Chapter 1

Entering a whole new state, I have become increasingly sad with leaving my friends and everything I've ever known. We started our long drive in the outskirts of Flagstaff, Arizona and now four hours later, we are entering the city limits of Las Vegas, Nevada.

In Las Vegas, Jeremy, I've come to learn, owns one of the fancy hotels that a lot of tourists go to, hence the money. My mom also told me more about his kids like: he has a son named Justin whose eighteen, and a daughter named Jazmyn whose eight. Seeing as how I'm only sixteen, I don't think I'll be making friends with any of his kids.

During our long car ride, my mom decided to give me a speech on how I "can't try any funny business with Justin". She told me that he likes to get at a lot of girls and I have to stay away from him. She said something about it it'll ruin Jeremy and her chances of being together, or something along those lines.

I completely ignore everything she is saying because I didn't plan on even looking his way. I didn't even want to be here, why would I want to mess with Jeremy's son? What my mom doesn't know, is that I don't plan on being with anyone for a long time.

Going into my sophomore year this upcoming school year, I'm going to have to start fresh. I'm going to be away from everyone I've grown up with. On the good side of moving though, I will also be getting away from the drama that surrounded me.

During my freshman year of high school, I went out with this one guy named Jeremiah. He was a girl's dream; he had a cute smile, nice white teeth, a tall build, slim but scattered muscles in places, he was funny, and most of all, he was smart. The one thing that I don't know that came with him was girl drama.

Every girl swore they were going out with him and that he found them attractive. He told me that he only ever talked to the girls because his friends thought it made them cooler. Of course, I believed him but one day, Harmony, a girl that kept telling me to back off my boyfriend, sent me screenshots of her and Jeremiah 'sexting'.

He denied it and told me that's not him and being the freshman I was, I believed him. I kept seeing him and the death threats were still happening from random girls saying to 'back off'. It eventually got to the point where I had to break up with Jeremiah because a group of girls jumped me on my way home.

He promised it wouldn't happen again and that he will set the record straight that only him and I were together. Very skeptical, I believed him anyway.

Turns out, his way of setting the record straight was to post a picture of us together on his Instagram story. Not as a post, but on the story.

"In one mile, take exit 45a and turn onto west Craig road." my mom's GPS announces.

"I can't believe we're almost there," she smiles. "you'll love it here."

"and what if I don't? And how do you even know I'll like it?" I sass. "have you even seen the house?"

"as a matter of fact, yes I have," she says. "he's sent me pictures of it."

"Ohh so you don't actually know if he's faking it or not."

"He's not."

And with that being the end of our conversation, I turn my head out the window to see hundreds of very nice houses come into view. Compared to our town, one that I thought was nice, ours house looked like a ruined pig-stye.

After another ten minutes or so, we make a right on this short road into a glossy brick driveway. There are two cars already parked further up the driveway, probably Jeremy's and Justin's car.

"Is this the wrong address?" I turn to my mom and she just has a big smile on her face.

"Nope, this is the place." she says and I now see why she likes this man. Maybe he's old and shes just with him for his money- unlikely though.

"Hey Siri? call baby." my mom says out loud and her phone picks it up.

"Calling 'baby red heart'"

The phone rings for maybe a total of five rings before the phone was answered. "You're here?"

"Check outside." was all my mom said before she hung up the phone. We park the car into the driveway and my mom jumps out as fast as she can, forgetting her keys in the car in the process.

I grab them for her and get out as well, locking the door in the process. I go towards the trunk to get my two boxes out when my mom calls me from her side of the car. "don't worry about those," she said. "I'll have Jeremy get them later."

Sighing, I oblige my moms wishes and walk with her to the front door. Instead of knocking, she just enters. "I basically know this place
like the back of my hand." I quickly roll my eyes at my mom for her enthusiasm and bluntness.

When entering the house, saying it was beautiful was an understatement. When you first walk into the house, you are treated with fIve ways to go; to the immediate right, to the immediate left, to the slight left, to the slight right, and straight ahead. From what I can see from here, the immediate left was a piano room and the immediate right looked like a living room, but smaller.

