Chapter 11
Jongho groaned and threw his head to the back, his lower body feeling relieved yet as if it wasn't even there. It felt so good to just lay there on the spot and relax.
He had been training hard for the football competition that was to take place the following month and his legs were giving out on him. The amount of time he had been running was astronomical and the practices were intense.
He wanted to pass out but he held strong and kept going. He was determined to be one of the best players on his team.
"Choi! This is no time to be resting!" His Coach barked, "Do you want to play this season or not?! I'm sure you do, so get your ass here and act like it!"
Jongho sighed before picking himself up from the ground and heading onto the field to continue running while pulling tires. His only motivation during the entire process was to practice hard enough so time would go by and he would get to call Yeosang.
He had started calling the older every other day and he liked that part of his routine the best. He had been very happy to find out that Yeosang had passed his test and the male had even shed a tear and profusely thanked the younger. He had been crying in joy so much that Jongho didn’t have the guts to tell the male it was his birthday that day but he didn’t care. His birthday present was seeing Yeosang happy and that’s all he needed.
And even though their calls were all through the screen, Yeosang still had to take a break and look somewhere else every now and then before he passed out on the call. If that had happened, Jongho wouldn't have known who to call and so he hoped that it would never come to the point that Yeosang would pass out while they chatted.
Jongho practiced hard and before he knew it, it was time to head back to his dorm so he could take a shower and call Yeosang before heading to sleep. He was glad his practice time began at a time where he could do homework prior before going into ruthless training. It gave him much more motivation for everything that way and he was glad.
The reason Jongho was practicing so hard was for the sole reason that his school was going up against Yeosang's school. He doubted the older male even knew anything about sports so he never mentioned it.
The main reason for practicing was that if Jongho managed to do well in the game, Yeosang would most likely hear about it and he would feel pride to know that he had been recognized by the elder even if it was just a little bit.
"Alright! You hooligans look like you're about to drop!" the coach yelled, catching everyone's attention. "You can go back to be sure to come to practice tomorrow!"
Everyone nodded and scrambled off without another word, only groaning once they were far enough.
Most of the guys stayed to complain or chat with each other but not Jongho, he had much more important business and that was to talk to the older male.
"Hey! Jongho! Wanna get a drink together?" one of the players, he recalled his name was Yeonjun, asked.
"No thanks. I have something to do. Maybe next time?"
Not waiting for an answer, Jongho used his last remaining energy to run to his dorm room and take a rapid shower. He ignored the smirk Seonghwa had on his face when he entered and in minutes, he was seated on his soft bed calling the older.
"Hi," Yeosang answered, his eyes half-closed and head drooping.
"Oh my, you should sleep," Jongho said with concern. "We can call another time. Just sleep okay? Maybe tomorrow."
Yeosang dumbly nodded and before he could even hit the end button, his eyes closed and Jongho sat staring at the older a little longer, examining his pretty features.
Between the time Yeosang had first called and now, his hair was almost fully brown again and Jongho wondered when he would dye it again. He examined his pretty lashes and cute lips before screenshotting the older and hanging up.
He'd simply have to call another time but he didn't mind. At least he had seen the male and his heart warmed at the thought that he had stayed awake just for the call and since they got to see each other for a few seconds, he allowed himself to sleep with peace.
"You like him so damn much, it's almost disgusting," Seonghwa commented with a smile. "Not even I acted like that when I first met Hongjoong yet here you are looking like you could drip affection and love as you walk."
Jongho rolled his eyes and put his laptop to the side, getting comfortable in bed to sleep.
"Good night, Hwa."
"Night night, Hoe."
Jongho glared at the male before laughing a bit and drifting off to sleep with thoughts of Yeosang on his mind.
._._.
"Would you like to join the cheer squad? You're pretty enough to join," a random girl asked Yeosang as he made his way to Biology class.
"What the fuck? I’m sorry but I don't do anything with sports."
"But if you join you can stay on the ground and just be middle front and do hand movements. We would allow that since we believe you’d have the visuals to do it."
"As I said before, what the fuck? I don’t have the slightest idea on how cheer even works so I suggest you find someone that does," Yeosang responded, unsure of why these girls wanted to recruit him.
