The Beginning

Ares city, the only futuristic city in the world with extraterrestial, cosmic citizens to be exact, and humans living in harmony. Cosmic citizens, contributes a lot on earth, terminal illness would be cured 90% percent most times by the Ghax, anti-gravity buildings and some advance tech thanks to the Rex.

But what good of an alien-tech if you don't you use it for entertainment such as video games, virtual reality video games to be exact, right?

Toca Tobias, the owner of TocaTokyo, the Japanese themed restaurant with arcades and karaoke bar, that's where the soulpadres love to hangout. He was with his friends, Brett, a short guy, messy brown mane, medium built wearing bold square specs and Crol, a young adult male cosmic, average height, purple skin with big forearms, they in a small glowwave room with two seats that looked like comfy theater chairs.

"Just gonna fix some few bugs and it'll be ready for business," said Brett. "Thanks again for investing, Toca."

"No problem, man," Toca said back. "It's gonna be stellar, so aside from the bug, what's left to do?"

"We will test it out first."

"Why test something that will work?" Crol asked sounding confident since Rex are known to be very techy.

"We have to be sure that it will work fine and that it's safe for humans at least and... also for the other cosmic citizens. Remember, safety first."

"Bear with him, Crol, Brett is just... observant," Toca reasoned seeing that Crol was getting a bit annoyed at his business partner's OC at things.

"Understood," Crol sighed.

"We can't be too sure that nothing will go wrong," Brett was starting to freak.

"Dude, chill," Toca told him. "Seriously, what could go wrong?"

"What could go wrong?" Brett repeatedly panted then got closer to Toca wih crazy eyes. "What could go wrong?!"

"Uhmm... You know what, just take it as rhetorical, you don't have to answer it."

"Anything can go wrong, like getting Void for starters."

"It's not gonna get Void."

"It could get Void."

"What's Void?" Crol quipped looking puzzled.

"Urban legend. This guy and his partner also tried to open a VR park in this very place yeeeaaarsss ago, his name is Ved Void."

"What happened?"

Toca cringed "something went wrong but it was different back then."

"Like what?"

"Shhh... don't say it or else, you'll jinx it," Brett interrupted while holding the three-inch length blue uni-spec with white frame and no strap goggles before Toca was going to tell it to the Rex. "Come on, let's just test this baby out. Here, Toca, try it out with me."

"Sure."

"I don't want to do this alone and Crol, you go to the controlling room."

"Copy," Crol respond then ran to the room, he turned on the screen where he can see Brett and Toca wearing their goggles and sat on the leather seats. "Computers are on, what do you want to do first?"

"Uhmm... let's try, Oh! Donkey Kong."

"Alrighty, Donkey Kong it is," Crol started pressing buttons. "There."

"Sit back and relax.".

Through the goggles, Toca and Brett were inside the game itself and were facing the ramp "Oh! my God," the two impressed at how real everything was, they looked at themselves like their hands and feet, it was all there.

"I don't feel my skin," Toca noticed.

"Yeah, we're inside our heads, which means we can't feel physical pain when we're here," Brett explained.

"Nice."

"Come on, the game is starting." Barrels began rolling at them "jump!" Brett told him and they did. "Now run."

"This is so fun."

They got to level three more levels and kept playing, Brett kept dodging the barrels while Toca was climbing a ladder to get to the other ramp and trying to avoid what the gorilla was throwing at him "I'm here," Toca heard a muffled voice.

"Where?" Toca stopped and looked over to Brett but he was still down in the first ramp. "Huh?"

"Huh?" Brett got distracted as well but the barrel got to him.

"OOoo! sorry," but Toca was knocked after.

Both were out of the game and got back to the real world then took off their goggles "are you two okay? what happened there?" Crol came in to check on them.

"I don't know, I heard him saying 'I'm here'."

"What? No I didn't," Brett said and looked at Toca in a weird way.

"Yes, you did, I heard you."

"No way. AHH... Must be a glitch," Brett thought then ran out the room. "I knew it, let's check it out in the control room."

Crol huffed and shook his head "hey, if you think this is bad, back in high school, we used to work in a sub shop and he got crazy when the hams, cheese and bread weren't in the same size."

They all were staring at the screen in the control room and watched the last part but Brett was staring at it more carefully by putting his head closer to it, they were waiting to hear that mysterious voice "where is it?" Brett groaned.

"It's somewhere there."

"SHHH..."

"Just sayi..."

"SHHH..."

"We can just rewind..."

"Okay. now SHHH..."

They heard a little static but no voice ."What was that?" Crol asked.

Brett played it again and the strange noise was there again "great..." Toca exasperated. "It only appeared at the exact time when I heard something."

"Either way, it could be something to look at," Brett said. "There shouldn't be any static noise in there. Oh! I should make a list. Let's go home, I'm kinda tired after avoiding all those barrels."

"How can you be tired since there's nothing to physically feel anything?"

"I mean mentally, you still have to your mind strength to, you know, be aware of things, now come on."

Was it a glitch or ghost?
