Chapter 9: Thanksgiving

"It's almost Christmas!!" Amelie exclaimed, holding Brendon's hand tightly, trying to keep close to him as the four of them were grocery shopping for Thanksgiving.
"Yeah it is, honey..oh jeez, stay close, Amee..I dont wanna lose you in this craziness." Brendon said, scooping her up with one arm, setting her in the shopping cart.
"Babe, what else do we need?" Dallon asked, who had Knox on his shoulders, making sure he was no where near anyone.
"Turkey, green beans, milk, eggs, paprika, and chicken stock." Brendon replied, looking through a rack of seasonings. "Dally, baby, can you go get some meat stuff and milk? I want a good sized turkey okay?"
"Okay, babe, I think I can that." Dallon said, walking off.
"Dad! What if Daddy gets lost!?" Amelie exclaimed, looking at Brendon with huge and scared eyes.
"Daddy will be fine, honey, he's a giraffe, and I made him wear a yellow sweater so I can find him." Brendon replied, checking a carton of eggs to make sure none were cracked.
"I thought it was cause he looks sexy in yellow." Amelie said, looking up at Brendon, who's eyes went wide.
"What did you just say?"
"You said that to Daddy!"
"Well don't say that you heard that, okay?" Brendon said, trying to smile a little.
"Okay, Dad."
"You must have super human hearing or something.." he muttered, then smiled as he saw Dallon walking over, handing him chicken stock.
"Knox insisted on carrying the turkey." Dallon said, motioning to Knox, who was waddling over, hugging thr turkey almost the size of him.
"Oh jeez, Dal, help the kid out some!" Brendon said, taking the turkey from Knox. "Thanks, little dude!"
"I'm strong like Daddy!" Knox exclaimed.
"Thats right!" Dallon said.
"Okay sure, but I'm smart like Dad!" Amelie said.
"Ooh how the tables turn." Brendon said, "I'm weak and smart, and you're strong and stupid."
"That's not what she meant!" Dallon laughed.
"I know, now let's finish up here..my social anxiety is hating this shit."
"BRENDON!"
"Stuff! I meant stuff!"
"You're gonna teach my kids how to cuss, I just know it."
"Dad taught us a lot of words when he babysat us!" Knox said.
"Oh did he now?" Dallon asked, looking over at Brendon.
"Yeah! He said fucking shit!"
"Fuck!" Amelie exclaimed.
"And shit!" Knox exclaimed louder.
"Brendon Boyd Urie, you're so dead." Dallon said through gritted teeth.
"You can't kill me, I'm the only one who can make food." Brendon said.
"Yeah don't be mean to Dad!" Amelie said, sitting up. "Is he being shit?"
"Amee, that's a very bad word."
"But you said it."
"And I have a very dirty mouth."
"And mind." Dallon added.
"Can you shut up for a second? Please?" Brendon said, turning back to Amelie. "Don't say that anymore.
"Okay, Dad."
"Good girl, now can we please hurry up here? I'm about to go crazy or have a panic attack."
"We're almost done anyway, and please tell me we're gonna have pie." Dallon said.
"Three different ones."
"Then I'm happy, now let's go."

--------------

"How goes it?" Dallon asked, sneaking up behind Brendon while he was cooking.
"Pro tip, don't scare someone holding a hot pan of sweet potatoes." Brendon replied, setting the pan down. "Toss me the bag of marshmallows please!"
Dallon handed them to his boyfriend, but stuffed five in his mouth.
"Dallon James Weekes." Brendon laughed, kissing him. "Those are for the food!"
"Too late, if you want them I gotta puke them up."
"You're nasty." Brendon said, rolling his eyes. "Okay, so turkey is in the oven, potatoes are done soon, bread is done..what am I forgetting?"
"Three point one four."
"What?"
"Three point one four!"
"Why are you saying numbers?"
"Pieeee!"
Brendon sighed, "you're a dork, y'know that right?"
"Yes I'm well aware." Dallon said, picking his boyfriend up, setting him on the kitchen counter.
"What're you-" Brendon began before Dallon started kissing him. He smiled, kissing back as he looped his arms around his neck.
Dallon's hands traveled up and down his boyfriend's sides, their kiss deepening. Brendon gasped a little as Dallon’s tongue slipped inside his mouth.

