Chapter 12

The Sweeney family were asleep in their rooms but all of sudden, mists entered through the vents, travelling around and slowly thickens until zero visibility. A white cloak entity appeared staring at Perfida while she was still dozing off, its hand reached her head that she began squirming.

Inside Perfida's head. First, all she saw was a forest, Perfida was confuse as to how she got there. A smog came blinding her sight of it that it completely all she could see was a white empty space. "Hello?" she called out, she looked around to see if there was anyone in that strange world. "Where the hell am I? Hello? Anyone? Hello...?"

"We only protect the forest..." a husky voice spoke that it spooked Perfida because she did not see who was talking to her, there was no sign of a person.

"Uhm... hello?" she was feeling frightened that all she could hear was a voice inside an unknown place. "What do you want from me?"

"We only protect our home."

"Okay, this is so weird..." Perfida turned around and the entity was there that rattled her until it yelped her to wake up. However. A bread was shoved to her mouth.

"Hah! beat you to it!" Archie exclaimed, he, Harrison and Bryce were sitting around the coffee table eating a room service breakfast next to the couch where his granddaughter was sleeping.

"Yay! it work," Perdita laughed along with her little brother at that little prank her grandfather did to her twin.

Perfida spat the bread out to her hand. "Work what? and why do did you jabbed this to my mouth, Papoli?"

"We have to hear you scream in the morning and today, I guess, our body learned to wake up before you did plus I don't want to hear scream and other guests have been complaining so I thought of a way to stop that."

"Oh! okay," Perfida then started eating the bread.

"So judging by that consecutive screaming, you have a premonition."

"That's correct, I think it's about the Wagans."

"The spirits that takes people?"

"Yes, them."

"Did they say something?" Perdita asked.

"I remember, it said something about... they... only protect the forest and... their home," Perfida recalled.

"Well... that is not very terrifying at all," Archie worried. "Hmm... maybe we can find those temple guardians to... I don't know bless you for protections and all that, I'll pay whatever..."

"I think it only happens if I'm in the forbidden forest," Perfida said.

"Doesn't matter, I'm finding one anyway."

Later, the twins waited for their friends in the lobby then she saw Leyo and Vance came. "Hey, where's March?" she asked.

Vance gave her this confused expression in his face. "I thought he's with you," he replied.

"What? where is he?"

"Oh no, you don't think the Wagans took him, do you?"

"Let's not go there yet just so you want to find out about them and me just dreamt about them last night."

"You dreamt about the Wagans?" Vance gasped in excitement. "That's so cool."

"No, it's not," Perfida argued. "The only spirit we're dealing here is Lexi's not Wagans."

"I'm being serious."

"Me too."

"What if he is?"

"How? they live in this forbidden forest and we're nowhere near a forest."

"Come on, can't you at least consider of the possiblity?"

"NO!"

"Why not?"

"Because my grandpa... told me so."

"If something happened to March because of the Wagans, it's on you," Vance playfully warned.

"Yeah, sure, whatever," Perfida exasperated.

"Uhm... guys..." Leyo interrupted because he saw March so he pointed at him for them, They were in wide-eyed in disbelief because they saw him with Gussie being all buddy buddy, they were wearing workout clothes and covered in sweats.

"Oh! my crapolai, does my specs deceive me or am I seeing March and Gussie talking?"

"No, I see it too," Vance confirmed.

"Same," Perdita said who was just as shock. "Hah! told you that it's not the Wagans!"

"I knew that."

March saw his friends and waved at them with a big smile on his face. "I'll need to check on my staff for a bit," Gussie told him. "I'll be back."

"Okay, see yah," March replied then he went to his friends. "Hey, guys!"

"Hi..." Perfida, Vance and Leyo greeted back as they gave this look of doubt at what March was doing with Gussie.

"Dude, where have you been?" Vance asked him.

"We were jogging."

"What?!" Perfida exclaimed.

"I know, him? and him? together?" Vance was still trying to wrap his head that these two were really in fact with each other.

"No, I mean, you can still move from all that skirring yesterday, I feel so sore today. Sorry but I am aware of the gravity of the situation so let's continue with that."

"At least he didn't take March to the forbidden forest," Perdita said.

"Yup, he was with me," March answered while pretending not to be awkward.

"With him? seriously?" Leyo questioned bluntly, Vance swung a bit of punch on his shoulder.

"What's the matter? you said we need to get along with him to help him and... here it is."

"Sorry, we're just surprise," Perfida explained her thoughts on their reaction. "We didn't know that... you were working on it... right under our noses. Oh! Vance here, thought you were taken by the Wagans."

"The heck?" March looked at Vance in a weird way.

"What? I was worried, okay? and... wait, enough about me, when are you and him a thing anyway?" Vance quipped.

"It's kinda of a long story, it happened last night," March got bashful. "My dad called, he said some 'things' that I don't want to hear after he called, I cried, Gussie saw me, we argued a little then we realized we both we have daddy issues and he bought me a drink and then we end up... talking and apparently we have some things in common". The twins, Vance and Leyo were frozen from being confounded from his story.

"And now you two are running together, maybe he likes you..." Vance had a slight hesitation in his voice.

"It's not like that, he's as straight as the AGA satellite pole but we do have some things in common."

