Chapter Forty Six ~ Seven Months
Lucy laid in the bed her whole body aching. She felt like death warmed over. She rolled on her side as Natsu came in the room with some soup for her. He looked at her sympathetically. "Are you not feeling any better Princess?" He asked stroking her hair as she slowly sat up. She looked up at him then around the bedroom. There was still so much unpacking she needed to do, but she could barely move. She had moved in with him about three weeks ago since he didn't want to let up on the subject. They had gotten engaged back around her birthday almost two months ago, and he stayed on her about moving in until she finally cracked. She actually had been really happy that she had moved in with him, at least she was until she got sick last week.
"I think I might be feeling a little better," she responded quietly. He looked down at her with worry in his eyes. She looked pale. He couldn't stand seeing her like this. He put his hand on her forehead.
"Well you feel like your fever might be breaking a little bit." He said as he stroked her cheek. "Luce, I'm going to stay home with you today. You need to go to the doctor."
"No Natsu, you can't afford to miss class, it's okay. I promise I will be fine. It's probably just a flu bug or something. You know every year there is some new "Fad" flu bug going around. " She smiled at him weakly.
"I'll make a deal with you," He said with a smile, "You promise me you will go to the doctor today, and I promise I will bring home that Ben and Jerry's ice cream you like so much. What is it Phish Food?"
She smiled a little more, "You promise you'll bring a whole pint right? Not the little one that only has like 4 bites in it, but the actual pint??!"
"I promise, whatever you want Princess. After all what kind of dragon would I be if I didn't spoil my princess?" He asked.
"A dead one," she laughed. He laughed with her. Even sick as she was he still loved the way her smile made her whole face light up.
"Okay then Princess, I'll be home as soon as classes get out ok?" He leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I love you." He said as he looked in her eyes and told her goodbye. She sat back on the bed and picked up her cell phone. She opened the screen then googled the number for the doctors office. They set her up an appointment for a little before noon. She took her time and showered and got dressed because every time she got up and started moving around she started feeling dizzy and like she might vomit or pass out. She didn't know which one was going to happen first, but either one would be pretty aweful right about now.

Lucy sat in the waiting room at the doctors office looking at one of the old magazines that looked like it had probably been sitting there since the 1960's. Who was that on the cover again? It looked like a young Madonna. She casually looked at the pictures wondering who in their right mind would wear the crap they sell in these things. This was the ugliest shit she had ever seen.
"Lucy Heartfilia," The nurse called from the door. Lucy put the magazine down and walked to where the nurse was standing. She was starting to feel a little bit better once she finally got to moving around a little bit.
"I'm Lucy," She said with a smile.
The nurse smiled back, "Follow me please," she said as she walked down a hallway with green walls and opened a door. "Just have a seat on the table there and the doctor will be in with you shortly." Lucy took a seat on the cold patient table and looked around the room. It was pretty much the same as any doctors office she had ever been to in her life. White walls, cold, and full of junk that people like to pocket when they visit the doctor, you know alcohol pads, rubber gloves, tongue depressers.
She heard a knock at the door as the doctor came in. The older lady looked at Lucy and smiled. "Hi Lucy, I'm doctor Jehnsen," the lady said stretching out her hand. Lucy shook it back. "So what brings you in today?" She asked looking over Lucy's chart.
Lucy desribed the symptoms that she had been having for the past few days. "I think it's probably just a flu bug or a virus." Lucy said "But my fiance insisted that I come get checked, then he bribed me with Ben and Jerrys.
The doctor looked at her and laughed, "Cherry Garcia?" She asked.
Lucy shook her head, "No, Phish Food."
"Good choice," the doctor laughed. Lucy continued to talk with the doctor for a little bit while the doctor listened to her breathing, and checked her vitals. "Lucy if it's okay I'd like to run a few tests on you and check a couple things out. I just want to rule some things out before I just send you out with any old prescription." Lucy smiled and nodded at the doctor as she left the room. She thought she was a really sweet lady. Lucy was all alone again. A few minutes later a nurse came in carrying a basket.
"I'm going to take a blood sample," the nurse said as she prepped everything. Lucy nodded as she turned her head. She hated seeing them draw her blood, but she knew it had to be done. When it was over and the "wound" was covered with a bandaid Lucy finally opened her eyes.
"Thank God that's over with," she smiled at the nurse.
The nurse smiled back and responded. "The doctor should have the results in about a half hour and then she'll come back in to let you know what she found, if anything." Lucy nodded as the nurse left and started looking around the room at all the medicine signs that were hanging on the walls. It really annoyed her how a place of healing had turned into a billboard facility for main stream medicine. 'Buy this,' Try this,' Ask your doctor today.'
Before Lucy had even realized it the doctor was knocking on her door again. "Hey Lucy," she said with a somber smile. She handed Lucy a paper with her tests results. Her eyes got big and her mouth fell open as she looked at the results. After a moment the doctor finally spoke, "I'm writing you two prescriptions to take daily. I'm not 100% certain quite yet, we need to schedule you a follow up and run a few more tests first, but I'd say from that paper right there you have about seven months left."
Lucy only heard about half of what the doctor said as she starred at the paper in her hands. The only thought that ran through her mind was, How am I going to tell Natsu?