My mom walks into the straight doorway, in which we were then greeted with the living room and the kitchen. Everything in the house so far was a warm brown color with white accents. With this house, it went good with it.

"Welcome!" I hear, what I guess to be, Jeremy's voice boom from the other side of us and he comes out of a doorway that was located on the side of the kitchen. My mom walks up to him and they hug for what seems like hours, me just awkwardly waiting beside them as they began to kiss each other.

I slightly cough and look away, getting their attention. "Oh you must be Annabelle. I'm Jeremy." he brings me into a hug and I just awkwardly stand there, again, not really knowing what to do.

"Sorry my kids aren't here right now." he says, "I made Justin take Jazmyn to her friends house. It just seems he never does anything with her anymore."

"I'm sure he does hunny, he's just older. He likes to be by himself sometimes." My mom disagrees with Jeremy and he nods at her statement.

"Yeah you're probably right. Here, let me show you to your room."

Walking behind Jeremy through the endless hallway and up some stairs, I take the time to notice all the things throughout the house. On most of the walls, there's family portraits of Jeremy, Justin, and Jazmyn. Some where cute photos, some where professional, and some looked like school portraits.

We get to the top of the stairs and there's three doors and another hallway. He takes me to the last door before the hallway and stops in front of it. "Well kiddo, this one is yours. The first one is my daughters, and the one next to you is my son's."

I nod my head to what he was saying, even though I know he can't see what I'm doing. He opens up the door to a pretty nice sized room. The size of the room isn't what intrigued me though, it was the way the room looked. It looked so futuristic.

Jeremy turns back to look at my face and notices my slight confusion. "If you don't like the furniture, we could always exchange it for you. But I'm going to go get the boxes you guys brought while you make yourself at home. I hope this suffices."

"Thank you." I say, and he gives a slight nod and leaves the room, closing the door. I stand in the same spot taking in all this room has to offer.

As soon as you walk in, the first that I noticed was that there was a hallway at the other side of the room, probably leading to some closet space and a bathroom. Nice, my own bathroom.

The bed looked like a rock as well as the pillows on top of it, which doesn't look very comfortable at all. There are many light accents around the room, and a makeup vanity just in front of the bed.

Other than the hard looking bed, this isn't a bad room. I could get used to this.

"Knock knock" Jeremy says on the other side of my closed door. It's a little weird he didn't just knock but I open the door for him, seeing that he couldn't knock. He comes into the room and set down two boxes that I packed a few days ago. "Here you go, I'm going to let you get settled and we'll come and get you when your mom finishes up dinner for tonight."

"Thanks, again." I tell him and he leaves the room without another word.

I pick up my backpack I came in with and pull out my speaker, I connect it and set it down on my dresser next to the door and start to unpack my things.

After two consecutive hours of unpacking, I finally get to the end. One of the things at the bottom of a box was my LED lights and my sheets. Since this bed is actually bigger than my last one the sheets are practically useless. The LED light, however, would probably go really well into my bathroom since that's the only place that doesn't already have accent lighting. I take my led lights and do my first take down the hallway and into my bathroom.

The bathroom did not disappoint, and it almost looked as stunning as my actual bedroom. The thing that caught me off guard the most was how clean it was.

As soon as you walk into the bathroom, you are immediately greeted with a huge jacuzzi style bathtub. To the right of that was a walk in shower with clear doors all the way around. And to the left, was the big counter and mirror that sort of resembled those at a fancy hotel. The shower looks like the perfect place for my LED's. Good thing I bought the water proof ones.

I walk back into my room and get my double sided tape and walk back into the bathroom.

And after much work, it had finally been finished and I couldn't have been more happier. Going back to my main room, I finally take a dreaded seat on the hard looking bed.

And to my upmost surprise, it wasn't uncomfortable at all. It was on the hard side, sure, but I could definitely sleep like this.

Looking up, I notice that's there's a mirror on the ceiling. Great, now I can have front row tickets to each of my crying episodes.

"So you're Anna." I hear someone say and I immediately turn my head to the door frame.

A guy with a black eye and a black hoodie on is standing there, leaning on my door frame.

Ah, Justin.

"Actually," I say, sitting up on the bed. "It's Annabelle."
