Malhotra Mansion

Manik was sitting in his balcony sipping coffee and thinking about his meeting with Nandu. When asked about his decision, he had just asked for some more time and came up to his room after asking Navya to send a cup of coffee for him.

Manik's pov:

Nandini... The first thing that comes to mind when I take her name is her beauty. She has that ethereal beauty that can make me transfixed anytime I look at her. Her eyes.... There was so much hidden in those doe eyes that it made me restless for a moment. I don't know what she is hiding but that flash of hurt when she was explaining her trust issues still got to me.

I don't know why but I just couldn't stop myself from telling those things to her. I want to win her trust. But will she even give me a chance?

Why would she Malhotra? What do you even mean to her? Just her sister's brother -in law and may be a prospect that she can reject any moment.

"Anyway thats her decision Malhotra. For you now its important what you want to do. Do you want to take a step forward?", thevoice in me asked.

" I don't know.", I said going back into my thoughts. What am I supposed to do? How am I even supposed to decide by just meeting her once?

" So just go meet her again. Talk to her more. Try to understand her more. Maybe then you will be able to have a clear mind about her?", the voice said again and I sighed. I think he is right.

( His thoughts were broken by a ring of his phone. )

Who the fuck is calling me now? Fuck! Mukti! I forgot to catch up with her about the updates of our next album. Mukti is gonna kill me.

(He stood up immediately to take the call  and it went on with curses from Mukti.)

Manik's POV ends

Murthy Mansion

The scene here wasn't very different from the former. When Anjali asked Nandini what she thought about Manik she simply said she needs time and came to her room. After a few mins she went to the kitchen and got herself a mug of hot chocolate which was her tonic for deep thoughts and went to her bacony.

Nandini's pov

Aiyappa.. I saw him for the first time in real life today. He looks so handsome! And those eyes.. You can see all of him just through those chocolate brown eyes. His words... his voice...its all so captivating. The lyrics of his songs are so soothing to my broken heart. And today seeing the person behind those beautiful words.. I just can't tell you how I'm feeling Aiyappa.

But then those words he said to me flash in front of me and I get goosebumps. He said he wanted to win my trust. But why Aiyappa? Who am I to him? I am nothing but a prospect. He can anytime just reject me and move on. So why does want me to trust him? Why does he want me to know that he's there for me?

Maybe he's like that only for everyone around him. Hmm his personality reflects empathy. I think that is what it is. But the sincerity in his eyes really did scare me. I don't know about what's gonna happen next.. but I'm sure that I won't get anyone better than him in my life.

The only thing is... am I ready for him?

Nandini's POV ends

Her train of thoughts were broken by a knock on her door. She opened it to find Yug and Anant standing there with three cups of hot chocolate. She let them in who went and sat on her bed.

" Hey! Don't ruin my bed!", she said as she saw Anant literally sprawl on her bed and make himself comfortable. " As if we care.", he said casually recieving a glare from his sister which he royally ignored and went to take a cup from the tray.

" Here." Yug forarded a cup to Nandini who took it with a sigh. " I just had a cup of hot chocolate." Yug shrugged and Anant said sipping his drink. " So what? You can have one more with us." She nodded and they started gossiping. This was their favourite passtime. Sitting together and talking about their lives at night while sipping hot chocolate. Usually Kumudh, Saanchi and Abhi used to join them and Navya too before her marriage. But today the brothers had something important to discuss with their sister.

They both looked at each other and nodded. Anant decided to start. " Okay now lets talk about why we came here. Did you think about it Kiddo?" Nandini remained silent hearing him and her brothers understood her dilemma. Yug came forward to hold her hand and she looked up at him.

" I know what you're thinking Shia. I know you have your insecurities. But trust me Bachha. You need to give life a chance. Everyone in this world is not like him and you know that very well. All you have to do is open up your heart a little and keep your insecurities aside for once."

Nandini listened to him and went into a deep thought again. She was thinking about what Yug said but her demons were so deep rooted that it made her restless. Seeing this both brothers just sighed.  " Come here Shia. " Yug said and Nandini laid down with her head on his lap. He caressed her hairs and asked her softly. " Tell me now. What did he say?"

