Chapter Twenty Two~ When the Heart Breaks

Lucy stood in the door way frozen. She didn't know what do in this moment. There on the bed in front of her was the one she loved. Laying half dressed with a half naked girl on top of him. And it was quiet obvious from the flustered looks on their faces, not only to her, but to everyone there that things had been getting intense between the two. Lucy's jaw dropped, she couldn't say a word. She couldn't move.

Natsu pushed Lisanna off him as hard as he could, throwing her to the ground, and jumped up. "Lucy!" He rushed towards her grabbing her hand. A look of pure terror in his eyes. Well of course he would look afraid, when he just got caught. She thought to herself. A flood of emotions rushed through her in that moment. Rage, anger, heartbreak, pain, betrayal, loneliness. Every emotion that she had fooled herself into believing that he wouldn't put her through. No, every emotion that he had promised her she would never feel again.

She snatched her hand back from him. She couldn't look him in the eyes, but she could hear the heartbreak in his voice. "L..Luce.... p-please.."

She looked up at him as a single tear ran down her cheek. "Screw you Natsu!" She shouted as she turned and walked past her friends and out of the room.

Levy walked up to him and slapped him hard across the face. "You Bastard.. what have you done?!" She growled through clinched teeth. She balled her little fists up and lunged towards him. "I told you that if you hurt her I would kill you, you son of a bitch!"

Gajeel grabbed Levy around the waist and pulled her backwards against his chest. "Come on Shrimp." He said as calmly as he could. "You're little blonde friend is more important than him right now." He pulled her out of the room and down the hall in search of Lucy.

Natsu stood there and starred. Gray looked down the hall towards where everyone else disappeared and then turned his head towards Natsu. "You really are fucking stupid, flame boy." He said, his face showing no emotions. "I told you not to fuck this up. Six months you've been with her, she gave you everything. And this is how you do her?" Gray shook his head and walked towards the door. "She deserves better than you." With that statement he walked out of the bedroom leaving Nastu alone with Lisanna.

Lucy was outside trying hard to fight back tears that didn't want to obey her. She felt like the biggest fool in the world in this moment. She knew better then to fall for him. She knew he wasn't the same little boy she had loved all those years ago. He was different now. He was the playboy. And she fell for his games. Believing that he would change. That she mattered to him. She wiped back the tears on her cheeks when she heard her name called.

"Lucy??" Levy spoke quietly. Lucy turned around and leaned her face into Levy's shoulder. Levy put an arm around her friend rubbing her back as she sobbed quietly. Lucy looked up at Levy.

"I'm sorry to ruin this for ya'll, but will ya'll please take me home?" She asked looking at Levy and Gajeel. Levy looked up at Gajeel who simply nodded his head. The three of them walked over to the car. Lucy was climbing into the back seat when Gray came running over to her.

"Lucy," he said taking her into his arms in a tight hug. "I'm so sorry. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with him. I am gonna kick his ass for this shit!" He growled. He looked up at her and saw that her heart was breaking even more. Of course it was. This could come between the three of them. It could ruin a bond the three of them had carried for almost twenty years. "Listen, call me anytime, okay? Day or night. I will be there for you. Like I always have." He starred into her eyes sympathetically.

"O-okay Gray." She said looking at the ground. She didn't say anything else as she climbed into the backseat of the car with tears in her eyes. She didn't know how to feel right now. She curled up on the seat and wept quietly to herself. No one said a word the whole way home.

When they arrived at the house Lucy asked Levy and Gajeel to stay the night with her. She didn't want to, no she couldn't, be alone right now. They agreed. Lucy went into her room and changed. She brought out a change of clothes for levy to put on figuring she would be more comfortable in them then in the dress she was wearing. They sat up for a little bit talking. Trying to get Lucy's mind off of everything, but Lucy needed some time alone, so she excused herself to her room for the night. She laid in her bed and cried until she fell asleep.

*********

It had been two weeks since the party. Lucy wasn't the same person she had been. Everyone noticed it. Natsu had shown up at her house at least a dozen times trying to talk, make up, beg, whatever he could think of, but Lucy had whoever was there turn him away. And all of their friends had been there to help support her these past few weeks, even Juvia.

Right now, she just couldn't face him. It still hurt too much. She saw him a few times around campus. He kept his distance but he watched her. When she saw him she noticed he looked almost dead. Like her, there was no color to him. He seemed lifeless, like a zombie. She hadn't been much better though. She hadn't bothered to put on makeup or dress up or much of anything. She washed, dressed, ate, and came to school. She didn't want to do anything else. She still hurt. It was hard to even be at school. She knew sooner or later she was going to have to face him, but there was some one else she was going to have to face too.

She turned the corner to head towards her next class when she ran smack into her.

She looked up at the person she ran into and rage flashed across her eyes. "Lisanna!"
