Chapter 30

After visitation, the inmates head back to their cell. Their arms full of gift bags and huge smiles on their faces.

"Can you believe this?!" Adam says, his voice full of excitement. "Just like that, I've filed for divorce! Austin ain't gonna know what hit him."

"Chance says this lawyer is one of the best too." Tim smiles as he notices the excitement on his fiance's face.

They hide all the bags under the cot to keep anyone from seeing them. As they start to sit down to relax, Chance shows up at their cell door.

"Hey, guys? Uncle Ian wants to see you two." Chance says.

"Bout what?" Tim asks.

"He didn't say." Chance says as he reveals two sets of shackles.

"Doesn't matter. I'm not letting anything ruin my mood today." Adam says as he happily let Chance put the shackles on him.

Tim frowns as he holds out his arms to be shackled.

"Sorry, Timmy. You know it's the rules." Chance chuckles.

"That doesn't make me like them." Tim grumbles.

"You should be happy. You saw your little sister today and your boyfriend filed for divorce." Chance chuckles as he fastens the shackles around Tim's face.

"This is my happy face." Tim frowns.

Adam giggles, kissing him on the cheek.

"Let's go you two." Chance laughs as he helps them stand from the cot.

After a struggle getting down the stairs wearing shackles, they finally arrive at the conference room.

Tim gives a low growl when he sees Clooney sitting and chatting with the governor.

"Good afternoon, gentlemen." Ian smiles. "Did you guys have a nice visitation?"

"The best." Adam smiles as he sits down.

"Always good to see my family." Tim smiles at the governor, his smile fading as he looks at the warden. "Can I ask what he's doing here?"

"I am the warden, Foust." Clooney says with a sneer.

"No, you just take up space." Tim snaps.

"Guys, please." Ian says, holding up his hand to quieten the two men. "But yes, Tim. Unfortunately, he is the warden."

"Uh, excuse me?" Clooney asks with raised brows.

Tim chuckles and looks down.

"Anyway. Adam, I'm sorry to inform you that your release has been denied due to the recent events." The governor states.

"Don't you mean, murdering Mitch Grassi?" Clooney snarls.

"You will have to go to court. There will be a trial." Ian says with a slight nod.

Adam nods in understanding. A slight smile glued to his face.

"More than likely, Tim, Samuel, Avi and Hunter will be subpoenaed to testify." Ian says. "No date has been set at the moment."

Tim glances around at his lover to see a very calm and relaxed expression on his face. His blue eyes actually sparkle with happiness.

"And Tim? Mr. DiCaprio will be here next week for your next exam." Ian says turning his attention to the inmate.

"WHAT?!" Tim yells, his eyes widening in shock. "SON OF A B*TCH! Oh, Governor, I 'm so sorry." He apologizes for his outburst. "I'm not ready. So much have been going on, I haven't even had time to study."

"Give it up, Foust. You ain't never going to get your diploma." Clooney laughs.

"F*CK YOU!" Tim growls at the warden.

"Now what kind of talk is that, MR. Warden?" Ian asks giving Clooney a very unpleased look before turning his attention back to the panicking prisoner. "I'll give DiCaprio a call and get it rescheduled for next month."

"I would very much appreciate, Sir, if you could do that." Tim says with a polite smile.

"I want to see you get that diploma, Tim, so I'll do whatever I can to help. Now, I heard a rumor about you two." Ian smiles.

Tim and Adam share a nervous glance.

"Uh, what did you hear?" Tim asks with a furrowed brow.

"A little bird told me that you two just got engaged." Ian says with a huge grin.

"WHAT?!" Clooney shouts. "But Rupp is married!"

"Not for long." Adam says with a smile. "I just filed for divorce."

"Yep, I think that same little bird that told you about our engagement also got Adam a lawyer." Tim says, giving Chance a quick glance.

"A very good lawyer might I add. Adam will be divorced in no time at all." Ian says as he collects his papers. "And I do expect an invite to the wedding?"

"Consider this your invitation." Tim smiles.

"Congratulations you guys." Ian stands from the table. "Adam, I'll be in touch about your court date and Tim, I'll give DiCaprio a call and I'll send you a message through Chance."

"Thank you, Sir." Tim says.

"Yes, thank you." Adam adds.

"Come on, Kiddos. Let's head back to your apartment." Chance chuckles as he takes them each by an arm.

Clooney stands up and quickly leaves, slamming the door behind him.

"You think he's possibly pissed about something?" Chance smirks.

"Two things." Tim says as they walk out into the hallway heading for the stairs. "He definitely doesn't want Adam and I to get married and the thought of me accomplishing my dream of getting my GED diploma pisses him off."

"He's definitely NOT invited to the wedding?" Adam laughs through heavy breaths as he and Tim struggle to climb the stairs wearing their shackles.

Finally making it back to their cell, they sit down on their cot for Chance to remove the shackles.

"Well, I have work to do. If you see my little dragon, tell him I'll be by later." Chance smiles.

Tim chuckles and gives him a thumbs up before he leaves.