"Daddy? Why're you eating Dad's face?" Amelie asked, standing in front of them, looking up. The two broke away, looking back at her.
"Why're you in the kitchen and not with your brother?" Dallon asked.
"He wanted to know when dinner would he ready."
"Few more minutes, honey." Brendon replied. "Was Daddy eating my face?"
"Yeah! It was like you were an ice cream cone or something!"
Brendon put his hand over his mouth, trying to hide his laughter while Dallon blushed heavily.
"Maybe you should go back in the den with Knox, Amee." He said, motioning for her to leave.
"Okay, Daddy! Just take it easy on Dad! He's not a lollipop!"
Brendon busted up laughing, sliding off of the counter. "Whelp, at least I know we can't kiss in a Hallmark movie or something."
"It wasn't that bad."
"It felt amazing."
"Exactly."
"But from what Amelie said it looked like shit."
"Okay, you seriously have a swearing problem."
"You've said it!"
"When the kids aren't in the other room, smartass!"
"You just said a cuss word!"
"D-Dad? D-Daddy?" Knox said in a small voice, looking at both of them. "Wh-why're you yellin?"
"We weren't yelling, buddy." Brendon said, kneeling on the floor.
"A-are you g-gonna leave, Dad? Like how Mommy did?"
"Angel, I'm never leaving you, I love you and your sister so much."
"Promise?"
"Cross my heart." Brendon said, giving Knox a kiss on his forehead. "Dinner will be ready soon, bud."
"Okay, Dad, I love you."
"I love you too."
Dallon put his arms around Brendon from behind, kissing the back of his neck. "Im sorry for being loud."
"Same, I'm sorry." Brendon said, tilting his head back so he could kiss his boyfriend. "I never wanna break up or anything, you guys are my family."
"I dont want us to break up either."
"Then we don't have to." Brendon said, smiling a little. "Also the food's ready, so we can eat finally."
"What about pie?"
"Jeez, man, you and the pie! Okay I'll start making them, but you gotta get the kids' plates set up, and save me some bread, I basically live off of it."
"Trust me, I know."
Brendon smiled, getting all the things for pie out of the cabinets and fridge.

"Daaaad! Can I help?" Amelie asked, jumping up and down, pulling on Brendon's shirt.
"Okay, but then you gotta eat what I made."
"Okay, Dad."
Brendon quickly tied an apron around Amelie's tiny body, pulling over a chair so she could see over the counter.
"When are you and Daddy getting married?"
"Dont know yet."
"So you will get married?" She asked, up to her elbows in flour already.
"Also don't know yet."
"Can I be the flower girl?"
"Of course."
Amelie grinned, watching as Brendon poured pumpkin mix into a pie crust. "Can I have another sibling?"
"Um..ask Dallon." Brendon said, putting the pie in the oven, turning back to start on an apple one.
"DADDY!" Amelie shouted.
"Yes?" Dallon said, looking over into the kitchen from the dining room. "Whats wrong?"
"Are you and Brendon ever gonna have a baby?"
Dallon blinked a few times, staring at his daughter. "Wait what now?"
"I wanna have a sibling!"
"You have Knox."
"I wanna have another one!"
Dallon looked at Brendon, silently asking for help with the situation. "Um, honey..your dad and I can't really do that."
"Why not? I know how it works."
"How what works?"
"Where babies come from."
"How does she know that?" Brendon mouthed to Dallon, only getting a shrug from him.
"When two people love each other a whole lot, they have babies! And you and Daddy love each other a lot, so you can have one!"
Brendon sighed. "Babe, im about to give a biology lesson, I know you're gonna make it weird so can you just leave the room for a sec please?"
Dallon nodded, quickly leaving the room, going to go talk to Knox.

After a few minutes, Amelie came back, sitting down in her chair in silence.
"So, how did the lesson go?" Dallon asked as Brendon sat next to him.
"It went good!"
"Yeah, but I can't have a sibling." Amelie said.
"I explained that there are other ways, honey, just we haven't talked about it at all." Brendon said. "Now let's eat okay?"
"Yeah! I'm hungry!" Knox exclaimed, grabbing a turkey leg.
"Happy Thanksgiving, baby." Dallon said.
"Happy turkey day."
"You're such a dork."
"No, you are, now can I please eat the food I made?"
"Thank you for cooking, and yeah." Dallon said, looking over at his family, smiling. "Yknow, I don't care if Amelie says weird stuff, or Knox is clingy and keeps stealing all the turkey right now..im just glad I have a great family."
"Thats really cheesy, but sweet. Im glad I have a great family now too." Brendon said. "And Knox, save some turkey for me, bud!"
