Chapter 2

"Hey," Jeremiah says behind me as I finish putting my books in my bag.

It's the end of the day and it's finally time to go home. Normally I have volleyball practice but they cancelled it due to the heavy rain outside.

"Hey." I say shyly, the room isn't yet empty and just by his tone, I know he's leaning on the desk behind me waiting for me to look at him.

"Do you need a ride home?"

I usually take the school bus home, but sometimes Jeremiah will take me home if we both are free. With my volleyball practice and his basketball practice, we usually aren't ever able to.

"If you wouldn't mind." I tell him as I stand up from my desk. Just him and I are the last of the students in the classroom room.

"Good, I wasn't going to take no as an answer anyway." He takes my hand and leads us out the door and towards his car.

"So, how was your day?" I look up to him as we walk through the halls and he just sighs.

I nod my head and look down, it was one of those days.

"Well, can you guess who approached me today?" I asked him and he just hummed as a response.

"Harmony."

That name immediately got his attention, he looks down to me and his eyes got serious. "what did she say to you?"

"Nothing."

"Yes she did Annabelle," he starts. "What did she say?"

"Well, she just started telling me that you texted her last night."

"Last night?" He asks. "The night I spent the whole time at your place?"

"Yeah." I sigh. I want to believe Jeremiah but it just all seems too good to be true with him. How does one of the most popular boys of the whole school want to date me? The best thing about me is that I'm pretty good at volleyball.

The alarm of his car rings as he unlocks his door. I get in on my side and he gets in.

"You shouldn't believe what she tells you. You know I'm all you and only you."

"Yeah I know," I look down at his rested arm and place my hand on it. "I just wanted to let you know that she came up to me."

"I know." He turns on his car and his wipers. We both put on our seatbelts and he looks at me. "She means nothing to me. Nothing compared to who I have next to me right now."

"Anna." I hear very faintly but thinking it was just my imagination, I try to fall back asleep. Alas , I hear it again. "Anna"

I open my eyes and I see a dark figure in my room, sitting up quickly I make my eyes adjust to the darkness to see who's in my room. "Justin?"

"I'm glad you're not sleeping. Get up."

"What why?" I ask. Was something wrong?

"No time for questions." He says, and starts to walk towards my closet. He opens up my closet and starts to look for something. He ends up pulling out a shirt and some pants- all while it's almost pitch black in my room.

"Here put these on." He throws at me and i just look at him. "Why?"

"I said no questions, now let's go."

Sighing extra loud, I reluctantly get out of my bed and put on the clothes he gave me over the clothes I was sleeping in. Thank god he picked sweats and a long sleeve. Not like I have much else in my closet.

I walk over to the same closet and pick some of my shoes from the bottom. Putting them on, I'm starting to get really conscious of Justin's stares at me. "Can you tell me why you woke me up at 3am for no reason?"

Silence. He just continues to stare at me, a slight smirk on his face and his hood over his head.

"Can you at least tell me when you made me get dressed?"

He seems to slightly snap out of what he was thinking about and looks into my eyes. "I wanted to take you somewhere, Anna."

"My name is Annabelle."

"That's what I said, now follow me but be quiet."

He quickly turns around before he saw me nod my head in agreement. We both slyly slip out of my room and he makes sure to close the door as quiet as possible and make our way to the stairs.

We eventually make it to the front door and he skillfully opens it with no noise, and continues to do the same to close it. Now that we are finally outside, I see that the sun is slowly starting to rise and the bruises on Justin's face looks much worse than yesterday.

"Can you tell me now where we're going and what we're doing."

"I could...." he longs out, "orrrrr I could let you keep wondering."

"Now why would you do that?" I ask behind him, following him to wherever he's going. Although I know he can't see me, I cross my arms like a little kid.

I hear him chuckle slightly and takes a slight look back to me. "No need to pout, it's just more fun for me if I keep you waiting."