"Uh, I've been thinking." Tim says as he rubs his wrist.

"About what?" Adam asks as he falls straight back on the cot.

"The wedding." Tim answers.

"What?" Adam asks, sitting up quickly. "You haven't changed your mind have you?"

"What? No, no." Tim chuckles, shaking his head. "Even after your divorce comes final, I think we need to wait until after your trial and after I get my GED. I only have two more test to take. History and then the final. That's a lot of stress. Plus the stress of the trial."

"What stress?  It's simple, I killed in man in cold blood. Should go pretty easy." Adam says with a shrug.

"Yeah, probably. But I just want our minds free from everything, you know what I mean? No worrying about the trial or my test. Just being able to concentrate on us and the wedding." Tim says.

"Okay. Sounds fair." Adam says as he reaches for Tim's books. He goes through them, finding the history book and hands it to his lover. "Get to studying. We have no time for test retakes."

He grabs Tim's notebook, pencil and his glasses and hands to him.

"I'll go find Avi and hang out with him for a while to give you peace and quiet with no distractions." Adam bites his bottom lip before kissing Tim softly on the lips.

Tim hums into the kiss and starts to deepen it when Adam giggles and pulls away, standing up from the cot.

"I said, no distractions." Adam smiles over his shoulder as he walks out of the cell.

"You little Dickweed." Tim mumbles, shaking his head as he slips on his glasses and opens his history book.

Adam walks down to the cafeteria and finds Avi drinking a cup of coffee reading a two-week old news paper.

"Anything interesting?" Adam chuckles as he sits down at the table.

"There's a huge hurricane heading for Florida tearing up everything in its path. Fires out west burning up three or four states. And people still trying to recuperate from a hurricane that just flooded half of Texas." Avi says as he folds the paper up and lays it aside. "And they send us to prison for punishment. I think the punishment is outside these concrete walls."

"I wouldn't count my blessings too fast. You haven't mentioned an earthquake yet." Adam says.

"True. Where's lover boy at?" Avi asks, looking around.

"Your's or mine?" Adam smiles.

"Okay? Both?" Avi chuckles.

"Your's said he had some work to do and would be by later and mine is studying. He was just informed that he was supposed to be tested next week. But he had forgotten about it so the governor is going to have it rescheduled." Adam answers.

"How many more test does he have to take?" Avi asks as he sips his luke warm coffee.

"He's got his history test rescheduled for next month then he has a final that includes all the subjects." Adam says.

"That will be the biggie." Avi comments.

"Yeah, after all this hard work, he has to ace it." Adam says.

"He will. Tim's very smart." Avi nods. "It's almost like he has a photogenic memory."

"Hello there, Blondie." An inmate says as he sits down in the vacant chair next to Adam. He lays his arm on the back of Adam's chair. "I can't believe your cell mate would allow you to roam around by yourself."

"My cell mate knows I can care for myself." Adam growls as he slowly looks around at the prisoner's arm on his chair. "Now get your d*mn arm off my chair."

"Back off, asshole." Avi says in a low voice.

"You think just because you're screwing a guard, Kaplan, that he'll show up like a knight in shining armor?" The inmate laughs.

"Let me tell you something, mother f*cker. I can take care of my own d*mn self if I need to." Avi growls.

"Adam? Avi? Problems here?" Tim speaks up.

"Nothing we can't handle, Sweetie." Adam smiles. "Aren't you supposed to be studying?"

"Just came down for some tea." Tim says, faking a smile to the unwelcome inmate.

"So, you're the famous Foust that I hear stories about." The inmate sneers as he reads Tim's shirt.

"Well, at least he's not as dumb as he looks." Avi laughs. "He can read."

"How many men have you killed, Foust? One, two?" The inmate smiles as he leans back in his chair.

"Wow, he can count too. Amazing." Avi says, slapping a hand to his face in amazement.

"I'm not too sure about that, Avi. He only made it to two." Adam frowns.

"I killed five so far but it's still early in my life sentence." Tim smiles. "And just in case you haven't heard. My fiance? The one you have your arm around? Just slit a man's throat no more than two weeks ago with a smile on his face. So if he asks you to move your arm? If I were you, I would."

"And what are you going to do if I don't?" The prisoner chuckles.

"Uh oh." Avi says as he picks up his coffee and moves to another table.

Tim chuckles as he innocently picks up Avi's spoon that he had left laying on the table, twirling it between his fingers. Without a second thought, he stabs the narrow end of the spoon right through the prisoner's hand that was on the table.

The inmate screams out in pain as he stares in horror at the spoon sticking through his hand. Adam slowly stands up and throws his hot coffee into the prisoner's face.

Again the prisoner screams and falls out of the chair to the floor.

Tim smiles as he reaches for his lover's hand. Adam takes Tim's hand and steps over the weeping prisoner lying on the floor.

Adam kisses his fiance on the cheek as he slides his arm around his waist.

Tim smirks as he looks down at the injured man.

"Uh, you were saying?" Tim asks with a raised brow.