" You can skip the romantic details you know. You were with him for soooo long. Must have been something interesting. Given the wall in your room?", Anant said teasing her and she glared at him. " Bhaiya I'll kill you! See na Bhai!"

Nandu whined hitting him and looked at Yug with a pout who just glared at his brother. " Anu. Thappad khaega? ( Do you need a slap.)"

" You're no fun Bhai. "

" Leave him. Tell me Shia. What did you two talk about? If thats okay with you offcourse. " Nandini nodded and proceeded to tell them, leaving some details. Some things need to be kept personal, she thought.

Yug and Anant were happy hearing what Manik said to her. But frowned seeing the restlessness in Nandini when she spoke about it. But her next words just made Anant too angry.

" I don't know what to do Bhai. He's such an amazing human. He doesn't deserve someone like me. Someone who is..."

" Dare you complete that sentence Nandini! I can tolerate anything but not anyone degrading my sister in front of me. Even if its she herself who is doing it. How many times do I have to tell you that whatever happened was neither your fault and nor should it affect your future!"

Anant was fuming and that scared Nandini. He was someone who had a short temper and she knew it. But the topic of discussion was very sensitive for her and she was already not in a very good frame of mind. Yug noticed this and showed his eyes to Anant who shut his mouth trying to calm himself. He sighed knowing he had scared his sister and just went forward to caress her head. " I'm sorry. I just lost my temper." She nodded, but she was still silent and Anant gestured Yug to speak further.

" Shia. Stop thinking low of yourself. Why do you think he doesn't deserve you? Do you even know how precious you are? You came into this world and with that came prosperity for our family. You have always been a lucky charm for all your brothers. Till date me and Anant never go for any deal before talking to you or seeing you once. Abhi never takes any decision in his life without asking you. Its high time you understand your worth Nandini.

And past is just past Shia. It can't define your future. You are the perfect life partner for anyone albeit your past. You are caring. You understand people well. And the most important..when you love someone, you love with your whole heart. What more does a man need?

You have already moved on in your proffessional life. Your success has made us all so proud of you. So why can't you do the same in your personal life too? I know you're trying. But its not time for baby steps anymore Shia. Its time for you to take major decisions Baby and you can't let your past come in between."

Nandini listened to his every word carefully and realisation dawned on her. Yes. She needs to move on. And for that she needs to give Manik a chance. But was she ready to do so?

" Bhai I need to meet him again.", she said after a long silence and her brothers looked at her.

" Kya baat hai? Humne chance dene bola aur isne seedha date hi plan kardi?" Anant said earning a snpmack on his head from Yug. Ignoring him Nandini looked at Yug.

" This is a very big decision for me Bhai. And I don't want to take it with just one encounter. I want to meet him again and understand him more so I can be sure of what I feel about this.", she said and Yug nodded. " Hmm fair point. I'll talk to Mom about this."

Nandini finally kicked her brothers out of her room after lots of whining from Anant and then laid on her bed thinking about everything that happened today. She didn't realise when she slipped into a deep slumber and when Kumudh came to call her for dinner, she found her sleeping peacefully hugging a pillow. Knowing she won't wake up now, she just tucked her properly and left switching off the lights but leaving a small lamp glowing near her bed.

Malhotra Mansion

At dinner table, everyone settled when Raj noticed Manik's absence. He turned to his elder son and asked, " Cabir. Did Manik tell you anything?"

Cabir shook his head. " He hasn't even come out of his room Dad. I don't know what he is thinking but I think he needs time." he said and everyone nodded.

" Look he's here. Come sit Beta." Neyonika gestured seeing Manik coming down the stairs. He settled beside his mother and started serving himself. He was about to start his meal when he sensed sharp gazes on him only to look up to everyone staring at him. He sighed knowing what everyone wanted from him.

" I want to meet her again. I can't take any decision in haste."

" Thats right. You guys should take time to know each other before deciding something. Kyun Raj?" Raj nodded at his wife and looked at Manik. " Offcourse. I'll talk to Viren about this. If they are okay with it, you both can talk and decide when to meet."

Manik smiled and nodded getting back to his food. But he didn't miss the sigh of relief that Navya took hearing him.
