Chapter 16
"I'm kinda worried, should we get in there," March said to the little Livo waiting for the their friends to text them or come back from that mysterious passage way.
"Let's not fret first, I'm sure they're fine," Leyo said back.
"Yeah... you're right," then he sat on the ground. "Let's think of something else then."
"Like what?" the little Livo also sat in front of him.
"Hmm... be honest with me, I'm better looking than Vance's boyfriend, right? I mean I am more muscular, taller and I have nice hair."
"Yes, you are the better looking one."
"Really, you think so?"
"Of course, you know I can't lie although I can keep a secret."
"That's true."
"If he doesn't see that, it'll be his loss not yours."
"Thanks, Leyo."

Back in the passage way, The twins, Vance and Lexi mouths were dropped because they could not believe were seeing, it was like they were in an underworld that are in ruins that home carved out of the rocks. The kids were on the highest floor and so they looked down over a ledge that there were hundreds more levels. "Oh my crapolai," Perfida gasped. "This place is like... something that came out from a fantasy game."
"More like inspired from," Vance was just as stumped. "This is stellar, it's a lost city. Sad that March and Leyo are missing this."
"I lived in Thoto for so long and there's a lost city underneath it?" Lexi said in disbelief.
"Well, now you know," Perdita said back in a blunt way.
"First settlers from long time ago must've lived here before," Vance said.
"This is stellar but let's worry about finding about a way," Perfida reminded.
"Don't be such a party pooper, we still have time," he somehow looked up the above the doorway and saw a writing in the walls and it was not in roman alphabet style. "Look at that," he showed it to her. "That must be their scripts or something."
"Yeah, it could be," Perfida then took a picture at it in her phone. "Let's research about it later when we get out of here."
"Mome on, let's explore first it while we're here," he grabbed her arm and pulled her to a stair, the two ghost girls followed.
"Wow! this is steep, don't you think?" Perfida struggled to go down the rocky, wide-length stairs with Vance as they were like climbing down a mountain instead with big steps and there were ten steps, the scary part about it was there was no safety barriers for them to hold on to.
"Tell me about it."
"Who lived here? Very very tall people?"
"Or very very physically fit people?"
"Either way, this is very very scary," Perfida added. Afterward, they saw were a lot of chambers to get into. "Stellar, I hope we don't need to go out the same way we get in here because that was tiring."
"Agree."
"Let's check out... Room number four," Vance took her hands again and dragged to one of the chambers. They all got inside, the space was big with four rooms inside, there were furnitures made of hard wood that were covered in dirt and there were stone-aged kitchen style. "Wow! Look at this place."
"Yeah, It's like someone's home," Perfida looked stunned.
"That's because it is. They must be from million years ago. It seems big, which means rich people lived here. I wonder why no one lived here anymore?"
"Maybe they realized that they needed more sunlight and air."
"You think?"
"It is kinda claustrophobic here and I don't want to sound prissy but I think I need a facemask and rubber gloves," Perfida felt grossed out as she went in with Vance.
"Still... aren't you stoked that we're in an ancient lost city?"
"It is pretty stellar."
"That remind me, let's take lots of picture."
"Oh! yeah."
They got out and took some photos of the whole view from where they were standing and then had a selfie as well. "Let's check out more," Vance insisted.
"Sure," Perfida agreed. "Okay, my turn, let's see room number.... ten."
The kids ran to it, Perfida got there first but once she got inside, her foot caught on something that she tripped and fall. "Peach! You alright?" Vance gasped.
"Yeah... I think," the girl moaned in pain, she was getting up yet once she pushed herself up from the floor that was when she got a good look on what she stumbled on or at least 'who'. Perfida screamed as she rushed up back up her feet.
"Shiiitt!" Vance reacted, Perdita and Lexi were aghasted when they saw it.
Apparently, there was a dead body that seem cemented that they could not tell a gender, there was barely a face except an open mouth, it was lying in a supine position. "What do you think happened to him... or her?" Perfida stuttered.
"He... it looked... stoned," he got a closer. "Maybe... this person is not the only one. After that, Vance ran out.
"Wait, where are you going? Don't leave me here with... that," Perfida went after him.
They went to the next chamber and saw four more people in the same condition as the first one, two tall ones and the other two were shorter lying on the ground in different positions. "This... looks like a family," Vance gulped.
Perfida looked at her hands and took a deep breath, she touched the walls and did some concentrating. "Maybe I can see what happened here."
"What is she doing?" Lexi asked Perdita while they watched her.
"She gets this vision when touching stuff," the ghost twin explained.
"Vision? How does that even work?"
"I have no clue, all she does is just put her hand into anything and something comes up."
In the vision, Perfida got flashes of visions, it was too fast, she heard rumbling, the people screaming and running away, they rushed inside their home to hide from whatever danger they were facing. After that, there were smoke coming from the two doorways, she could also see that these particular family were hiding in their homes but that smog got to them, that was when the vision ended and Perfida got back to reality. "A black smoke killed them," she agaped.