"It's not for me. I don't even know you."

"Well," he starts, opening up the passenger side of a car for me. "You will eventually."

He then closes the door and walks over to the driver side. Wow, that was different. Jeremiah has never opened a car door for me, let alone a regular door.

He slides into the driver seat and presses the start button on his car. It immediately starts up but he just sits there to let it warm up for a second.

Due to my conversation with Justin, I didn't really get a good luck at his car on the outside but from the inside, it's a very expensive car.

"You like what you see?" He says, snapping me out of my thought process and I just roll my eyes.

"It's a nice car, I'll give you that."

"Thanks, my dad bought it." He puts the car into reverse and looks back as he backs out of the long driveway.

He eventually fully backs out, and he puts his car into drive and then speeds down the road to who knows where.

I just turn my head to look out the window as we drive. The sun is a little more out than it was when I woke up and it's peaceful. For Las Vegas, they have really nice scenery here.

"What are you thinking about?" Justin asks, and I just shrug my shoulders, not looking at him. Since he's driving, I doubt he saw me do that.

"Well since we will be driving for a while, let's play 21 questions."

This now grabs my attention and it makes me look at him. "Oh no no sir." I start, "I know where 21 questions lead to."

"He smirks and looks at me, "where does it lead, Anna?"

"Annabelle, and guys always like to ask really personal questions."

"And what are personal questions?" He glances at the road and then back to me.

"You know... personal things."

He laughs. "So that means you want to play?"

"I guess," I sigh. What do I have to lose? I can get to know him.

Even though this whole situation is really weird and probably not normal, I feel a sort of connection to Justin. Not a weird stalkery one, but more of a spiritual connection.

It's like when you meet that one person in school and as soon as you see them, you know you guys are going to be friends and when you guys talk to each other, you guys find out that you're basically the same person.

With Justin, i also feel safe. Was is very smart getting in a car with a stranger? Not really, but I don't feel as though I should be frightened by him.

"Alright me first," Justin says. "Are you a virgin?"

"JUSTIN!" I slightly exclaim and hit the side of his shoulder. "Those are the personal questions I was talking about."

"Yes or no."

"I don't think I have to answer that question."

"Yes you do," he says. "Answer it and then I'll answer it too."

"Okay... yeah I'm a virgin."

"Oh cool, me too."

"Really?" I ask, astonished. I'm definitely not going to inflate whatever ego Justin has, but he's not that bad looking. Surely he's gotten laid by now.

"No." He laughs, "I haven't been since I like was 13."

Of course.

"Okay.. How old are you?" I ask.

"19. What about you?"

I'm glad he's looking at the road right now because my response to what he said shouldn't have been that extreme.

He's 19??

"I just turned 15,"

"Oh yikes." He quietly says to himself but I catch it.

"I'm sorry?" I ask and he just awkwardly coughs.

"You look much older, but it's all good. I've never been with someone who was younger than me." He looks at me and winks.

"Again, I don't know you."

"All you need to know is my name."

"Anywayyy," i prolong, trying to think of a question to recover from this. "What's your favorite color?"

"I don't have one. If I did, it probably would be purple or something. Have you ever smoked?"

"No. I don't do those kinds of things. Do you?"

"I do" he says and nods his head. "Can I tell you a secret?"

"Sure." I say.

That's weird. I don't even know this guy and he already wants to tell me a secret.

"Well..." he says while turning a corner. I focus on the street and it looks really familiar for some reason. "We aren't actually going anywhere, I just wanted to talk to you."

As he finishes that sentence, I see him turn into the driveway of the house.

He... Did he really just do that?

"Wait a minute," I start.  "You woke me up, made me get dressed, IN THE DARK, just to talk to me?"

"Oops?" He just shrugs his shoulders and turns off the car. He unbuckles his seatbelt, walks out of the car, and just walks inside. Leaving me there by myself, thinking.

What the hell am I going to do with him?
