I am really upset this time. I am not getting enough response that I think I should be getting.

Please tell me if there is something in my story you dont like. Tell me, if you dont like it I will change or maybe delete the story but please dont crush my hopes like this everytime. Each time I open my story to see the number of votes and comments and my heart sinks. Don't I deserve more?

I ask my silent readers. Why cant you just spare one click on the star button while reading this story? If you dont like it then dont read. But if you like it and are reading it then please show some response. My heart breaks everytime I see others stories getting so many votes and my story just getting crushed.

Nandini's Pov

Today is the first hearing of our case, and I am now off to the court with Manik, Bhai and Abhi. BB, Arya and my fathers along with AvuMaa are also there. They are following us in the other car. All are confident regarding the case. Even Kunal said that as we have enough proofs, its gonna be easy for us to win the case. But I'm not able to ignore this feeling in me from yesterday. I feel like something wrong is gonna happen.

Aiyappa, you know na how much this case is important for us? Please dont let this be hampered. Please.

We reach the court and get out of the car. Just then the police van arrives at the scene and Vivek Murthy steps out of it with his hands cuffed. Shiver runs down my spine seeing him. He still has that sinister look on his face which scares me to the core. But I feel Manik softly holding my one hand and Bhai the other. Yes, they are my supports.

When I lost myself years back, I couldnt walk as the path was full of thorns. But then Bhai gave me wings. But then I again got lost my path as darkness had engulfed me. But thats when Manik entered my life to become my Shining Star and gave me light.

And thats how I soared.

I breathed in some fresh air and smiled at both of them. We proceeded to the court room where we found Kunal making some preparations and checking last minute things. We exchanged our greetings and sat down waiting for the judge.

All this time I avoided looking at the other side where Soha sat with Mrs. Niharika Murthy and her lawyer. I could feel her continuously glaring at me, but I ignored it completely. I remember what Manik told me after my last encounter with Soha.

Shona remember one thing. That man and his daughter do not mean anything in your life. They are not meant to affect you. You are my love, and my love is strong.

Everytime you see them, dont fall weak. Remember NainaMaa's struggles and pains. Remember what you had to go through. You will get ample amount of strength to fight those bastards.

My Nandini is strong. You understand?

I remember everything he said and do accordingly.

I think about all the nights Maa used to cry in her balcony thinking that I am asleep.

I think about all my birthdays when inspite of having great parties organised by my fathers, I used to cry at night thinking about that man.

I think about the day when he left us. How I had fallen and got injured. But he didnt even spare me a look.

I think about the time I got kidnapped. The way I was tortured. The thought only gives me shivers.

And lastly, I remember the day I saw Maa's body lying lifeless on the ground.

These thoughts just boil me up. My hands form into fists. I just want him to be get the harshest of punishments in the court of law. Yes. And I'll make sure of that.

My trance broke when Manik shook me to stand up as the judge entered.

The case finally started. Kunal gave a synopsis of our case to the judge and gave all the briefings.

Their lawyer suddenly stood up and started to decline all blames. Infact, what surprised me is that he tried to put all blames on us.

Dixit(Vivek's lawyer) : Your honour, my client Mr. Vivek Murthy is a very respectable person in the society. He has his own family of three, his wife and daughter, whom he loves a lot. Nandini Murthy is trying to trap him in a false case just because he did not give her any share in his property. But in reality Your Honour, Mr. Vivek Murthy was forced by family to marry Ms. Sunaina Chatterjee even when he was already married to Mrs. Niharika Murthy. He later divorced her because he never wanted to be with her. The divorce papers have been already submitted to you as evidence. (I was about to stand up and shout as they were telling white lies and defaming my mother. This man never gave her divorce. But Kunal stopped me. )
After that Sunaina Chatterjee came with Ms. Nandini claiming that she was his child. But Mr. Vivek never acknowledged it.

I could feel my brothers fisting their hands in anger and Manik's hold on me tighten and his eyes turned red. They were about to get up when Kunal started.

Kunal: (cutting in Dixit) I object Your Honour. The things that Mr. Dixit is stating are nothing but straight lies. Vivek Murthy never gave divorce to Mrs. Sunaina Murthy. He left her and went away after Ms. Nandini had already turned 6 years old and his family was unaware of him having married Mrs. Niharika Murthy till when Nandini was 10 years old. They never forced him to marry Mrs. Sunaina Murthy infact he himself had eloped with her. This is just utter nonsense that Mr. Dixit is speaking and. ...

