Yesterday was very calm, despite Doyoung having a small welcome party like Taeyong was gone for half a year. He invited some of their friends and had a little dinner together that Doyoung cooked. Taeyong very much appreciated it and thanked his boyfriend for it. He enjoyed it, even though he's bothered.
Doyoung couldn't let him go though. He kept on cuddling and kissing him, and it wasn't bothering Taeyong. A very clingy Doyoung is a once-in-a-blue-moon thing anyway.
He even wants Taeyong to leave work for a day for him. But the boy just had to decline.
"As much as I want to, I can't leave work for too long now. I've been gone for a week anyway," the boy uttered, dressing himself up for work.
"But you weren't with me for that whole week," Doyoung talked back, frowning, while sitting on the edge of his boyfriend's bed.
Taeyong chuckled then placed his hands on his waist, "What? You're being sulky now?"
The man didn't respond. Although they were both dressed, the boy tackled him on bed which made Doyoung being the one whining. Taeyong was hugging him tightly then makes a deal with him that he'll be the one paying for their date this weekend. Being a sucker, the man wanted it so he said yes and immediately is in a happy mood.
After that, Taeyong dragged Doyoung to drive him to work and they shortly arrived. They bid to each other before the boy stepped out of the vehicle. He walked into the building and greeted the receptionist.
"Good to see you again, Mr. Lee. How was the team building?" he asked.
Taeyong chuckled while he writes his name on the clipboard, "Suffering but it was fun."
"I see..."
Then the boy became curious, "Has...Mr. Jung came in now?"
The receptionist was about to answer but he looked at the man beside the boy who just arrived, "Oh, good morning, Mr. Jung. Mr. Lee's looking for you."
The boy looked beside him, surprised, and saw Jaehyun who is in a good mood. He suddenly felt refreshed seeing him in a suit again.
But hearing the receptionist, Jaehyun felt playful. He chuckled as he looked back at Taeyong, "Ah, really? You are looking for me for...?"
Taeyong felt embarrassed but he just shook his head, sheepishly smiling, "I-I was just curious."
Jaehyun nodded, "Okay. Well, good that you're already here. We'll have a quick meeting."
"Ah, by the way, Mr. Jung, your mother will be back for the anniversary party next month."
The man just smiled, although he wasn't very much happy to hear the news of his mother coming back from America. He hasn't talked to her and if he does have the chance, he'll definitely know the truth from her.
"Let's go."
The boy nodded, walking with the man towards the elevator. Both of them gets in and Taeyong voluntarily pressed the button for Jaehyun. They stood quietly beside each other, waiting for the door to open. They weren't in the same uncomfortable situation anymore, it was warmer. Although, Taeyong was still embarrassed from what happened a while ago.
"What time is the meeting...Mr. Jung?" Taeyong asked, hesitant if he should call him by name or surname.
Jaehyun checked his watch, "An hour away from now. I'll have to get everyone called."
"I'll have the meeting prepared then," the boy said.
"I'll have someone else do it."
"It's fine, if I'll do it instead."
The man raised an eyebrow at him, playfully, "Why? Don't you have other things to do?"
"Well, I'm almost done. I thought I'll be leaving so I tried to finish them as soon as I can."
Jaehyun hummed, "Are you sure you want me to terminate your resignation?"
The boy chuckled, putting his hands on his waist, "Do you want me to leave?"
"Of course not. If I could really convince you not to and kneel infront of you, I would, Mr. Lee."
Taeyong rolled his eyes, denying that his heart fluttered at his words, "Just throw it away."
Jaehyun smiled, "We'll have a small party then."
The boy was taken aback, "What? You don't have to!"
"My treat since the best employee is staying."
"Eh?! Seriously?"
"Of course," the man uttered, nodding, "This means everything to me so I'm very happy you cancelled your leave. I promise to be a better boss."
Taeyong chuckled awkwardly, "What are you talking about? You weren't a bad instructor to begin with."
Jaehyun shrugged, "Lie about it, I know why you wanted to leave. Whatever I said to you when I was mad, it meant nothing."
"Don't worry about it..."
They smiled at each other for a second before they heard the cue that they are at the right floor. Taeyong snapped out first. He walked out of the lift but turned to look back at Jaehyun.
"I'll see you later."
Jaehyun nodded, "I expect you to be there then."
Their stomachs were filled with butterflies and their hearts were beating at a constant pace. Their hands were just a few centimeters away from holding onto each other, but they stopped the urge to do so. For Jaehyun, it was for respect and for Taeyong, it was to stop himself from hurting someone. They were close, but too far.
Although, it felt nice just being around each other.
The day went pretty fast. After this month, they'll be busy for the company's anniversary party. Taeyong doesn't really attend those. He would rather use his time to relax and have his own day, shopping to be specific. And of course, he'll do it again. Also, it's one of the busiest months in his calendar so he better treat himself for it.
Collecting his things, Taeyong was ready to go home for the day. He grabbed his bag and left this office, bidding byes to the others who planned to have their overtime shift. He made his way towards the elevator and surprisingly saw Jaehyun already getting out of the company at an early hour. Taeyong smiled as he went into the lift, standing beside the CEO.
"You're early today, Mr. Jung."
"Ah, no, I can't go home yet. I'm actually on my way to a business meeting. I was about to tell you that I can't treat you today because of it," Jaehyun uttered.
Taeyong chuckled, "It's fine. You don't have to do it."
The man looked back at him, "I'm a man of my word so if I said it, I'll do it."
"You're still this stubborn, huh?"
Jaehyun crossed his arms and smirked, "Hey, it's a peace offering."
"Peace offering--what is this?!"
The man laughed, "Just, y'know...I still feel guilty--"
Suddenly, Taeyong slapped his arm which caught Jaehyun's attention who jolted, "Stop it," pointing at the man with his pointer finger.
The man furrowed his eyebrows, "Stop what?"
"Being guilty! It's in the past, it's no big deal."
"But you cried."
"Who--Who said that? No, I didn't."
"You cried, Taeyong."
"I didn't!"
Jaehyun worryingly looked at him which caused Taeyong to roll his eyes.
"Maybe I did, but you don't have to feel bad about it," the boy said, "Really."
"I'll still make it up to you."
Taeyong chuckled, "Fine. I won't fight with you about it."
Both of them left the lift, still talking and laughing at their words. They were having a good conversation, after a decade and a misunderstanding. They looked like two co-workers who became close because of the team building, well, they are but they went back to how they treated each other back then.
They missed this.
They actually lost track of time, spent a few minutes just having a casual talk to catch up with everything. It seemed like they were the only people on earth tonight. And as much as they don't want to finish it, someone was actually already waiting for Taeyong who watched them.
"Taeyong."
The boy looked back and saw Doyoung by the car who called his attention before he went to look back at Jaehyun, "I got to go."
"Yeah, sure. Have a good night."
Taeyong smiled and nodded, "You too, Jae. Have a safe trip."
Jaehyun smiled back, "Of course," he then looked at Doyoung and nodded at him, "Good evening, Mr. Kim."
"Good evening. We'll be taking our leave," Doyoung uttered.
"Drive safely then."
Doyoung nodded before they left.
