Chapter Six~ When Fate Calls

The racing and partying continued on late into the night. Lucy had been having a great time with Levy and Erza, but yet she was distracted.

She couldn't believe she saw him. He was the reason she came back to Magnolia in the first place. She had wanted to find him for the past seven years. She wanted to tell him how much missed him- no; how much she needed him.

When the bike had stopped in front of her she couldn't help but look, she was drawn to it. But when he took his helmet off she instantly knew who it was. She could never forget those deep onyx colored eyes or that unique colored hair. She wanted to run to him, wanted to speak. He was so close she could have done it, but then she saw the white haired girl jump into his arms , kissing on him. Who was that? She thought to herself. It must be his girlfriend. So with that she gave him a weak smile and stepped back into the crowd, not wanting to bother the happy couple.

Lucy walked over to where her friends stood talking to a group of guys. She looked at Levy and watched as she kept blushing at a tall well built guy with long black hair who had just won the last race. I wonder if that is the Gajeel guy Erza was talking about earlier? She questioned in her head.

"Hey Lucy, are you alright?" Erza asked looking over from the blue haired guy she was talking to.

"Yea, I'm okay," she responded. "I was just thinking about an old friend." She stated looking around.

"Really, an old friend?" Levy asked, now slightly intrigued.

"Yeah, I saw him earlier," Lucy stated blushing slightly, "I was going to speak to him when I saw him, but...." she trailed off remembering seeing him with the white haired girl, and how happy he looked.

"Well if he's here, we can help you find him," the blue haired guy stated, "we pretty much know everyone at these things."

"That's okay," she replied not wanting to see him with her again. For some reason it really hurt her. It shouldn't have, after all they hadn't seen each other in seven years. Of course he had forgotten about her. About the promise they made as children. After all they were only kids. What did she expect after all this time? It was obvious that he had moved on with his life and had found happiness. Who was she to come in and interfere with that? "Actually, I think I'm going to head home. It's pretty late, and I still have alot of unpacking I need to get done before my Monday classes."

"Well we will walk with you then." Erza said turning to get ready to tell the guys goodnight.

"No, no, I'll be fine." Lucy said. "I don't think it is all that far from my apartment anyway. Maybe a mile or two."

"Are you sure?" Levy questioned looking at her friend with concern.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. I promise I'll let you know as soon as I get home." Lucy said with a small smile.

Gajeel looked over at her, before putting his arm around Levy's shoulder. "Well you be safe, we'll make sure your friends get home safe too" He stated with a grin and a wink looking down at her petite friend who was now blushing the brightest shade of red.

Breathe Levy, he's into you. Lucy thought with a smile as she walked off waving goodbye.

Lucy headed down the street thinking to herself about the events that had happened earlier in the evening and what the future might hold for her now.

She wasn't paying much attention to anything until after a little bit she realized she was lost.

"Crap, where am I?" She mumbled to herself as she pulled out her phone to use her gps to get back to her place. She looked down at her phone it was dead. "Dammit!"

She decided to keep walking; hoping to soon run into a convenience store or someone who could help lead her in the right direction. It was really dark outside. Too dark, she thought to herself. Then she heard something. It sounded like footsteps behind her. She turned and looked. No one was there. It must be my imagination, maybe I should stop watching so many scary movies. She shuddered the eerie feeling of being watched never leaving her.

She quickened her pace walking a little faster. She could still here the footsteps behind her. They were getting quicker too, and louder. Omg! I know someone is following me! Please God get me out of this! She started in a full on run.

Damn me for wearing heels! Help me anyone! She was screaming in her head, but the sound was stuck in her throat. She ran and hard as she could until she stumbled and landed hard on the ground falling on her arm. She curled into a ball of pain crying when the footsteps finally reached her.

The dark figure bent down and grabbed her by her hair and snatched her head back causing tears to form in her eyes. "Give me everything you have, or I'll slit your pretty little throat," the husky voice from the dark figure spoke as he ran the blade down the side of her throat.

Scream, Lucy! Fight back! Do something, Dammit! She shouted in her head. She lifted her arm with her purse held out.

"P-please! Take it!" She cried. "J-Just don't hurt me! I'll do anything you ask!"

"Anything I ask, huh?" The shadowy man loomed over her thinking to himself with an evil grin. He looked down as he set the knife down preparing himself to do only God knows what. Lucy knew it was now or never. This was the only chance she had. She let out a blood curdling scream as she lifted her leg and kicked as hard as she could into the mans crotch.

"You little bitch! I'll kill you!" He screamed as he doubled over in pain. Lucy pushed herself off the ground as fast as she could, ignoring the pain she felt rushing through her body. Run Lucy! She encouraged herself. Run until you can't run any further!

She ran as hard and as fast as she could until she ran face first into someone. Strong arms wrapped themselves around her helping her to balance herself. She sank down into them not knowing what else to do.

"What the hell?! Lucy, is that you?! What's wrong? What happened?!" The voice asked sternly, yet at the same time there was a very concerned tone in it too. She looked up at the voice of the person holding her.

"Gray! Help me!" She cried burying her face into his chest; trying her best not to pass out. "Please help me! This guy just attacked me. I'm afraid he might still be following me!"

He looked down at his friend that he hadn't seen in such a long time. "Don't worry Lucy. I'll protect you your safe now."

With those words she heard nothing else as everything around her went black.
