Chapter 9

Lucy's POV

  I feel so happy that i got to shout and yell at Sabertooth's face not too long ago, but now i'm kinda regretting it. Apparently, the whole guild are looking at me like i've grown two heads or something. Seriously awkward..

  "Ummm, sorry..?" I hesitatingly said as i rubbed a finger on my cheek in embarrassment. We were now on our corner of the arena. And currently, my guildmates has been giving me weird looks. Can't blame them though.

  "Lucy, what y-you did there... it was.. i c-can't.. that w-was.. you were.. i m-mean." Mavis. Even Master is speechless!

  "Oh, God. I'm s-so sorry! I did-"

  "Quit apologizing, will you?" A new voice said, cutting me off. Suddenly, i felt a sudden weight on my shoulders. Glancing up, i saw Natsu, who had draped his arm around me, towering beside me. A proud grin on his face.

  "Bu-"

  "What you did back there was awesome! I still can't believe that my partner with a heart of gold can actually scream and threaten someone that's almost double her size!" Natsu exclaimed excitedly which made my jaw dropped. Was this guy for real?!

  "Wha-"

  "I agree with Flamebrain! That was freaking cool, Lucy! I didn't knew you had it in you!" Gray's sudden outburst made me flinch in shock when he appeared unannounced just beside me.

  "Hell yeah, bunny girl. You just earned my respect because of that." It was Gajeel's turn to pop out from nowhere. Seriously, what is wrong with this guys?

  "Are you guys for real?" I asked in disbelief and looked at them weirdly.

  "You gotta admit, Lucy. That was quite a show. And i might say, i'm very proud of you. You didn't just stood up for yourself and for your spirits, you also fought for the name of our guild." Erza suddenly said which made me blush. The rest of the guild yelled their share of agreement and approval.

  "She's right, they're right. This only shows that your truly dedicated and loyal to the guild. Fairy Tail is so lucky to have you." First Master, Mavis, joined in which made me blush even more. I'm not used to the compliments and attention their giving me. But i can't help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside. They're proud of me. I just hope they would still be that way even after they discover the truth.

  "Thanks, guys. Your the best." My words were simple and short but the grin on my face tells how glad and happy i'am.

  "Of course, we are. To tell you the truth, i never knew you were capable of doing that. I always thought of you as my sweet, troublesome, innocent and selfless bestfriend. But never once i imagined you to be that feisty and brave. Seriously, am i starting to rub in on you?" I heard Natsu asked, still not removing his arm around my shoulder. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow before stepping on his foot, hard. I don't know why but i somehow feel offended by his words.

  "Awe! Aahh! Ouch! T-That hurts!" Natsu exclaimed while jumping around with one foot which made him look like a complete idiot.

  "Tch. Serves you and your ego right." I hissed which made my guildmates laugh.

  The pumpkin head announced not so long ago that the first event for today will start in less than 10 minutes. He said that the details of the event is yet to be revealed which made me anxious and nervous.

  I fished out my lacrima phone inorder to ease my nervousness only to see that i have a message. It was from Yukino. With a raised eyebrow, i analyzed it.

  She's asking me to meet her outside of Domus Flau to further discuss our plans. Wait, are we even allowed to leave the arena?

  "Hey, Erza. Is there by any chance we can leave the Arena even if the games are taking place?" The red head raised an eyebrow at me before placing a finger on her chin as if thinking.

  "I guess so. Maybe after they announce the participants for each guild. Why?"

  "Well, since i'm not participating on this event, i was hoping if i could return back to the inn and rest. I feel dizzy and my stomach is aching. I think i'm sick." I lied smoothly. I even coughed, not forcefully though. Just natural to not seem suspicious. She seemed hesitant, she even touched my forehead to assure that i was telling the truth. Just to make my act convincing, i increased my body temperature using a spell. Not too hot, just enough to convince them that i have a fever or that i'm sick.

  "You do seem hot. Maybe it is best for you to go and rest. But about the battles round later. You need to be here. We are not certain if your going to fight or not. Your presence is needed. That would give you about 2 hours to rest. I'll have Natsu fetch you later. Is that alright?"

  "I could come and take care of you, Lucy." I tensed up hearing Natsu's offer. On normal occasion, i would instantly agree but not today. I can't meet up with Yukino if he tags along.

  "No worries, Natsu. You are more needed here."

  "But what if-"

  "I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself." He was obviously hesitant on letting me go alone. Clearly, he's worried about my well-being. I'm really touched, but i can't give in. Urgh, resist him, Lucy.

  "Ok, fine. Just make sure your ok. I don't want my bestfriend getting sick." Blushing, i nodded. I patted his left shoulder as i walked passed him, a small gesture that says not to worry. He seemed to understood since i saw him nod. Without anymore disturbances, i left the arena and went to meet with Yukino.
