Chapter Thirty Nine~ The Playboy's Trip

Natsu sat in the first class seat on the plane. He hated to fly, even more he hated he wasn't with Lucy. He had tried to call her to tell her that he had to fly to America to see his parents. He didn't have a choice. He had to get this situation under control and quickly, or he might lose her. And he'd be damned if that was ever going to happen to him again. But of course, he couldn't tell her that. If he told her then he would have to tell her what he was planning, and that wasn't going to happen either. So now, he was on a plane, flying home to save his Princess and their relationship.

He thought back to the conversation that he had with her father earlier that day. He was still royally pissed about the whole situation. Jude Heartfilia was the lowest kind of man. He wasn't the man that he had been when Natsu and Lucy were children. He leaned back in the chair with a heavy sigh as he remembered everything.

"And what makes you think that I would give you my blessing?" Jude asked looking rather amused.

"Sir, please," Natsu responded. "I would give your daughter the world. I love her more then anything and I will go to the ends of the earth for her. No matter what it takes, she deserves to have it all." He was now sitting in a chair across from Mr. Heartfilia, his hands rubbing the knees of his pants as he tried to calm his nerves. This isn't what he was expecting when he came over here.

"And what would I get from this arrangement?" Jude asked leaning back in his chair.

"What do you mean?" Natsu asked genuinely confused.

"Well Mr. Dragneel, though all your little confessions of love are sweet to the point of making someone sick," the man said setting his hands on his desk. "You can't honestly believe that I give a damn about any of it. I am a business man, and she is a very beneficial tool for me."

"Excuse me?" Natsu asked cutting his eyes at the man. What the hell could he possibly mean? Natsu asked himself.

Jude looked down at the boy as if he were a complete idiot. "You can't be that stupid," He replied, "Obviously, Lucy will marry whomever will pay the most for her."

Natsu starred at the man in complete disbelief of what he just heard. "You're kidding right? You are really going to treat her like a prize to be won?"

Jude simply nodded his head, "If that is how you choose to see it then, yes. So unless you are here to make an offer we have nothing further to discuss." With that statement Jude turned his chair and starred out the window behind his desk.

Natsu stood and started to walk out, but before he reached the door he turned back to the man and spoke in a very authoritative voice. "You are wrong. She isn't a prize. She is a princess, my princess. And I will NOT let you sell her off to anyone. Not even me, but I promise you this. She WILL be mine. She IS mine. And I will destroy you before I let you hurt her again. I don't know what happened to you Mr. Heartfilia, but you aren't the man you used to be. And it breaks my heart that you can't see the true value in your daughter."

With those words Natsu walked out of the office and out of the house and made a phone call.

Now, thirteen hours later here he was getting ready to land at the airport in Denver, Colorado. He had only made three phone calls. The first had been his father,  "Please dad, help me, I don't know what to do," the second had been to Gray, "Gray, take care of her until I get back," and the third had been to Luce, but she didn't answer so he left her a message, "I love you."

When the plane finally landed Natsu quickly got off. Finally! he thought as he sighed in relief to be back on the ground. He looked around until he saw his family's oldest butler and confidant. He walked over to him casually. "Hello Steven," Natsu spoke to the gray haired man.

"Ah, Mr. Dragneel, it surely is good to see you again. It has been far too long since you last visited. Your mother is ecstatically awaiting your arrival."

Natsu gave a genuine smile. As dire as this situation felt he was looking forward to seeing his family again, even if only briefly. "Unfortunately, I won't be able to visit as long as I would like," Natsu responded, "However, I will make time for her before I return to Magnolia." Natsu was known for being a wild boy, but when we was home with his family he tried to keep himself under control. After all, there was a time and place for everything, and with his family it was the time to show how properly he was brought up.

"Very good, Sir." Steven replied as he looked around, "And where are your bags, sir?" He asked.

"No bags, Steven. This was a last minute trip." Natsu replied as he started towards the exit of the airport with Steven following closely behind him. When they arrived at the car Natsu climbed in the back before Steven could open his door. He loved his family's butler, but he had never been big on being catered to for things he could very well do himself.

The drive to the house was fairly quiet. He took his phone out, turned it on, and looked at it. Thirty-two text messages, and 5 missed called. The five missed calls had all been from Lucy, of course, she hadn't heard from him in almost twenty-four hours. The majority of the text messages were from her too. You know things like, Where are you? Why aren't you here? Where the hell are my towels you dragony bastard?! I'm going to kill you slowly when you get here! I miss you! What is going on that your phone is off all this time? Ok, then I love you. BTW... I still want my frappin towels back you idiot!

He couldn't help but laugh at all of them. Until he got to the last two messages. The first was a picture of lucy sitting on her bed with her legs under her wearing a little blue silk nightie with a silver chain and pendant laying softly at her breasts. Oh My God! He thought when he saw the picture as his breath hitched. The message with the picture read 'Waiting for you whenever you come home.' What is that on her breasts? He thought to himself as he looked closer at the picture to see what was on the necklace. He looked closer and noticed it was a dragon. "My princess really does get me," he mumbled to himself as he smiled at his phone.

The next text message was from Gray, 'Hey man, sorry to hear about yesterday, but don't worry I have my eyes on her for you. She had a run in with Sting last night, but she handled it before I could do anything. That girl has more heart than anyone realizes.'

Natsu got upset for a moment at the thought of Sting trying to go after Lucy again, but before he could think anything further about it the car had stopped in front of his family's home. As he climbed out the car he was greeted by a beautiful woman with light pink hair and crimson blue eyes. "Natsu, my baby!!!! How are you? Oh, how we have missed you darling!" She squealed as she hugged him tightly.

"Hello, mother." He smiled.