"It did?" Vance replied then he looked at the hardened corpse. "Poor family, can't imagine the scare they were having."
"Yeah, but... if it wasn't for this vision, we wouldn't know our way out of here, it's doorway over there," she pointed at the opposite side from where they were.
"Okay, enough exploring for now. Lead the way". They passed more chambers and saw more of those bodies that made their spine shivers. When they got nearer to the exit, they heard footsteps and voices. "Do you hear that?" Vance whispered as he stopped Perfida. "I think someone is coming."
The spirits took a peak and saw men wearing masks and they have guns. "They don't look friendly" Lexi muttered.
Perdita looked at her sister, "you guys should hide."
"My sister said we should hide," Perfida informed, Vance just nodded in response. They rushed to the nearest chamber and was surprised to see that there were filled with wooden crates, "hey, what are these?".
But those men's voices and foots steps were getting louder. "Let's not worry about it. Quick, let's hide under that bed," Vance said.
The kids were able to went in there because those strange men came in just in time before they could see them. For some reason, the space inside was so cramped as they were lying on their stomach and that was when they saw a stoned hand between them so as horrified and grossed out they felt, they had to hold it in so that those men wouldn't know they were there. "Stay quiet," Perdita told her sister.
Perfida signalled Vance to shush, the two ghosts girls were watching them bringing in a trolley. The men began talking, "they just need five boxes," said one man.
"Okay, let's take three first then go back with the other two," the other said back.
The kids waited for a bit and saw them lift one box after the other then pulled the trolley out. Perdita followed them to make sure that they were really gone then hurried to her sister, "it's okay now, get out from there," she informed.
"Perdita said that the coast is clear, let's bolt," Perfida said to Vance then looked at the dead hand again. 'Uhm... thanks for letting us hide here."
The crawled out under the old bed and patted the dirt off from their clothes and ran out. "We can't go out there now, they'll see us," Vance huffed then they started heading their way to where they got in. "Let's just figure our way out from that hole."
"Hopefully, March and Leyo found a way out."
All of a sudden, one the man returned and saw them. "HEY!" he shouted.
"Uh oh!" the kids choked and began running away without turning around to see the goon's face.
"HEY! GET BACK HERE!" he chased them but then he stumbled over a crack and roared in pain.
"Thank goodness," Perfida sighed in relief.
Unfortunately, the man took out his gun instead and started shooting lasers. The two managed to dodge it yet perfida screamed because it nearly got them. "Stay low," Vance told her so they bent down and kept moving fast to their only way out.
The thug kept firing at them however he kept missing. Perfida and Vance got to the big block stairs, they had a hard time going down earlier so what more going up?
"What's going on?" the other goon came.
"Intruder!" the first guy pointed at the kids.
"Shit! keep shooting, I'll get them," he raced towards them but the two were still climbing up and dodging the lasers at the same time.
"We have to hurry," Vance nervously said when he saw the other thug was running fast.
"It be easier if that one is not shooting at us," Perfida replied and she was behind him. They were finally at the top and dashed to the dark tunnel, they didn't care that they couldn't see anything, they just wanted to get away from there. "I think we lost them."
"Let's not stop running yet."
Unexpectedly, the two bumped into someone that they all dropped to the ground, the light from their phones lit up to see who it was, "March?" Perfida saw his face who was in pain from being knocked out.
"Leyo?" Vance his brow raised, he and Perfida got off from them. "March? what the heck are you guys doing here?"
"Wow, nice to see that you're okay," March grunted as he felt the hurt on his side once he stood up with Leyo. "We got worried so we wanted to see if you guys are alright but..."
"But... WE NEED TO GO!!" Perfida exclaimed.
"Why?"
"YOU'RE NOT GONNA GET OUT ALIVE!" the thug's voice echoed inside the passage.
"That's why?" Vance pointed out to them. "GO! RUUUN!!"
The Soulpadres began running the other way. "Who is that guy? what did you two do? that we have to get away from him?" March asked.
"We'll explain everything later but believe me, we didn't do anything," Perfida answered.
"If you two didn't do anything then we can stop and just talked to him," Leyo suggested.
"NO! let's just say he's not the talking type," Vance explained.
"How can you tell?"
Lasers were blasting once more but good thing it missed them. "Does that answer your question?" Vance showed Leyo his reason.
"Sorry, I asked."
"Is it just me or this actually is longer than I remembered?" Perfida quipped.
They got out from that dark passageway, the kids were very exhausted from what felt like a marathon but there was not time to rest because they have to get out of there alive. "Now what?" March asked.
"Let's try to do the pyramid thing again. Perfida, you go first," Vance answered. "Come on, hurry."
Perdita and Lexi watched them intensely hoping that they would make it, Perfida was about to get on March's shoulder but another laser was fired that it nearly got her face. "You're dead when I get my hand on you!" they heard the man's voice echoed again inside.
"He's coming..." Leyo whimpered. The kids just stood there frozen in fear that the bad guy somehow cornered them.
