Don't Go

Leanne POV
I slipped quietly through the camp, checking my watch.

"Schist..." I muttered. Late again. As if it wasn't bad enough. A twig snapped behind me and I whirled, pulling my sword, in lighter form, and flicking the starter backwards. It extended to it's full length.

I scanned the darkness, letting my eyes focus on different spots at random. I knew better than to call out. No one. Well, no one I could see. I turned and kept walking.

The command tent loomed in the center of the clearing. I entered without knocking.

"Something was following me. Couldn't see what." I reported to the blond behind the desk. He glanced up.

"You're late." I rolled my eyes.

"I almost got caught, so yeah, I'm late. My apologies, commander."

My voice dripped with sarcasm. He stood and rounded the desk.

"Are you okay?" I nodded slowly.
His eyes glittered with concern.

"Are you sure, Leanne?" His gaze flicked to my sword, which I realized was still out.

"Yeah. I just don't know what I heard. A twig snapped behind me when I was over near Quadrant 4."
His eyes narrowed.

"Quadrant 4? The leader for that sector been getting restless. He can smell demigods. I didn't bother reminding the idiot that his commander is a demigod."
I snickered at the annoyance in his voice.

Suddenly he stiffened.

"Luke?" I asked hesitantly.

"I need you to go on another mission." Luke turned away.

"Excuse me?" I demanded. "I just got back from that stupid camp, after nearly getting caught by none other than Jackson himself! I haven't had a chance to talk to you."

"We're talking now." Luke pointed out quietly, still not looking at me.

"Luke Castellan, you know exactly what I mean. If you give me another mission, I would leave tomorrow morning, early. We wouldn't be able to talk about our own things."

Luke rounded on me, eyes flashing.

"Are you saying you refuse?" He demanded.

"I think I am. What's wrong with you? You're acting strangely lately. Pushing me away, sending me out as soon as I get back." I stared at him, waiting for an answer.

"I'm sorry, I can't tell you. I would if I could, LeLe-"

"Don't call me that. I'm extremely angry with you right now." I took a deep breath and tried another tactic.

"C'mon Luke, give me a few days. I need to rest. And I want to hang out with you."

Luke shook his head.
"I need you to take the mission now. It's important. It could mean life or death, winning or losing." A note of urgency crept into his voice.

"No."

"What?"

"I said no, Luke. I'm not doing anything more until you tell me why you're acting like this."

Silence reigned in the tent. I crossed my arms, waiting for him to answer.

"You defy your commander?" His voice was deadly soft.

"Yes." I glared at him.

"Leanne Walsh, if you choose to go through with this, you will be demoted." There was no emotion in his statement.

I snapped.

"YOU KNOW WHAT?! I don't care anymore. You're being a jerk, and I'm done."

I ripped off the patch that signaled I was part of the army, the one on the official uniform I wore. First chance I got, I was going to burn the thing.

"What are you doing?" He demanded.

"I'm leaving."

[A/N guys, I've never been good at knowing when to start new paragraphs, so sorry if it's bothering you or something. Anyways, this is the first thing I've done on here. I'm doing it on my phone so I can't figure out how to bold or Italics. If anyone knows how, please share. Hope you enjoy, comments are appreciated. Also, I don't think I tagged this story as anything. Is there any way I can fix that? Help!]
