Conversations of A Demon and An Idiot

Leanne POV

To their credit, the demigods sat silently through my explanation.

"That's...impressive. How'd you get it under control?"

I smiled at Silena, silently asking her for permission.

She nodded slowly.

"I asked Silena for help."

Annabeth's brow furrowed. "Why Silena?"

I shrugged. "Children of Aphrodite are notorious for having charmspeak. I asked Silena if she knew if any of her siblings had it. She happened to, and helped me out."

Annabeth nodded slowly.

"What are the pros of having that up your sleeve?" The head counsellor for the Ares Cabin, Clarisse, asked.

I shrugged again. "When I let him take over, he has to obey my commands now. He's strong, inhumanly so."

"Obviously. That sword throw was pretty impressive." Percy commented.

"I have an internal clock, a mental target, and when the eidolon is in the driver's seat, that little parasite can really move."

/I prefer not being called that./

I snorted out loud.

/Did I ask you?/ He tried to surge to the front of my mind.

"Leanne?" Silena sounded worried as I felt my body go stiff.

"Go to sleep you little pest." I snarled out loud, clenching my jaw.

Slowly it subsided, growling mentally at me.

"You okay?" They were all staring at me.

I nodded, then shook my head to clear it.

"What does that mean?" Percy frowned in confusion.

"She's fine, Percy. Ever heard of the phrase 'clearing your mind?'"

"Uhh..."

We all laughed at Percy's intelligent response.

"Leanne Walsh, there is an Iris Message for you. Would you like to accept it?" A woman's voice came from a small mist forming nearby.

"One moment." I flapped my hands at the people around me. "Go behind it! You'll be able to hear and see it, but he won't see you."

"Do you know who it is, Miss Walsh?" Chiron asked.

"Most likely the Titan of boneheadedness."

Percy and the Stolls snickered.

Annabeth shooed the campers behind the message and I pulled a drachma from my pocket.

"Do you accept?" Iris asked again.

"Yes."

"Please deposit one drachma." I flipped the coin into the mist.

A familiar blond head appeared, the unfamiliar new gold irises glittering.

"Sup, Teen Titan?"

Percy shoved his fist into his mouth to stop himself from laughing.

"Leanne. Ethan told me something very interesting."

"How many lashes did you give him for failing?"

Luke's brow furrowed. I must have thrown him off.

"What?"

"He didn't tell you?"

"Didn't tell me what, Walsh?"

I mimed a feeling of hurt. "I'm offended that you would use that tone with me, Castellan."

"Leanne Walsh, tell me!"

I raised an eyebrow. "Ethan didn't kill his brother. Quite the opposite, actually. He let him go."

"What?!"

That did it. I burst out laughing. "He also got his sorry, black-clad arse kicked by yours truly."

Luke looked absolutely murderous.

"I hope he gave you my message."

"He did. I actually don't believe it."

I smirked. "You want to talk to tall, blonde and ugly? Oh wait, I'm the one talking to that."

Luke's eye twitched. "Let the eidolon out."

"Hold your horses, parasite."

"He's fighting for control is he?" Those golden eyes crinkled in amusement.

"Ah, no, I was talking to you."

Percy grabbed a pillow and stuffed his face into it. The Stolls were crying silently from laughter, holding each other up.

I closed my eyes momentarily, searching for the little monster in my mind.

/Come on out, Snarls. Remember your oath./

/Thank you, Mistress./ I almost snorted in amusement.

/Sarcastic. We might actually get along. Now give Luke a little slice of hell for me./

The creature sounded as if it would genuinely enjoy doing so as it responded, /Of course./

My eyes flew open of their own accord. "Hello, Scarface."

Luke glared. "Eidolon, you are under my orders."

My lips twitched into a smirk under the pest's control.

"Not anymore. You need to keep better tabs on those who are supposed to be in your army."

Luke growled quietly. "I want to talk to Leanne."

The eidolon considered this. "Only if she wants to."

"What?"

"Give us a moment, Commander Bozo."

My eyes closed and my personal demon turned inward.

/Would you like to take over?/

/Are you actually being polite?/

/Castellan never truly respected my kind. We were used as spies, as invaders. Nothing proper for a war. Eidolons do have a sense of pride, which may seem suprising./

I thought about this. /I'll make you a deal. You tell him off for another minute or two, but don't reveal anything of importance, and I'll get you some pride. We can get to know each other too. Maybe it'll be helpful./

The eidolon was silent for a moment. /I would be a traitor./

/You probably will never get out of me, so does it matter?/

More silence.

/Deal./

"She's allowing me the extreme pleasure of talking to you for a little while longer."

"What'd you do, threaten her?" Luke looked amused at that prospect.

"No, actually. She's hoping to glean some new insults."

Percy and the Stolls lost it, laughing out loud.

"What is going on?" Luke snarled.

I felt my body suddenly come back to my control. "You think I was in the Big House basement alone? That's cute, Luke."

"I am Kronos!"

"Not to me you aren't. Don't call again." I slashed my hand through the mist and was tackled by several laughing demigods.

"Good work, sis." Annabeth flashed me a grin.

[A/N now this is my kind of fluff chapter. Insults have been flung! Hope you enjoy]
