Steam Wings Intro: Old Town, New Dreams

It used to be a nice place to live, but that went out the window. It used to have people flock to it, but that was not the case anymore. Resonance was no longer a place that people liked. It was not important to anyone anymore.

It had become filthy like an old man's feet or like a rusty old pipe in a house. The air smelt of all of the oil products known to man. The water wasn't clean anymore. As a person, you could not take a bath with the river water, unless you wanted to smell like dead fish for three weeks. Smog draped over the town which caused a lot of the towns folk to have a type of seasonal depressive disorder that was never ending.

There were no more resources to drag out of the ground, so it was no wonder that people high tailed it out of town. It had become something where people thought that there was nothing special about it, except the eminent doom that had swooshed out of the sewers, as a gas so foul a skunk couldn't handle it. The town's sign had become rusted and old and needed to be replaced. No single person went into resonance because the sign freaked everyone out. The sign used to be that of a gorgeous lady and her family smiling with big white teeth. The sign had become very off putting, for it had started to rust and rot, and smelled of murk.

It used to be a town of huge parties where many people drank for hours on end in the town square. People would dance and dance, until they would fall over. There used to be dance contests, to see who could dance the longest. Of course, no one who was drunk lasted long. Only the sober ones would dance the longest. Even a man like Mr. Gerard who worked all day to fix any steam ship engines would have fun. The booze was free, so why not?

The parties ended after the tourists stopped coming. The tourists used to come to visit the river. The river used to be the nicest one on the continent. Sadly, because of bustling businesses coming to the town the river suffered. The river had turned into some sort of concoction of sludge and human waste.

There have been a chance for the town at that point in time, but the savior was hiding in his room clinking at a new technology. People believed that he didn't even know what he was doing in there, and that he'd never invent something fabulous. So, he locked himself away. He locked himself away from everyone.
