any punishment but please forgive. I never wanted to do this.

He broke into sobs and everyone's gazes softened. The poor man had to go through so much because of someone's evil intentions. Offcourse he had no choice. How can he put his family's lifes in danger?

Kunal: Calm down Mr. Mukund. We can understand you. (Turning to the judge) Your Honour, so now it is clear that my client Mr. Malhotra is not at all at fault. He is the real victim here. Ms. Soha Murthy had actually planned it all to trap him. She herself went there and herself asked Mukund to lock the cabin when she was inside with Manik. She had mixed sleeping pill in Mr. Manik's glass of water. And when he drank it, he fell unconscious. Then she herself made a few scratches on herself and then hit Unconscious Manik on his forehead with a vase to make it look like she was molested.

Judge: (sternly) Do you have anything to say on this Mr. Dixit?

Dixit:(having no way out) No Your Honour.

Manik and his family now let out a sigh in relief and they had smile gracing their lips. Nandini had a wide smile. She looked at Manik with twinkling eyes, who mouthed a 'Love You' to her widening her smile even more.

Judge: So it is now clear that Soha Murthy is at fault here. But Kunal, what can be her motive in this?

To this, Nandini stood up much to everyone's surprise. Kunal smiled at her and led her to the front.

Nandini: Your Honour, if you may permit, may I present something?

Judge nodded. Nandini walked up to Manik and asked him to lean down. He frowned in confusion but still leaned down and she took out something for his black shirt which surprised everyone. It was a mini camera attached to Manik's shirt collar.

Flashback

Nandini came to meet Manik in the police custody. Manik was sitting there completely clueless. Seeing him behind the bars, tears formed at the back of her eyes. But she stopped them from falling and put up a strong face.

She fake coughed to gain Manik's attention. He immediately stood up and went to her.

Both were standing staring in each other's eyes with only the bars between them as barriers. It was as if they were having a conversation through their eyes. The silence was finally broken by Nandini.

Nandini:(wishpering) Do you trust me?

Manik: I do. More than myself.

Nandini smiled at him making his lips to curve into one. She pulled him in her embrace as much as she could. It was paining both because of the bars between them. But still they just needed to assure each other that they were together in this and that they will win.

While in the embrace, Nandini very tactfully tucked the camera onto Manik's shirt collar without his notice.

They parted and Nandini went from there after getting a final look at him.

Flashback over

Nandini handed the camera to the clerk, who played the video on the sceen.

It showed the whole conversation that Soha and Manik had when she came to meet him. (Refer to chapter 43)

Everyone were beyond shocked seeing this. How can someone be so cheap. Just because she wanted to marry him, she decided to put his reputation, his career, his life, everything at stake? How can someone fall so low.

Dixit just palmed his face. Soha now had a pale face. Vivek was sitting there with an expressionless face.

But the most pitiable was Niharika. She was shocked. Tears flew mercilessly from her eyes. She just couldn't believe that her daughter had done something so low as this.

Judge: Considering all the evidences and witnesses, it is proven that Ms. Soha Murthy tried to trap Manik Malhotra by planning fake molestation case. She also threatened Mr. Mukund Mishra by putting his family at gunpoint.
The court sentences Soha Murthy to 6 months of judicial custody(jail) and a fine of 3 lakhs for trying to defame Mr. Manik Malhotra.
(Soha palmed her face sobbing hard)
The court declares Mr. Manik Malhotra free from all charges and apologises on the behalf of the whole system, for the inconvinience caused to him.
(Manik smiles widely and it is reflected on the faces of his family.)
Since Mr. Mukund Mishra did all this in pressure and to save his family, the court gives him a relaxation in punishment. He is sentenced to 3 weeks in the jail and no fine will be imposed on him.
(Mukund joins his hands with teary eyes and looks at Manik who smiles softly at him)
I am ashamed to say that the laws made to protect the women of our country have been misused this time. But I am grateful to Mr. Ahuja and Ms. Nandini Murthy for bringing out the truth.The court is dismissed.

The judge got up to leave. Everyone got up with smiles on their faces except the so- called victim's side. Soha was arrested by the police. Vivek couldn't do anything and Niharika was numb. Dixit was sitting there holding his head in frustration.

Soha: No..no. please please leave me. Leave me. Dad! Dad! Save me Dad!

But Vivek was standing there with an expressionless face.

Vivek comes out of the court only to be surrounded by all the media people bombarding their questions at him.

" Sir your daughter had planned her own fake molestation. What do you have to say about this?"

" Mr. Murthy, what do you have to say about your daughter's deeds? "

" Are you ashamed of her?"

" Were you also involved in this with her? "

" Did you actually support her? "

Vivek was numb. He didn't know what to say. But he had to do something to save his reputation and bussiness.

Vivek: I am very much ashamed with what my daughter did. I always loved her a lot and never put any restrictions. But I never knew my love will result in this. I am very much ashamed of her. I disown her. She is no one to me now.

He said this and walked away into the corridors of the court. But the sight in front of him made him numb.

Soha was standing there handcuffed by the police. She was staring at Vivek with a shocked face. Her eyes showed pain and disbelief. It was evident from her expressions that she had heard her father's words. But in that moment only few words were roaming in her mind.

" Dad, I want to marry Manik. You will help me na?"
"Offcourse I will help you Baby. Do anything you want. I will support you."

" So Dad this is my plan. I will execute it tonight. "
" Amazing. Don't worry. I will be by your side. "

" Dad you will always be with me na?"
" Always."

"I love you Dad."
" I love you too."

" I am ashamed of what my daughter did."

"I disown her."

" She is no one to me now."

Her eyes pooled with tears. They fell from her eyes mercilessly. She felt as if all her strength was gone.

Then suddenly she looked at him and made a disgusted face. She marched to him and came to his level.

Soha:(in a hoarse tone) I always supported you Dad. Always did everything that you asked me to. Do you know why? Because I loved you. I loved you a lot.
I..I thought whatever you said was right. I was always happy thinking that whatever wrong I may do, but I was fulfilling all duties of an ideal daughter.
But today you proved me wrong Dad. I wish I had listened to Mom and not you. I wish I had not become like you.
You succeeded in making me like you Dad. And I like a fool, let you destroy me.
YOU ARE THE WORST FATHER EVER. I HATE YOU. I HATE YOU.

She wiped her tears harshly and went away from there with the police dragging her. She felt lifeless now.

And Vivek Murthy.....well he felt like someone had snatched his soul from his body. The only person he ever loved, now hates him. And its only him to be blamed for it. Finally tears made their way from his eyes after hearing such harsh words from his daughter.

But there was someone who was looking at all this smirking. Although she felt a lot of pity for Soha, she was content that the first step of her plan is completed successfully.

It was none other than NANDINI.

Kunal: What do you plan to do Nandini?

Nandini: Kunal, Vivek Murthy loves only 3 things in this world.
His Daughter SOHA, his MONEY, and his FAME. And I will snatch all three from him. He will be finished completely.

Soha: What about him? I will marry him. Once Nandini goes behind bars, there relation will break and Manik will marry me.

Priya: Do you really think so Soha. Yaar he loves her so much. You have to do something very fast to get Manik in your side. Be it forcefully.

Soha: I think you are right. I will plan something immediately.
