Chapter Twenty Six ~ Lucy's Inner Conflict
Lucy climbed out of the shower and put on her blue shirt and pink tank top. She pulled her hair up in a ponytail and looked in the mirror. She looked alright, but still not like her normal self. She just didn't have it in her. She knew it was because of him. Because he wasn't with her. He made her happy. She missed him, but her pride wouldn't let this go. If he would do something like this now what would happen in the future? She had cried about it so much that she didn't have any tears left to cry. She hated him, but she didn't and she knew it. The reality of it was that she loved him. She always had and always would.
She walked out of her apartment, closing the door behind her and walked towards the Cafe down the street. The girls had decided to go to breakfast and then go shopping to celebrate getting out of school. Not that she really felt like celebrating.
She walked into the Cafe and put on her best smile for the girls. "Hey you guys," she said. They looked up at her from where they were sitting and apparently having a pretty intense conversation.
"Hey Lucy!" They both smiled excitedly. She sat down at the table with them and ordered a cappuccino from the waiter. "So are you ready for a day of shopping and fun?" Levy asked.
Lucy looked at her surprised, "I thought you said we were just going shopping. I didn't bring any extra money with me."
Erza smiled at her, "Well we figured we would treat you today. You have been through so much lately." She grabbed Lucy's hand and pulled her out of the Cafe with Levy following right on her heels. "We figured we would start with massages and manicures. Then we'll do some shopping, grab some lunch, do a little more shopping, and then end it with a trip to the hair salon."
Lucy smiled as they pulled her down the street towards the nail salon. They were really trying to make her feel better, but for it was just so hard to stay happy. She decided that she would make a genuine effort for her friends, however, to have a good time today.
---------------
The day had gone by amazingly fast when Lucy stopped stressing and thinking about everything. She had been having a great time with the girls. The massages had been excellent, she got her nails done a beautiful pink pastel color, She bought six new outfits shopping, and they had lunch at the cutest little diner on the other side of Magnolia. They decided to go straight on to the hair salon after lunch because they were all worn out from this morning. They were sitting in the chairs getting their hair done and just having a good time.
Lucy looked over at Levy. "So Levy, I've been meaning to ask how things have been going with you and Gajeel."
"Oh.." Levy was quiet for a moment before she spoke. It almost seemed that Levy was scared to talk about it. "Well.. they're actually going pretty good." She smiled.
"So are ya'll dating now?" Lucy asked. She had been so busy sulking in her own pity she had completely forgotten to check in on how her friends had been doing.
"Y-yeah, we are actually. For about two weeks now. I actually did end up asking him, an was honestly shocked when he said yes." Levy smiled at the thought.
"Hard to picture a big brooding guy like that being scared to ask a little thing like you out." Erza giggled as Levy blushed
"Well what about you, Erza?" Lucy asked. "How are things with you and Jellal?"
Erza looked at her. "W-well actually, they seem to be going okay, but lately Jellal has been acting kind of funny."
"Funny?" Levy asked. "Funny how?"
Erza thought about it for a moment. "Not funny like he's cheating or anything, just like he's up to something. I haven't figured it out yet, but I will soon enough." The girls giggled at Erza's determination to figure out what sneakiness Jellal was up to.
"Maybe he's going to propose." Lucy grinned making Erza blush.
"Nooo.. I don't think that's it. It couldn't be could it?" The girls giggled again at the way Erza was still blushing. She was almost the same color as her hair by the time the girls got done teasing her.
Levy finally looked over at Lucy and asked her, "What about you Lucy? How are you doing?"
Lucy starred at the ground for a moment. " I don't really know how I feel right now." She spoke quietly. " I am trying to move on, but I can't stop thinking about Natsu. I miss him so much, but I'm so hurt by him too."
"Well you know he talked to Gray right?" Erza asked her. Lucy looked at her confused.
"What do you mean he talked to Gray?" Lucy asked.
"About the whole situation, and everything that happened that night." Levy replied. "We don't know all the details, but Natsu was really torn up. Apparently, there was some big confession and everything." Levy knew more then that though, a lot more. So did Erza, but they couldn't let on to Lucy that they knew. That could ultimately ruin the plan that they had come up with to help Natsu win her back.
"A confession huh?" Lucy looked deep in thought by those words.
"Lucy do you miss him? Do you still love him?" Erza asked quietly.
Lucy starred into space for a few moments. How do I feel about Natsu? Could I ever trust him again? I mean I miss him. I want him, but I hurt so much right now. She thought to herself before finally answering. "Yes I do.." This was all the girls needed to hear. They smiled at her sweetly as Levy picked up her phone and sent a quick message out.
We got confirmation! Everything is go!
