Recognizing Stars
Maria stood in front of the big building, probably twice the size of her own castle. It scared her, she wasn't used to this. But she put on a smile and faced it head on. She fixed her yellow dress, and straightened her midnight blue bow. She put on a confident front and walked across the courtyard.
Chapter 1
Recognizing Stars
After classes, Maria took her own tour around the place. She was humming a song and swung her school bag forward and backwards. She was trying to get used to such a new world. For someone who was used to public schools, this was a drastic change. "I'd like to make myself believe, that planet earth turns slowly, it's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep, cause everything is never as it seems... when I fall asleep." She sang such a sweet tune that the teachers didn't mind when they heard it echo throughout the halls. She then twirled around, her messenger bag dancing as her partner.
Maria was half Japanese and half French, she came from France just a few weeks ago. She wanted to see the world. Or maybe she just wanted a new beginning. At least that's what she'd say. Maria continued to waltz through the halls, when the windows caught her attention. She paused and looked through it. "Don't worry mom! I'll make you proud!" She grinned her toothy grin. She twirled around and began to sing again. "You would not believe your eyes, if ten million fireflies, lit up the world as I fell asleep." Her voice was like a bird chirping in the mornings, but it was better than that. It was like your mother singing you a bedtime story. Something you can relax to.
She closed her eyes and twirled again. She giggled and sang again. "'Cause they fill the open air! And leave teardrops everywhere~ You'd think me rude but I would just stand and, stare." She paused for a moment, looked at the window again. "I'd like to make myself believe that planet earth turns slowly... It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep, 'cause everything is never as it seems." She smiled, remembering. No one is as they seemed, and she knew this. Even the world is never as it seems. Such lyrics opened her to a new pathway.
"Mommy?" A blonde boy asked, looking over at a black haired male. They sat on a couch, in the third Music Room.
"Yes, daddy?" He asked, scribbling math notes in his black notebook.
"Do you hear that?" Daddy asked, causing mommy to pause.
"'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs, from ten thousand lightning bugs!" A voice filled their silence. It was beautiful. It was a melody that made them at peace.
"... Yes, I do." The blackette spoke, straightening his glasses. The blonde boy perked up at the answer.
"We should look for the source." The blonde grabbed the boy's hand and dragged him towards the big twin doors, painted an elegant pink. He opened one of the doors and peeked through the crack.
"A sock hop beneath my bed. A disco ball is just hanging by a thread~" There was the voice again.
"Tamaki, I don-" Tamaki shushed the taller boy and crept out the door. The boy sighed and followed him. The two walked down the hall, Tamaki acting like some spy. He hid behind the furnish and dove behind pillars. The black haired boy just followed, walking normally down the middle of the halls. The singing grew louder.
Maria leaned both elbows on the window sill, watching a blue and yellow bird bounce back and forth on a sakura tree branch. "To ten million fireflies, I'm weird cause I hate goodbyes. I got misty eyes as they said farewell.." Maria smiled sadly. She watched the bird fly away with soft eyes.
The two boys watched behind a pillar. Tamaki's eyes shined brightly. "She's..." He couldn't finish the sentence. He watched her continue the song.
"But I'll know where several are, if my dreams get real bizarre. 'Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar." She grinned and stood straight. She looked down at her watch. "Ren should be waiting by now." Even her causal tone was melody. She turned her back towards the boys and picked up her messenger bag. She twirled, her dress twirling with her. She hummed and walked away, disappearing out the corner.
"Kyoya?" Tamaki asked, looking over at the black haired boy.
"Yes, Tamaki?" Kyoya asked, turning towards Tamaki.
"Do you think she'll like me?" Tamaki questioned, looking at Kyoya.
Kyoya gave Tamaki a look. "What? Every girl likes you, the Host Club king." Kyoya spoke.
"But she seems too elegant for me." Tamaki wondered.