Dixit: (cutting him in) Mr. Ahuja, Mr. Ahuja, the court does not run on the basis of someones talks and emotions. It runs on the basis of evidence. Where is your evidence to prove that Vivek made Sunaina elope with him? Where is your evidence that they were not divorced. They were not staying together even.

Kunal: Mr. Dixit, a couple not staying together doesn't mean they have been officially divorced. And moreover what proof do you have for whatever you said.

Dixit: Your Honour, I have already submitted the divorce papers to you. The date clearly states that they were lawfully separated years back. When Ms. Nandini was not even born.

Kunal: Objection your honour. But those papers are not true. They are a fraud.

Dixit: Let the court decide that Mr. Ahuja. You are no one to state my evidences as a fraud.

Kunal:But..

Judge: Objection overruled. Continue Mr. Dixit.

Tears were forming at the back of my eyes. But I didnt let them flow. I cant show myself weak here.

Dixit: Thank you Your Honour. I would like to call upon Ms. Nandini Murthy to the witness box.

I stood up to go. Manik gave me an assuring nod and I went and stood in the witness box.

Dixit: So Ms. Nandini Murthy. You claim that the attack on you when you were fifteen, was planned by Mr. Vivek Murthy whom you claim to be your father.

Nandini: I dont claim. I know that. That is true. He has himself confessed his crime in front of me and my whole family. Infact we have recorded it. He is also behind my Mother's murder.

Dixit: But, Ms. Nandini, your mother's death was an accident because she got a heartattack while driving. There is no hand of my client's in it. Your Honour, Ms. Sunaina Chatterjee's forensic reports are there with you. Please do check it.

Nandini:(shouting) But it was a lie. Vivek Murthy had threatened Dr. Bhattacharya to make false reports. He has himself confessed
Infact Dr. Bhattacharya himself said this.

Dixit: You say Dr. Bhattacharya had told you that he had made false reports due to Mr. Vivek's pressure. (She nodded) But Your Honour, I have submitted Dr. Bhattacharya's written statement because he has recently been admitted to the hospital because of some serious ailment and is not able to get up. He has himself stated that the forensic report he made was true and Ms. Nandini was forcing him to come and give wrong statement in her favour. He has even signed it.

Nandini and Arya look at each other in shock. How can everything they planned take a different route?

All looked tensed. Kunal was frantically searching for some way to cut in Dixit and put his point forward.

Dixit: This proves that Ms. Nandini is a lier who is trying to trap my client in a fake case just to get a share in his property.

Nandini:(exasperated) But...

Kunal:(cutting in) Objection Your Honour. A written document cannot prove this. If Mr. Vivek Murthy had threatened Dr. Bhattacharya once, then he could do it again. Theres no doubt in it.

Dixit: If you are forgetting Mr. Ahuja so let me remind you. My client Mr. Vivek Murthy was in jail. He can't simply go to someone and threaten him.

Kunal: Offcourse he can't Mr. Dixit. But someone else can. For an example his daughter Ms. Soha Murthy or probably you.

Dixit look baffled for a moment but then retorted back.

Dixit: Mr. Ahuja you are violating the decorum of court. You can't disrespect me like this.

Judge:(in a warning tone) Mr. Ahuja.

Kunal: I am really sorry Your Honour. But I request you to let me put my point forward. We do have proofs against Mr. Vivek and need your permission for it.

Judge: Permission granted.

Kunal: Your honour, my client Ms. Nandini was kidnapped and sexually molested for 4 long days. The case files have been submitted to you. 3 persons were nabbed by the police and sentenced to life imprisonment.

(The judge checked some papers and nodded)

Kunal: But Ms. Murthy suspected that it had all been planned as she got some clues about it when she was kidnapped. But back then she was not in a right frame of mind and just a few days later her mother Mrs. Sunaina Murthy died. Reports said that she died due to overdose of antidepressants. But her room was never checked.
But the truth is that no antidepressants were found in her room and no chance of taking them in car as she was not driving in her car that day.
Few days back Mr. Vivek Murthy had gone to Ms. Murthy's birthday party uninvited and had a verbal dispute with her in which he himself admitted to the crimes he has done. I have submitted the video along with the proofs of Mr. Murthy's illegal bussinesses that he runs. Please do check them Your honour.

The judge looked for the proofs but could find nothing other than some property papers belonging to Mr. Murthy.

Judge: But Mr. Ahuja you have not submitted any video.

Kunal looked shocked and others frowned.

Kunal: But sir, I submitted them last night positively. You can confirm from the officer in charge.

Judge: I have already asked him. He has got everything you submitted last night. There is no video chip or any illegal bussiness papers. The property papers you have submitted are of SN Labels which is a music company owned by Mr. Murthy. I dont think you can term a music company as illegal.

