Chapter 1

That night in Archie's house, he caught his deceased grandaughter, Perdita, she died in a car crash with their father, Apollo, yet she decided to stay as a spirit to be with her surviving sister Perfida whom she now possessed. "Perdita!" he gasped once he barged inside Perfida's room to confront Perdita.

"You know it's me?" Perdita stuttered.

"The reflection," he pointed at the mirror because even though Perdita was inside Perfida, the mirror showed otherwise. "Didn't you promise to never possess anyone especially your sister?"

Perdita felt lousy but then she feel her skin in her hands or at least her sister's hands "this is the first time I feel my hands since I died".

"Perfida's hands, Purdey, not yours."

"You know what I mean."

Archie took a deep breath so that he won't explode. "I get it but I'm sorry, this is not right, you can't do this."

"I know but..."

"But nothing, now get out from there," Archie pleaded.

"Please, don't tell Perfida."

Archie glared at her for a moment, "fine," he huffed. "As long as you don't do it again."

"I promise," Perdita then laid down on the bed and got out from Perfida's body, Perfida's was still asleep from all that.

Archie was worried that she walked up to Perfida while Perdita was at the foot of her  bed also looking concerned at what she did "she's out like a log," he said. "Don't ever do that again" after that walked out the room.

"Yes, Papoli," Perdita sulked and glanced at her hands missing the feeling of physical touch.

----------

The next morning, the family were having breakfast, a very quiet breakfast, and it wasn't because Berta was not there yet. Perfida was eating her waffles while Archie and Perdita were staring at her after what happened "is there something on my face?" Perfida asked covering her mouth once she noticed that her grandfather and her twin sister's eyes were towards her.

"No, Peach," Archie stammered. "Ahem... do you remember what happened last night?"

Perdita gulped that Archie was going to tell on her after she begged him not to, Perfida was puzzled from his question "remember what?" she asked. Archie was studying her for a second "What is it?"

"I was going to the kitchen until I saw that you were..." Archie muttered, Perdita was feeling tense. "Sleeptalking?"

"Sleeptalking?" Perfida was surprised and Perdita sighed in relief. "No, I don't remember because... I was asleep. What did I say?"

"I'm... I'm not sure, I couldn't make out a word in any of them," he lied.

"Weird," Perfida chuckled.

"Yeah," Archie choked then looked down to his food, Perdita maybe safe yet the lie was starting to eat her up.

"Now that I completed my volunteer work for my college credit and our recommendation letters are sent straight to the school's admin, I am again finally going to enjoy my summer."

"I am glad that you took care of it early."

"Without Hector's help, no surprise there," Perdita scorned.

"It's fine, Purdey,

"Perdita. Stop," Archie called her out. "You call him dad, he's your stepfather."

"Why? it's not like he can hear me."

"Do not badmouth him or..." he signalled Perdita that he was going to squael at what she did to Perfida and so it got her to shut up.

"What's going on?" Perfida was used to Perdita talking shade about their stepfather though she has a good relationship with him but seeing Archie scolding her sister was unusual. "Are you two arguing?"

The two stopped and turned to Perfida "It's nothing, Peach. As I was saying, I was thinking, why don't we travel somewhere?"

The kids were elated to hear it "really? where?" Perfida asked.

"A friend of mine invited me to stay in his resort in Thoto."

"Yes," Perfida exclaimed.

"Okay then, I'll let him know that we're going," he then stood up and called his friend.

Perfida turned to her sister "what's up with Papoli?" she whispered.

"What do you mean?" Perdita asked acting coy.

"You don't see it? he doesn't usually... discipline... like that."

"Uhm... beats me," Perdita shrugged. "Maybe it's nothing."

------------

That was a week ago and Perfida did not worry much about her grandfather's behaviour since then, she was in the police station to meet with Hawkes, he was the one teaching her about her third-eye and other paranormal occurance that was happening, "I have something for you," he said to her while digging something in his drawer.

"What is it?" she asked.

Hawkes took out two small velvet box and handed it to her "see it for yourself."

Perfida opened the one of the box, there was a thin two-inches circular glass stone, there was an ancient alphabet that spelled Ares in it with a silver-colored ribbon that has a pin at the back "a medal?"

"Not just any other medal, it's a bravery medal."

"A bravery medal? I heard about this from my dad, Hector, one day, he said it's an award for anybody who saves anyone in need."

"That's correct."

"But why are you giving me this? because I helped a couple of lost souls go into the light?"

"No," he chuckled. "This award is too important for that especially in Ares city, this is for saving Ms. Marsa Goldi."

"Wait, what? I got an award for that?"

"Yes, the Ares city hospital staff vouched for you on this."

"Seriously? wow!!" Perfida was in disbelief. "This is so stellar."

"Let me be the first to say, Congratulations."

"Wait, why do I get two?"

"That one is for Vance because he saved you from Joney."

"Oh! my crapolai, thanks," she stammered. "This will go great for my... oh..."

"What?"

"I was thinking of putting this in my college application but I remember my Stepdad could see it and start asking questions."

"I know, that's why I gave it to you in private, usually these things will go to the press with the Prime Minister."

"Yeah," she cringed. "Thanks, you really think ahead."

"Anyway, I have another mission to go to, It's kinda big so I can't be around much to help you," Hawkes called from his office.