"You could've at least wake me up and told me that you were running with me because I thought you were taken by the Wagans, I got scared."

"You... got scared? for... me?" March was amazed by that that the guy he liked was concerned for him yet he had to change to his manly side. "I mean... you sissy boy, can't believe you thought I was taken."

"Shut up," Vance scoffed.

"Either way, it's really good because if he trusts you so in results, he can trust all of us," Perfida said in glee.

"Okay, chill, let's not assume that," Vance said to her.

"Still, Perfida is right, Gussie is not as bad as we think," March claimed.

"Well, yeah, I mean years of being hated made him a tool," Perfida replied.

----

Gussie was about to get inside. "Son?" his father called him in with soft tone.

"Dad?" he got flustered seeing Ram somehow it became a reflex. "Do you need anything?"

"No, no, not really, I... want to give you this," Ram took out a cheque, he even had a smile on his face which made Gussie uncomfortable.

"For what?" Gussie asked and looked at him in a weird way.

"The restaurant you're opening."

Gussie saw the amount his father was giving him. "That's a lot of money, dad. I can't accept this."

"Why not? is it not enough?"

"No, I have some savings lying around and... I have work to do..."

"I insist, you won't have to leave so you can just focus on opening the restaurant," Ram said.

"I see now," Gussie mumbled, he had an idea why his father offered him money. "Thanks, dad but I'm good."

"I... want to make it easier for you and your business."

"Dad... stop it. What do you want?"

"I just want to help so you won't have to leave."

"But I want to leave..." Gussie snapped, Ram agaped from his son's response. "Dad... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to raise my voice at you."

"It's alright, son," Ram's voice cracked trying to hold back that he was actually hurt from that then he turned his back from him. "I'll just leave you... to start working now."

"Dad, I'm not... exactly... leaving you, you know I'll be back once I'm done."

Ram glanced over to his boy and gave him a small smile. "Of course," he replied then continued walking away while Gussie stared at him with pity before going inside.

----

Back in the lobby, the Soulpadres were gathering by the lounging area. "At least one problem is solved, almost, but now what should we do today?" Perfida asked.

"We can talk about that dream of yours," Vance suggested.

"You're not gonna let this go, aren't you?"

"Nope."

"Dreams? what dreams?" March quipped.

"Perfida had a dream about the Wagans," Leyo answered.

"You dreamt about the Wagans? Sounds scary so what is it?".

"Not you too," Perfida whined that March shared Vance's interest of knowing these spirits.

"Oh! come on, it'll be fun," Vance pleaded. "And we'll do it after we deal with Lexi but since Gussie is busy today, let's you know do a little... sluething."

"Yeah, let's do the less drama ghost this time," March said.

"Yes," Leyo agreed.

"Ugh... I'm not drama," Lexi scoffed after hearing the gang talking about her, Perdita gave her this expression that what her sister and her friends are right. "Okay, maybe I am a tad drama."

"Gaah... fine," Perfida sighed. "Okay... I keep seeing a forest."

"Aaand?" Vance was so eager to hear more along with the other two.

"And then a mist."

"Mist?" Lexi mumbled like she was recalling something.

"After that the Wagans would just pop out either in front of me or behind me that it freaked me out to wake up," Perfida added.

"Hmm... interesting, interesting," Vance contemplated as he listened. "Forest, huh? Maybe they are showing you the forbidden forest."

"I kinda figured that out so what are you thinking?"

"Well... let's go to there."

"But we don't know where it is? and I'm not sure if we should ask the locals about it?"

"You're right."

At the back the two ghosts girls were listening at the Soulpadres conversation. "I take it this ghost stuff is not your first rodeo?" Lexi asked.

"Yup," Perdita confirmed.

"You guys are weird."

"Your choice of boyfriend is weird".

"Lexi is with us, right?" Vance quipped to surviving twin. "I can feel this energy other than Perdita."

"Yes, she's bickering with my sister right now, why?" Perfida answered.

"Can you ask her where she... you know?"

"Okay. Hey, Lexi," Perfida started talking to her but then she felt uncomfortable asking her the place she died. "Where did you... you know?"

"It's in the north part of the island, a five minute walk from Tedyke town," Lexi replied.

"She said that it's in the north part of the island and five minutes walk from a town call Tedyke," Perfida informed her friends.

"Well then, let's book a RodeVan to this Tedyke," Vance told them.

"They're not seriously gonna go there, are they?" Lexi asked Perdita.

"They are seriously going there," Perdita giggled.

The kids went back to the lobby and walked into Archie with Bryce and Harrison. "Hey, Papoli, were gonna go out and find out more about the Wagans," Perfida said to her grandfather.

"I knew it, alright, just be back before dinner," Archie allowed it. "If you need me, I'm gonna be in the casinos with Bryce."

"Okay, Papoli, good luck winning."

"Thanks, Peachy, and becareful."

"Did your grandfather just allowed her to go to the forbidden forest? This is unbelievable," Lexi sighed.

"Yeah, isn't he stellar?" Perdita respond with a grin.

"See you, later, Peachy, Purdy," Bryce said to his two older half-sisters.

"You too, Bryce."

"Did... did he just...? can he see us too?" Lexi noticed that the eight-year-old could talk to spirits just like Perfida.

"Yes, yes he can," Perdita nodded.

"What the actual fuck?!"