"No, no, the thing here is that we want YOU. You're prettier than most females in this place and you'd look good in our outfit."
Yeosang was amused. These girls were nutcases.
"And what do I get out of this? I'm a science student for crying out loud. I'm hardly surviving with my classes yet I'm supposed to join a cheer squad? That’s mad."
"But we only want you for one season. It's because we're going up against the rival university and we want to have the prettiest and most organized team. We have to beat the other one," the girl tried persuading.
"Nah. I'll pass," Yeosang answered, not even giving the suggestion a second thought.
"Well if you change your mind, just come find us and we'll set you up. But don't forget, the game is in two weeks and you'll have to learn the hand movements and steps."
"Yeah, yeah."
Yeosang sped away, not bothering to hear more. He had no intentions of joining so why bother pretending to be interested?
As he walked, he felt more stares on him and he wondered why. He hadn't done anything and he didn't have anything on his face. So why the looks.
He didn't find out until three days later as he walked along the hallway to exit the university building. He had plans that evening and he wanted to get them done quickly. Unfortunately, he was stopped before he could even exit the place.
"Hey, Kang Yeosang, right?" a tall male, called out, making Yeosang turn to look at him.
He identified him as his dorm neighbours roommate and even though they had spoken to each other on various occasions, they didn't know each other that well besides through Yunho who both of them were close with. Except the tall male was closer to Yunho than he was.
"Ah, yes. Mingi right?"
"Yup. Well anyway, everyone knows that the cheer squad wants to recruit you as one of their cheerleaders and so the football team just wants to give you one of these so you're aware if you decide to join," Mingi said, handing over a flyer based on the rival school.
Yeosang tucked it into his bag so he could probably read later and simply nodded.
"Alright, well thank you but I gotta go now."
"Oh before you leave, if you decide to join and someone, even if they're on the opposing team, wants to laugh at you, let us know and we'll deal with them. The football team appreciates the cheerleaders and we don't want bastards flirting or saying anything mean to any of them."
Yeosang simply nodded again and thanked Mingi once again before dashing off to his vehicle.
His plans lasted nearly an hour and by the end of it, Yeosang rocked brand new blue hair. He thought it made him look extra pretty and he made sure that he wouldn't faint when he looked at himself. Jongho wouldn't be there to steady him and he didn't want anyone else touching him.
Paying for his new hair, Yeosang walked out and the moment he hit the outside world, he felt numerous stares directed at him. He knew he was pretty but why so many stares? He wasn't even at the university anymore so these stares were for other reasons.
"Hey, you have a girlfriend?" some random girl asked, walking up to him with a 'seductive' look.
"No."
"Would you maybe wanna go on a date?" She asked, feeling confident of herself getting a chance grow.
"Nah, I’ll pass."
"Oh but I can make you feel good. I promise you won't regret it."
"Like I said, I’ll pass so kindly fuck off," Yeosang snapped with a bitter smile.
What was her problem? He didn’t wanna go on a date and that was final. Besides, he had a whole ass Jongho that he wanted to focus on getting, not some random girl he had never even seen before.
"Oh you'll be missing out on a lot," she purred.
"Can you shut up before I get my boyfriend to snap your skull?" Yeosang asked with irritation. "I don't want to go on a date, got it?"
The girl seemed taken back by the news of him having a boyfriend and glared at him before stalking off bitterly.
Yeosnag felt pride in him to refer to Jongho as his boyfriend even though he hadn't even had any type of confession. He really wanted to confess but he would have to wait for a later date.
The male stopped to buy some things for his dorm before he suddenly remembered he planned on at least looking at the flyer Mingi had given him about the rivalling team. Driving home as quickly and carefully as possible, he lugged his grocery bags into his dorm and settled down to read the flyer after dumping everything on the floor.
Yeosang quickly looked at the paper, not caring what it was and was about to throw it away when he noticed a face among the players.
"Is that Jongho?!" Yeosang asked himself, bringing the paper closer to his face. "The fuck? He never told me he played on a team!"
Yeosang placed the paper on his desk and dashed out his room, running to the room next door and knocking until someone answered. He needed answers immediately.