Kunal looked tensed now. Nandini and others went blank. Nandini immediately looked to her opposite where Vivek was standing with a dirty smirk. Her hands formed a fist. She very well knew that it was all done by him and his daughter. But what are they gonna do now?

Suddenly Kunal came up with another idea.

Kunal: Your Honour I have a copy of the video with me. I know it is not submissible as it has not been submitted earlier but if you can please for once consider it.

Dixit: This is highly unproffessional Your Honour. This is a clear violation of law.

Kunal: Your Honour please. Atleast have a look at it once.

The judge thought for sometime and nodded.

Kunal sighed in relief and the others too. He took his mobile and gave to the clerk who connected it to the screen in the court.

The video started playing and everyone looked at it keenly.

Vivek Murthy is shown entering the Murthy's garden with a sinister look. And then the conflict starts. The video proceeds till Nandini accuses him of killing her mother. But suddenly the video starts showing some disturbance. The screen flikers and then goes blank.

Nandini looks at Kunal in confusion. But he was looking at the screen in horror.

Dixit: What is this Mr. Ahuja. I never knew that a lawyer like you will do this. Try to cheat the court showing pirated videos.

Everyone's face turned pale while Kunal was standing there with both horror and helplessness. Only 3 people looked happy. Vivek, Dixit and Soha. Even Niharika had her head hung low. The judge looked extremely angry.

Judge: What is this Mr. Ahuja? This is really unacceptable. I will have to cancel your license.

Kunal: Your Honour please listen to me..

Judge: What should I listen to now Kunal? You show a pirated video in court and you ask me to listen?

Arya: But I myself shot the video. Its not fake.

Dixit: I'm sorry Mr. But the video has been proved pirated. Which means it has been edited. So it can't be accepted. And also you need to be called to the witness box to put your point.

Arya huffed and sat down.

Judge: The court comes to the conclusion that Mr. Vivek Murthy is innocent. Ms. Nandini Murthy has tried to frame him in a fake case. So the court sentences her to....

" Exuse me Your Honour "

Everyone turns around to see The Commissioner himself coming forward. He comes and stands beside Kunal.

C: Your Honour, I think you should listen to me once before you give any statement. Sir I myself had gone that day to Murthy Mansion to arrest Mr. Vivek Murthy. During the arrest he went mad and threatened her that he will kill her the way he killed his mother. My men who were with me that day, you can ask them.

Some policemen present around Vivek nodded and said yes, agreeing to what Commissioner said. This raised a hope in the hearts of some people.

The atmosphere in the courtroom became tense as Vivek Murthy shifted uncomfortably at his place and the Judge frowned.

Commissioner paced forward and handed over few documents to the clerk who passed it to the judge.

Commissioner: These are the written statements given by Mr. Vivek Murthy to the police in which he has admitted to his crime. We also have a small voice recording recorded during the interrogation. We also have Ms. Murthy's statement on how she got the proofs. I swear upon my job that we had arrested Mr. Murthy on the basis of valid proofs and even he has confessed to it.

The judge studied the proofs given by the documents and proofs.

Dixit: (slyly) Sir, you being the Police Commissioner, I don't think I need to tell you about the law. Any statement given to the police is not admissible in court.

Commissioner:(glaring at him) I very well know that Mr. Dixit. You don't need to teach me law here. (Turning to the judge) Your honour, I know, on the basis of these proofs, you cannot give your statement. But I request you, on the basis of these documents and proofs, please give Nandini and Mr. Ahuja another chance to prove their innocence and Mr. Vivek's guilt. Please sir.

Dixit: Your Honour, but this is not justice. Why should my client suffer in the jail all these just because of false accussations which have not even been proved yet.

Judge: Mr. Dixit please, let me take the decision. (Dixit zipped his mouth) (turning to everyone) The documents provided by The Police Commissioner give an indication that there may be some truth in what Ms. Murthy and Mr. Ahuja say. So the court gives them a time of 5 days to prove their innocence. If they fail to do so, they will be subjected to severe punishment. In the meantime, the court orders the police to release Mr. Vivek Murthy from the jail as the accusations on him could not be proved. But since the investigation is not over yet, he will remain in house arrest till the next court session which is 5 days from now.

Dixit huffed and returned to his seat and Vivek and Soha made an annoyed face and glared at Nandini, who stood there with a smile on her face and hope in her heart.

She has 5 days now. She has to do something.

And she heard the voice of her mother from somewher deep within her heart

" Evil can win once Nanhi. But not always. It has to loose one day. And it will. "
