Chapter 2

Lucy's POV

  After eating breakfast, we didn't waste time as we made our way to guild. The two intruders and scumbags was at it again, making fun of me all the way to the guild. Saying how clumsy, mean and grumpy i'am. But nothing a scary glare can't solve, right?

  Once reaching and entering the guild, we parted ways. A usual routine we do every morning. I would go approach either Levy or Mira, Natsu usually picks a fight with Gray and Gajeel while Happy starts to pester Charles. Same old. Same old..

  It seems like a normal day at a not so normal guild. Eeecckk! WRONG!

  Just as i was thinking that nothing eventful was going to happen today, Master emerged from the stairs, eyes roaming the guild.

  "LISTEN, BRATS! THE GRAND MAGIC GAMES WILL BE HELD A WEEK FROM NOW. SO.. EVERYONE, PACK YOUR BAGS! WE ARE GOING TO CROCUS FIRST THING TOMORROW!" And with that, the guild went wild as cheers and screams filled the atmosphere. I can only smile at the sight of my lively comrades. We are undeniably the most notorious and obnoxious guild there is.

  At around 10 am, i bid them my goodbye. I still have some unfinish business to attend to before i go down to packing.

  I checked my lacrima phone for any unread messages. Unfortunately, i have none. Which only means that we don't have any change of plans. I sighed before starting to walk again. Not my usual path back to my apartment, though. This time, i have to meet someone at Haven's Cafe.

  "I'm sorry. Did i made you wait for long, Lucy-san?"

  "No, i also got here. Please have a seat then we'll talk." A smile playing on my lips before gesturing to the seat infront of me. She smiled back before accepting my offer. Once settled, the kind aura between us vanished and was replaced with a rather serious one.

  "I'm afraid we have to change our plans. Master somehow picked me to participate in the Games." I said while groaning in annoyance.

  "Funny. I was going to say the same thing." i looked at her in shock but quickly recovered as a small laugh escaped my lips.

  "What a coincidence that is."

  "Sure is.."

  "But what are we going to do now? How can we investigate the continuous murder of Celestial Wizards around Fiore if we both are going to take part in the Games?" Another groan came out of my mouth as i helplessly tried to come up with another plan but to no avail.

  "Oh God, this is so complicated. We need to stop who ever is responsible for this killing spree." she concluded while i nodded in agreement.

  "Agree. They may know about the Caster side of Celestial Magic which is not good. We need to maintain the legacy of Celestial Wizards by keeping that side a secret. It will surely endanger future possessors of this magic if this information leaks out." I announced while ruffling my hair in both frustration and annoyance.

  "Yeah. But how? How will we be able to find the murderer if we need to be by the arena at almost all of the time?" I just scowled in response. This is rather harder than we thought now that we also need to participate.

  "Look at the bright side. Maybe the killer will be more exposed if he/she knows that the 12 zodiac keys plus the forbidden 13th gate is present at the games. I don't want us to be bait but its somehow our last option. We need to find this person as soon as possible. The longer she/he's free, the more chances our secret will be exposed."

  "Seems like that's the only thing we got."

  "Seems like it. So, I'll see you at the games?" She smiled at me before nodding in agreement.

  "Yeah. I'll be going now, Lucy-san."

  "Goodbye, Yukino-san. Good luck and be careful." The short bluish white haired girl infront of me gave off another sweet smile before bowing slightly in show of respect.

  "You too. Please take care of yourself and good luck at the games." And with that, she left.

  I cancelled all my petty stops and hurried home. It was already 2 pm and i still have a lot of packing to do for Crocus. While walking down the familiar path to my apartment, my mind wandered off to our conversation earlier.

  Yukino seemed alert and concerned as me which was not a surprise. After returning from being frozen for 7 years at Tenroujima, Yukino was the first one who contacted me. She discussed the current dilemma of Celestial Wizards to me which i immediately understood.

  It seems that multiple Celestial Wizards all around Fiore had been reported dead and murdered. The killing has been done individually and horribly, i might add. About two or three possessors of this magic are constantly found dead almost monthly which isn't a normal thing. Their blood drenched keys found on the crime scene. This only proves that spirits keys aren't their targets. It was something else. Something bigger.

  This constant killing would be even more drastic during the time of the games which Yukino pointed out. When the Games season comes, the murders would be twice as many and sinister. According to the Sabertooth Member, after last year's games, 6 Celestial Mages were found dead at different points and places at Crocus. These killed Mages were all members of different guilds which only made things more complicated.

  This happened 3 years straight which made Yukino even more suspicious. But if your asking me, it was a pretty good tactic. The killer would be around during the biggest gathering of guilds around Fiore, a greater chance and more targets.

  That's why the both of us decided to make a move to stop this killing spree before Celestial Wizards come to the point of extinction. Our original plan was to look out. Gather information and look for possible targets then catch the murderer in action. But that would be a lot difficult now that we are a part of the games. I know what your thinking. Why don't we ask help from Master or the Magic Council? We could but we can't.

  On why... Well, we have our own reasons..

  I'm sorry for not being able to update! Been really really really busy this past few weeks but worry not! Summer vacation is just around guy the corner which means i'll have more time to write! I hope you guys won't grow tired of me!!
