The Amalomations

I walk over to the lab and knock on the door. Nobody answers but the door does open. Walking inside, I spot a note on the ground. It looks like it's from Alphys, but it's really hard to read...

Hey, thanks for all your help back there. You guys... your support really means a lot to me. But... as difficult as it is to say this... You guys alone can't magically make my own problems go away. I want to be a better person. I don't want to be afraid anymore. And for that to happen, I have to be able to face my own mistakes. I'm going to start doing that now. I want to be clear. This isn't anyone else's problem but mine. But if you don't ever hear from me again... if you want to know 'The Truth' Enter the door to the north of this note. You all at least deserve to know what I did.

And that's all. OK... but the only door north of this note is the bathroom... Unless it isn't a bathroom. I think for a second and the walk over to the now open bathroom door. But it turns out that the bathroom was an elevator. and there was only 1 button. Push it, the elevator starts to move, it stops for a second, and then it feels like it's actually falling. The flashy red lights and siren saying that the elevator lost power kinda made it obvious what's going on. Why did I notice that last? I wonder as I lay down flat on the floor (doing this will help you survive an elevator fall, did you know that?) and wait for the crash. The elevator finally hits the ground with a loud

//BANG//

I got the wind knocked out of me but other than that, I'm perfectly fine. The door opened finally and I walked out. And the place had this really uncomfortable dark atmosphere. The place was pretty dim and hard to see. There's a hallway branching off this elevator room. Walking down, there are these little tablets in the wall that light up when you walk past them. They display... some sort of journal or catalog.

ENTRY NUMBER 1

This is it... Time to do what the king asked me to do. I will create the power to free us all. I will unleash the power of the SOUL.

ENTRY NUMBER 2

The barrier is locked by SOUL power... Unfortunately, this power cannot be recreated artificially. Soul power can only be deprived from what was once living. So to create more, we'll have to use what we have now. The SOULs of monsters.

ENTRY NUMBER 3

But extracting a SOUL from a living monster would require incredible power... Besides being impractical, doing so would instantly destroy the SOUL's host. And, unlike the persistent SOULs of humans... The SOULs of most monsters disappear immediately upon death. If only I could make a monsters soul last...

ENTRY NUMBER 5

I've finally done it. Using the blueprints, I've extracted it from the humans SOULs. I believe this is what gives their SOULs the strength to persist after death. The will to keep living... the resolve to change fate. Let's call this power... 'Determination'

Those were all the tablets in the hall... But I just have one question. What kind of horror movie did I just fall into? I take the turn at the end of the hall and ,after a few steps, entered this room... there wasn't much in there. A few steps in front of me was a big door with 4 key holes. The keys are probably somewhere around here. Next to the door is a vending machine. On the other sode of the door was another one of those tablets in the wall. A few steps left of me was a Save Star. (I'm gonna need that maybe) And off to the right was a slip of paper with some writing on it. I walk over and pick it up. Must've been down her a long time, it's hard to make out all the words.

Elevator... lost power... enter the center door...

That's all I can make out. The tablet next to the wall says that the big door leads to the power room. If I can get in, maybe I can try to get power back to the elevator. Looking around the room again, there are 2 hall in the upper left and right hand corners. Best bet, the keys are somewhere down the halls... Actually yeah, no, duh Sherlock. If the keys aren't in this room, they're somewhere else. The idiot in me says. OK, I'll start with the upper left. Walking down there is a new entry to read.

ENTRY NUMBER 6

ASGORE asked everyone for monsters outside the city for monsters that have 'fallen down.' Their bodies came in today. They're still comatose... and soon, they'll all turn into dust. But what happens when I inject 'determination' into them? If their SOULs persist after they perish, then... Freedom might be closer than we all thought.

And that's it. Walking out of the hall and into a new room now, There's another tablet on the wall but next to it are some of those operation tables in hospitals and movie dramas and other stupid stuff operation tables are in. On the other end of the room are 3 sinks and next to them is a doorway leading right. (Birds eye view: up)

ENTRY NUMBER 9

Things aren't going well. None of the bodies have turned to dust, so I can't get the SOULs. I told the families that I would give the dust back for the funerals. People are starting to ask me what's happening. What do I do?

So this is where Alphys got her fear and paranoia. Geez, if I were in her... claws? Feet? Um... position? Yeah, if I were in her position, I would have the same response. I look at the operation tables and one is covered in weird goopy stuff... gross... but kinda cool. Well, now my hand is all sticky... Really should've thought this through. I walk over one of the 3 sinks to wash off my hand and... this weird white stuff comes out instead of water...It's supper thick, like when you mix corn starch with water of something. It piles up on itself until the water faucet is berried under it. It has this innocent smile on it... until it shapes itself into some sort of monster and attacks me.

Here, have a chapter! I'm gonna split this up into parts so it's easier for me write and post. Welp, see ya in the next one!