"So I should stay out from ghosts then?" Perfida chuckled.

"More like try to deal with them without me, you know good and well, they attract to you like magnet."

"So far, Roland was the only one that approached me and Keira was a chance encounter."

"Right but you have to prepare and if I were you, chose your battles."

"What's that suppose to mean?"

"Just know who you're helping, I don't want you gun down or anything like what Joney did," he advised, Perfida just nodded at him.

Zev then came to Hawkes' office "Captain, we need to go," he notified him.

"Thank you, Sergeant," Hawkes then turned to Perfida and head to the door. "I should go."

"You too."

"Hm?" Hawkes glanced to her.

"Don't get gun down."

"Never," he smirked and left.

Perfida left the police station moments later and stared at the box "know who you're helping he said. Sure, that's easy," she snickered.

--------

"Oh wow, that is stellar," March said once Perfida showed it to him including Vance and Leyo in Artcore.

"Here's yours, Vance, you got one too," she handed the box to him.

"No way," Vance was stunned and opened it too.

"It's for saving me from Mrs. Krof so thanks again for that."

"Thanks," he gave Perfida a hug. "Wait til my parents sees this."

"Uhm... about that, I'm not telling mine."

"Why?"

"Well, you know, the ghost thing."

"Oh! right," Vance remembered that Perfida's psychic ability was secret to her parents.

"I'm sorry," she apologized feeling bad that Vance had to do some sacrificing too even though he did something good.

"It's cool, I get it."

"Thanks, Vance."

Nyles, the owner of the store, Artcore, came from his office, "great, everyone is here, thanks for coming."

"Of course, so what's up?" Perfida asked. "Why'd you want us here?"

"To give you this," Nyles took out a small card. "A ten-thousand arcs AresMart giftcard, each, for helping me with the exhibit."

The soulpadre's mouths were dropped on the floor "oh! my Crapolai," Perfida gasped. "Ten-thousand ars!?"

"Yeah, Verona gave a very generous donation and I thought, I might as well give some of them to you guys."

"Quite generous," Vance was stumped.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" March expressed.

"That's not the best part," Nyles added.

"There's more," he turned on his phone and showed them an article. "The exhibit got to AresDaily and guess who got feature."

The soulpadres were wide-eyed "ARESDAILY!!!" they exclaimed.

"What? Let me see that". Perfida grabbed Nyles' phone to take a closer look, they saw there was a big bold group picture of them. "It's in the hot topic."

"Oh! wow! really?" March took her phone from her hand. "Never been in a hot topic in anything. First, we got the best jobs then an award and now it got to the hot topic, this is officially the best summer ever". Perfida never felt this sense of pride before and it was fulfilling to feel.

-------

It was the opposite towards Perdita back in Archie's house, she stood in front of the mirror the whole day by the living room, saddened that she couldn't see herself, feel the touch of her skin and everthing else again, she enjoyed that five minutes of being living person by taking over Perfida's body even though she knew that it must not happen ever then Bryce, the twin's eight-year-old half-brother, saw her "what are you doing there, Purdey?" he asked. "You know you can't see yourself in the mirror."

"I know, Bryce," Purdey sulked, Archie came in from the back with his English Mastiff dog, Harrison, and caught his grandson talking to Perdita. "I wish I can sometimes."

"Why?"

"Because I wanna see what I look like."

"Don't worry, you're very pretty like Peachy," Bryce told her to brighten her mood, Archie smiled at that since he was listening.

Perdita was glad to hear that "you think so?"

"Yeah, and you can walk through walls, and not get tired, and you're also good at playing hide-and-seek."

"Thanks, Bryce, I feel much better now, come on, let's just watch TV."

"Okay, come on," Bryce raced her to the couch, Archie felt pitied Perdita, he knew that all she ever wanted in her life was to have a life like her twin sister yet her actions were still wrong.

--------

Meanwhile in the VR park, Brett was testing out the other simulation game, Tekken, he was fighting one of the big built guys since there was no physical pain to experience how it actually hurts to get punch by such physique. "I can do this all day," Brett snickered.

"Of course you can, if this is real life, you'd be knocked out with just one punch or less," Crol replied.

"Haha very funny."

"Remember, if you lose this, it's my turn," Crol reminded him, he was inside the control room to make sure everything goes right.

"If I lose you say."

"Yes," the Rex groaned. Brett was keeping his head on the game, pounding and kicking the big guy, Crol kept on observing things then he saw Brett was starting to glitch. "I think you need to get out from there."

"Yeah, I think something is wrong," Brett noticed it too. "Did you record it?"

"Yes."

"Are you sure?" Brett took off the VR goggles and head to the control room.

"Yes, it's recorded."

"Good, we have to take every single note of any flaws we get."

"You don't have to tell me twice," then he mumbled. "Or... more than a thousand and six."

"I heard that," Brett scowled at him, Crol was embarrassed. "Now where's the glitch?"

"Here," Crol showed him the clip of where it happened and it in the middle of Brett fighting.

"That's how I fight?" Brett cringed. "Yup, it's there, let's see what's going on" he then went to another computer and started to check what was wrong with the programming. "That's weird."

"What do you see?"

"Nothing comes up, everything is clean."

"Very strange."

"I don't understand, where is it coming from then?"
