Steampunk Vows
Slivers of golden and silvered hues
mixed in auburn autumn views
like a tinker's workshop floor
on the morning after invention's war
There we met in our dream
a world apart from ash and steam
I kissed your dry and somber lips
that were to me as soft rose hips
The steam mixed with a mist so deep
as if the world were still asleep
Then you lead me to the starry sea
on a bloater above the trees
We watched the pools of people pass
through a decorative, old looking glass
And then we left for our paradise
in a clockwork maze of steel and ice
The city shown like burnished brass
As we approached the rainbow glass
The deep and clear ocean below
Like nothing we thought we'd ever know
Here was what the blokes at the dock
Always bragged on when they'd talk
And we were there today somehow
after exchanging our steampunk vows
I looked deep into your inner gears
and saw past my unworked fears
and left that old flat world far behind
to share a story that's yours and mine
