"Jungkook!" he turned sharply. The whistling of tires made his body prepare for a possible blow. His eyes searched for the car, the windshield glass fell slightly, and he saw the barrel light up as the car passed him.
He took a deep breath and everything slowed down. The car turned and headed for the parking lot exit, something hit him and he instinctively raised his hands, grabbing him. Losing sight of the car, he turned it to what he was holding.
"Miss Assistant?" he stared at her, her eyes fixed on his, and she smiled slightly. "Are you all right, sir?" she asked, and he nodded. "Thank God, I was scared for a moment." her hands clung to his jacket, her body pressed against his, and she breathed heavily.
He looked back at the exit. The situation worsened as soon as they dared to attack him in the company's parking lot. Apparently they had been burned painfully with the last attack.
He gritted his teeth and turned back to the woman in his arms.
Jungkook frowned, her eyes darkening rapidly, her face pale. Her fingers relaxed and she smiled slightly. "Rina?" Jungkook felt something warm and sticky between his fingers as he pressed her back.
He looked over her shoulder at his hand. Blood! "Rina!" her hands relaxed to the sides and her head nodded over his shoulder. "Damn it, Rina, don't fall asleep!" he shook her, and she looked up at him. "Just don't fall asleep, did you hear, stay with me, right?" he picked her up carefully and tried to open his car, pressing her to his chest.
Damn it! He let go of her legs and opened, lifting her up again. He carefully placed her in the back seat and, taking out his phone, sat in the driver's seat. He lit it and set off with the same whistling that had brought them here.
"Seokjin?" he looked sideways at the back seat. "Just don't fall asleep, Rina!" she smiled slightly, but her eyes slowly closed. "Seokjin, I was attacked, I'm traveling to the mansion, prepare the medical team!" he tossed the phone in the seat next to him and turned again.
"Speak, doll, say something?" he reached back, touching her shoulder. "Come on, honey, tell me how your day went?" he asked, glancing at her again, trying to keep an eye on the traffic as he tried to keep her awake.
"I have ... a terrible boss ..." her voice was low and broken, but at least she was talking. "Terrible?" he looked at her and his heart skipped a beat. She was smiling! "Why is he terrible, doll?" he asked, and she took a sharp breath. "He ... kissed me ...." she choked and he turned, clenching his teeth. He smiled slightly, but his smile quickly faded as she coughed hoarsely, blood dripped from the corner of her lips, and she gasped for something to say. "Don't stop talking, Rina!" he ordered, looking at her again. "Tell me about this boss of yours!" he shook her slightly. "He ... is ..." Her voice trailed off, and Jungkook cursed furiously, squeezing the gas almost to the bottom. "What is it, Rina?" Jungkook gritted his teeth and made a sharp turn. "Come on, doll, what is he like?" he growled, and she smiled, closing her eyes. "He ... well ... he ..." Jungkook could literally hear her lungs struggling for air.
"Just a little longer, Rina, what is he like?" Jungkook asked again, looking at her, shaking her. "He ... was ... my first ... kiss ..." she sighed and her head relaxed. Jungkook took a sharp breath and his body shook with anger and thirst for blood.
"Jungkook ..." he turned. How could she smile at him so kindly in such a situation? "I'm here, doll, what did you say, is your boss?" he could feel the lump in his throat getting bigger and suffocating. "He's ... gentle ..." Her back twisted, and she took a sharp breath, then let it go and sank lifelessly into the seat.
"No no no no!" he shook her hard. "Don't fall asleep, Rina!" he shouted, but she didn't move. "Come on, doll, please open your eyes!" he whispered, making one last turn toward the mansion. "Don't give up right at the end, baby, stay with me, come on baby!" he looked at her, then at the entrance to the mansion. Seokjin was already waiting for him, along with the medical team.
He slammed on the brakes and jumped out of the car. "Jungkook ..." Seokjin stared at his blood-stained clothes and stepped forward. "Where you're wounded, for God's sake, it's a lot of blood, how do you drive at all ..." he shot, but Jungkook ignored him. He walked around the car and opened it, leaning forward. "Come on, baby, say something ..." he pulled her carefully and, holding her close, pulled her out of the car, heading straight for the stretcher that was waiting for him. He carefully laid her down, turned to the doctor, who was already giving orders, and grabbed him by the collar. "If she dies, I will torture you until hell freezes and believe me, you will pray I kill you!" he growled, and the startled man shook his head vigorously, his eyes wide with terror.
Jungkook released him and stared at the medical team disappearing into the mansion. Seokjin stood beside him. "Come on, let the doctors see you, too." He pulled him by the shoulder, and Jungkook looked at him blindly. "I'm fine, not even a scratch ..." Seokjin raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure it's a lot of blood, Jungkook ..." he pointed to his chest and Jungkook looked down. "It's all hers, hyung, to the last drop." he shook his head, and Seokjin looked at the mansion in disbelief.
"I want to know who did this to her." Seokjin looked at him again. Jungkook looked as scary as he had that night in the alley when he beat the informant to death and nearly killed him.
"Jungkook, is she the reason why you've been so unstable lately?" he asked Seokjin directly, and Jungkook nodded. "Because of a woman?" Jungkook nodded again. There was no point in hiding anymore, not from Seokjin. "She rejected me, but stood in front of a bullet to protect me." Jungkook looked at him. "How should I understand this, hyung?" Seokjin smiled. "I don't know, kid, women are a complicated science" he shrugged, and they walked to the door.
"What's happening?" Jungkook and Seokjin turned and Taehyung nodded, standing beside them. His gaze circled the operating room behind the huge window and landed on the patient's face. "Isn't that Miss Yon?" he gasped and Jungkook glared at him.
"What is she doing here and why is she being operated on?" he asked innocently, and Seokjin stopped the approaching Jungkook. "They attacked Jungkook, she took the bullet." he explained and Jungkook gritted his teeth, turning back to the operating room. "Shit, Jungkook, I knew you were good in bed and that women love you, but that ..." Taehyung laughed. "I didn't sleep with her!" Jungkook growled and Seokjin looked at Taehyung wearily. Taehung blinked in disbelief, staring at Seokjin, who just shrugged. "But that morning ..." Taehyung didn't give up. "You interrupted us, and now either shut up or leave!" Jungkook roared, and Taehyung paused, biting his inner cheek.
Three hours later, Jungkook was still watching the operation intently. Seokjin and Taehyung went somewhere and finally left him alone.
"So her, huh?" Jungkook turned in surprise. "Father?" his father looked at him, and Jungkook was shocked by the soft look. He could hardly remember ever seeing such a feeling in his father. "Do you remember" his father began "when I told you about my first wife?" Jungkook nodded. The two have never been particularly close and conversations like this were extremely rare. "It's like I'm going back in time," Hyun-Ki smiled slightly, and Jungkook raised an eyebrow. he looked again at the medics roaming around Rina. "I know I've never shown you paternal love, Jungkook, but the moment I look at you, I really hope you experience the same thing, and I hope with a different ending." Hyun-Ki looked at his son and turned, leaving him alone. Jungkook was speechless, what did his father mean?
"How it goes?" Jungkook sighed, hadn't everyone decided to come one by one, asking stupid questions? "I think they're done" he replied and Yoongi nodded.
"The doctor seems to be coming here." Yoongi nodded at the operating room. They watched as the doctor set down his tools, gave some orders to the nurses and headed for the sink, washing his hands. Jungkook tensed even more as the doctor dried his hands and headed for the door. Sighing, he stood in front of them, watching the sisters finish.
"Mr. Jeon, you're both incredibly lucky." he looked at him. "Are you calling this luck?" Jungkook asked sharply, and the doctor nodded. "Judging by the injury, she was standing with her back to the shooter. That is, in front of you?" the doctor asked, and Jungkook frowned. "The bullet went through the subclavian artery and stopped in a rib." explained the doctor. "Which explains the amount of blood." he pointed to the clothes of Jungkook, who had not yet changed. "If she hadn't stood in front of you, we would be at your funeral now, Mr. Jeon." Jungkook gritted his teeth. "Judging by her height and where the bullet came from, it would have gone right through your heart." the doctor explained and left them, returning to the operating room.
